The primary care physician that I had used for the last 30 years recently closed his practice. My daughter suggested Dr. Zane Cooke, MMC. I am so glad she did. My first visit was with his PA, Cassidy Crawford, and she was fantastic. I saw Dr. Zane Cooke for the first time yesterday and was completely impressed. Dr. Cooke spoke with me about my lab results in a sincere, unhurried manner. We discussed my medical history, and he genuinely seemed to care. Dr. Cooke is a credit to his profession. I also want to mention his nurse (I feel bad that I do not recall her name). She was professional, nice, and efficient. So glad my daughter suggested him. read more

Doctors are good, but their billing process is terrible. Expect to have issues and surprises that prevent your access to the actual care.

They are more interested in shielding their complete lack of communication with AI than serving their patient. I highly do not recommend this clinic for any level of care. read more

Had a procedure at MMC and had a great experience. Pre & Post op nurses were awesome. Very attentive and answered any questions. Truly appreciate the care and empathy. Dr Celmer, I highly recommend. Explained everything clearly and already feel relief from the procedure. read more

Calling in experience: I tried to call and talk to a human to reschedule an appointment and all I get is a robot. Do you really think they can handle all call issues? It offered me departments to call, but Results PT was never offered. So what now? I have heard of other practices not having someone answer a phone and their client numbers went down. I am elderly, and if I can't talk to a human, I will go somewhere where I can. read more

Always a problem with Insurance and Billing. The Doctors are fine, but the Administration is the worst.

The patient services rep Sonia Leonard disregarded anything I said about my bill dispute. I made a routine exam appointment and was talked into seeing a PA because of the shorter wait times. Because I also asked to be referred to a general surgeon they billed my insurance for an office visit instead of a routine exam. The routine exam would have been covered 100% by my insurance. Now I have almost $400 bill and didn't get anything out of the visit. Several different drugs were pushed on me during the visit. I didn't accept any of them. Every question that was asked of me was met by a solution of a different prescription I highly suggest finding a smaller office maybe they will actually tear you like a human and not a cash cow. read more

I will not mention the doctor's name (his initials are PM), but I am livid! My wonderful PCP, who I had for the past 30 years retired December 2023. She always worked with me and respected my wishes as a patient. I need surgery. More specifically the sleeve which was recommended in my PCP's notes. I have NAFLD and the last US showed I developed cysts. I am also diabetic and have COPD. Because of my liver, I gained 140 lbs over the past 5 years. The surgery will reverse NAFLD, get rid of diabetes and lessen the pressure on my diaphragm in order to breathe easier. He was made aware that I had time constraints to have the surgery completed related to my age. I agreed to have a colonoscopy because I had a recent bout with colitis. I prefer not to have a mammogram and that is my choice. I do my own examinations and, if I felt a lump, I would bring the anomaly to someone's attention. I do not like to take medications and do embrace the natural approach. I used to be an Oncology RN and, what I have witnessed, I want quality of life and not quantity. I don't want to know if I have cancer because I will not do anything about it. Again, my choice. Having a choice in your own care is a Patient Right -- American Medical Association Code. He denied me my rights and fired me as a patient because I was refusing "preventative care." No, what he was doing was attempting to force my hand. What a hypocrite! The surgery would have corrected three major medical issues but he's more concerned about my breasts! I was also told he was calling in my diabetic and cholesterol medications of which I had run out due to long appointment wait dates. He never did. This is what he calls preventative care -- no surgery and no medications. How does this jerk still have a license to practice medicine? And, after reading some of the complaints, this facility has a reputation for referring a patient to other departments and over-charging. Are they bilking the patient or was I not a money-maker? Then he said he would only fill my FMLA papers for 6 months. He only approved it for three. A liar as well. I have had experiences with MDeities (little man with a big ego) before, but this guy takes the cake! What a control freak. And, before you judge me, remember that I had a PCP for 30 years...this AH for less than five minutes. So, for a PCP to KNOWINGLY leave a patient in a medical situation because of HIS OWN beliefs, that is UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL! So, if you are planning an appointment with MMC...run like hell! I felt bad even giving this place a star when it really deserved a finger. Just recently, I spoke with a fellow RN and he stated that his wife had just been "fired" as a patient from MMC as well...except she was fired over the phone rather than in person. Update: I was just contacted by another physician who is not affiliated with MMC. She is female and understands how I feel about my care. read more

The Lab people and schedule rs and receptionists are great. been seeing my primary doctor there for 3 years. I've been misdiagnosed twice, once because the NP failed to throughly check my labs (I had a bad infection; was told I was fine and my fibromyalgia was diagnosed as myofacial pain. HUGE difference between the two. I tried several times, even in tears to get my symptoms across, but my explanations fell on deaf ears. I have finally decided to leave MMC for another clinic. I'm extremely thorough about finding out what something is going to cost me--it's what people should do to prepare, and I never had a problem before EVER--until MMC!!!( I double checked with my insurance and MMC before a simple 20min procedure and they told me the bill (Twice)but then after the procedure was done it was TRIPLE!!!! I've had surgeries that costed less than this simple procedure/checkup!!?! Now Denise and Merideth say--I should just pay it, like no big deal or I won't get medical service!!!! I hate MMC. They are nothing but money-hungry soulless ghouls who would let you bleed out after surgery if you owed them $5 and didn't have the resources to pay it, and I'm not exaggerating because I've seen it. All they care about is running as many unnecessary tests as possible to milk your insurance-not your actual health or what is best for you personally..and they bounce you around to all of their specialists when there's no need...It's quite sad that they are quickly becoming a monopoly for medical care in the area. This is our closest walk-in clinic and I have come here several times over the last year. I love the walk-in clinic and the fact that you can "schedule and appointment" online. I'm knocking off a star because at one visit I had to go to the lab for blood work to be drawn and the nurses in that department were rude and made me feel uncomfortable. The walk-in clinic is one of the busiest in the area, so I would definitely recommend going online to reserve a time slot, as the wait can be several hours without one. read more

**LATEX ALLERGY** This facility regularly stocks LATEX GLOVES, instead of Nitrile or other materials. My wife is exceedingly allergic to Latex, even the powder can induce an anaphylaxis response. I feel like latex is a thing of the past with all the allergies.. read more

MMC AS A WHOLE- Very difficult to get the department you want on the phone. But facilities are nice and clean. LITA WARISE IN RHEUMATOLOGY was extremely dismissive of my pain and all but refused to care for me since my bloodwork was fine 3 months ago. Wasn't until I asked her if I should leave that she attempted to help me. She has little to no bedside manner. Was rude and made comments to make me feel dumb more than once both times I was there. Seems she'd rather provide care for people that already have a diagnosis. She doesn't want to do the work to help find the diagnosis. I've told both of my referring doctors not to send their patients here anymore. I'll be driving into Nashville for any future rheumatology needs. read more

When you need them the most you can never get in to see them. This place is more concerned about well visits and anything else. When you are sick and in need you cannot get an appointment with your doctor while you are sick. Instead the appointment will be several months away. What good is this? This tells me well visits are their priority. I had diverticulitis and was in great pain. Called and could not get in and see my doctor. I ended up going to the emergency room at the hospital instead. MMC is not a facility interested in helping people in need. read more

Billing issues. As several other comments show, the entire MMC building has problems with billing. It's always blamed on their "system" or "human error"... when you have this many poor reviews talking about scam billing it's not "error" it's now not knowing how to properly and professional do your complete job. If you call and mention this, they cut you off and say "we are not going to address that over the phone" because it's a recorded conversation used for review and they don't want those complaints being recorded. This has happened more than once to me. Specifically, DO NOT go to DR. LAMAY. His medical advice is comparable to that off the back off a medicine bottle. He's in it for the money and it shows. He has committed insurance fraud but they are again arguing it was "simple human error" but when you look at the data there's no hiding it. He strings patients along appt after appt to get as many co pays he can from you until actually addressing the problem. I know you can't please everyone, but when you have a 2star rating(currently) at a medical facility... it's not the patients... it's the employees/nurses/doctors. read more

It is absolutely 50/50 whether they will try to overcharge you or whether they will even be able to answer you questions you may have. I have a surgery scheduled and have had to call several times to get an answer to my question. I was hung up on, I was told let me transfer you to then get hung up on again before I had a chance to talk with anyone. Not to mention that I have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars here and instead of treating me with respect I am spoken down to or just hung up on. ***** LONG, BUT MUST READ!!!!***** STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Nurse Practioner Lita Warise and the staff of this office (Rheumatology) are the rudest, most incompetent people that I have ever seen! She diagnosed my wife and had her petrified stating that she, my wife, was in "stage 3b kidney failure" and knocking on the door of dialysis! My wife is pretty healthy minus a few minor things and had just had a physical with labs that came back normal on March 5, 2021 by her primary care doctor. On March 26, 2021, she had to have labs drawn for a small hernia repair surgery by a great surgeon, Dr. Mark Akins with Saint Thomas Medical Group. In those labs, everything turned out the same except for her GFR had a reading of "40" according to Lita. Now, keep in mind that the labs on March 5th stated that my wife's GFR was 108. Lita was "going by the results" from the labs completed on March 26th and instead of comparing the 2, she took it upon herself to diagnose her with kidney failure. The CORRECT thing to do would be to send my wife to a nephrologist, someone who actually practices medicine in this area- not just a nurse practioner that works in a rheumatologist office! If you truly have "stage 3b kidney failure" there would be symptoms like fluid retention- edema in her hands and feet, little to no urination in which my wife has NONE of this! Did Lita even look for these symptoms? Did she even ask if my wife has these symptoms? The answer is NO! She did not! Did the thought ever cross Lita's mind that the results she was reading might be an error? Lab error (it happens)? Dehydration? etc.... Obviously not! Lita really needs to get all of the facts first instead of just throwing a diagnosis around and scaring her patients! My heart really hurts for anyone else that she has done things like this to. Especially the ones that have no medical background knowledge! The ONLY smart thing that Lita did do, was to order more labs to see if it stayed the same! However, she did NOT collect a urine sample from my wife. Urine samples can tell alot about kidney function to! That is medical school 101! I want to point out that Lita told my wife that the results would be in by Friday. Being scared of what might be in store for her, my wife called twice and left messages in which we found out that the results had come in but "unfortunately Lita was out of the office"! Lita didn't even have the decency to let her supervising physician know to call my wife with the results! I wasn't going to let my wife worry all weekend, so I called and asked to speak to a nurse- That nurse was the nicest, most caring, and knowledgeable person there! She didn't try to tell me anything that was above her education/pay grade and i admire her for that- she did however let me know that all of my wife's labs came back "normal". Now for the experience with the "lead nurse". I honestly do not know how in the world she even holds that title! SHE called ME! She didn't give me the time to explain my frustration, all she wanted to do was attack and talk over me, so yes! I DID tell her that an attorney sounded better to me than HER mouth! I disconnected THAT call because just as it is her right not to listen it was mine as well! The next thing that I did was call the office manager, of course I had to leave a message but she did call me back. I explained the situation and I really thought we were going somewhere with this she sounded sincere she "understood my concern for my wife". That was until she started saying things like, "I don't know what was said, there were only 2 people in the room, your wife and Lita". So my wife is a liar? Then these people put a note in my wife's chart twisting the WHOLE conversation around in their favor and said that I was "screaming and threatened an attorney several times". And trust me honey, I was NOT screaming! They also felt the need to make it known in my wife's chart that Lita and her boss were also listening to this phone call. Good! Lita is too coward to call my wife herself! They even called my wife's surgeon and told him I said that he advised me to get an atty and sue Lita! And that "he has called his malpractice attorney" Are you kidding me right now??! Whoever said that, your a damn lie and you know it! Anything to cover your ass, huh?! The office manager asked me "what would you like to come out of this" I told her that Lita owes my wife an apology for they way she handled this! Lita could have handled this better but Its whatever. The next person Lita does this to might really "sue" you! Lita needs to stay in her lane! The scope of practice she was hired for and stop trying to play doctor because she is NOT a doctor, she is hired help! Lita's bedside manner is awful, she's cold and talks down to people! My family and I have been going to Murfreesboro Medical Clinic for the past eight years. I have typically raved about the care we've received from all of our providers until this most recent time. This is the first time I can say that I have lost trust in my provider. I went to see Andrea Taylor, NP because my primary care physician, Dr. Burns was unavailable till the following week. I had lower back pain and was looking for more immediate relief. During her exam, everything went like I had expected until we started to discuss the next step. She said, "I know my bank account has a bottom floor, so I understand that the costs between x-rays and MRIs are high. We can do an x-ray if you prefer." Since she gave me the option and the way she presented it, that made me to believe that we could resolve my issue after she viewed the x-ray. So, off I go to the radiology department. Two hours later after doing the x-ray, I receive a call from someone in her office (they never said who they were) to ask me when I wanted to schedule my MRI. She said that she needs to see an MRI now and just to let me know, my liver is larger than the average human. I asked her what that meant and she said, "Who knows." Who knows? I said that couldn't my liver be enlarged because I've been taking ibuprofen for the past month for my low back pain? She said, "Maybe?" Who was this person? AND more importantly, why was I told by Ms. Taylor that I could have an option to do either an x-ray or an MRI, just to end up having to do BOTH? If I knew that, I would have just done the MRI to begin with. NOW I have to pay for both! I have a high deductible health plan, so I will be paying the majority of the expense. To beat all, I didn't leave that day with any relief - just more pain. read more

This "Clinic" mails out billing even though payment is made in full. This is a tactic, scheme that was blamed on their "system", as though they are not responsible for the programing of their system. Interesting enough, if you are like many elderly people, your bills might be paid by someone other than yourself or you may have forgotten whom you have paid at the time of service and who you have not. If you pay for your doctor's visit twice, do you think they will automatically return your payment? This scheme is used quite frequently, or allowed to happen (by mistake?). The only way this kind of unethical and shady practice stops is when people stop using the doctors that participate under these clinics. It is the only power we have against these kind of clinics and their billing practices. Blaming their self programmed systems or staff errors is still incompetence in management. read more

My family and I have been patients of MMC for nearly 20 years and I've had no complaints until recently. My child recently started seeing Dr. Kolisnyk for allergies and none of the regimens he prescribed help. I kept calling back and they keep telling me to increase her meds. The allergy office takes days to return my calls (all of them) and they have no sick appts available for weeks because they're so busy (naturally during this time of the year). What I'm upset about is the lack of acknowledgment from the Dr when I ask to add a different medicine to my child's regimen (multiple times). The most recent encounter I've had with the allergy clinic, it took them 4 days to return my call. I know you're busy but 4 days is unacceptable. The MA apologized to me but I told her I will take my child elsewhere. It appears that the allergy dept only has 1 NP and 1 MD and if this is the reason why they can't address their patients in a timely manner, then they need to hire more providers. Not to mention, the Dr's replies (in a message to his MA) to me giving my child Benadryl, which states "Benadryl is a crap antihistamine for her conditon. Stop giving it to her. The only thing left is to increase her Zyrtec and that's the only thing I can think of to do." Needless to say, my child is already doing this. Overall, I have had no complaints with the other depts (internal medicine and peds). I just wouldn't recommend their allergy dept. read more

Late yesterday afternoon, I was bitten by a neighbors dog. It wasn't a terrible bite, but enough to break the skin so I went to MMC Walk-In Clinic on New Salem to have them look at it, clean it up, and to get an antibiotic. My neighbor confirmed that the dogs shots were up to date. What I learned was that they would not treat this unless it was my dog. I was refuse any form of care out of fear that they would be sued if something later developed. REFUSED any form of care and sent down the road. I expressed my discontent with their policy and went to Ascension at West Lawn. This was a 180 degree experience. I was treated with concern and care. From the receptionist to the Dr., everyone was incredibly attentive, helpful, and caring. Within 90 minutes, my wound was treated and I had a prescription for an antibiotic. Even though my PCP, who both me and my wife think very highly of is in the MMC group in the next building, the COMPLETE REFUSAL of any form of care was SHOCKING to me. Would I recommend the Walk-In Clinic from this experience...I have an emphatic NO and would suggest that the MMC management pay more attention to customer care and less attention to their lawyers! read more

Great Providers, Shady billing practices. Had a procedure done, they c-t acted insurance and gave me a estimate. I paid the estimate. now they say I owe THOUSANDS more after the fact. Called billing, they just keep swapping you around and eventually put you on hold for 45+ minutes thinking you will just hang up. Oh yeah, if you use your insurance, they charge you 20% more than if you just paid cash. Not really even sure that's legal, but hey do it. Best providers, but horrible billing dept. read more

RUDE RECEPTIONIST! I've been going to MMC off and on for a few years now but this is the first year I've seen doctors in multiple health areas at the same time (audiology, podiatry, PCP, radiology for x-rays). As much as I want to love them, all visits this year so far except audiology, have felt rushed and incomplete. I was referred for X-rays for multiple small issues that I wanted checked out by my PCP which cost me several hundreds of dollars that she could have checked herself. I also CANNOT STAND the receptionist. I've only called to schedule appts 2-3 times since January (it's the end of April) and she's been rude and condescending each time. It also takes a month or more to even be seen by my doc. The rude receptionist and the wait times have pushed me to find new providers. read more

My husband and I were patients at MMC for years but about 3 years ago, we left the practice due to not being able to see our physician when needed, too much referral within the practice for things that really did not need to be sent to a specialist and rude office and billing staff. Recently, it became apparent that as we aged, we needed Internists to be over our care as well as Diabetic Specialists to handle my husband's insulin pump. We have re-established with 2 newer physicians to this practice and couldn't be happier. They were both great. We have both seen the same Diabetic Specialist NP who was also wonderful. She took our needs seriously, adjusted my husband's insulin pump, ordered just the appropriate labs for both of us and did not insist on changing our medicines to the latest and greatest which is never covered by our insurance plan. The other wonderful surprise is how courteous, friendly and helpful all of the office staff have been. I couldn't ask for better service. It appears they took to heart all of the comments in their reviews and have improved their practice model. It is hard to get into this practice due to the amount of patients they already have but it was definitely worth it! read more

She asked what his symptoms were, after I told her, she said they were "busy" and we would just have to take him to a walk in clinic.
