I was referred to Dr. Murphy from an ER. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. The office/front staff are very helpful and worked with me to get everything scheduled and made sure things were clear with insurance and appointments. I had to get two MRIs and the staff for those were great too. Dr. Murphy, his nurse, and PA were all great. I think they all care and I don't feel rushed or disregarded during appointments. I know they also have a walk in/urgent care part- sometimes it's super busy in there as a result. But I don't mind the wait because I know I'm going to see staff that will listen and care to make things better. I also had surgery with Dr. Murphy, and that was as good of an experience as it could be. I truly believe they care about their patients and while sometimes it might be busy, it's been worth it to me. read more

Went to Murphy Wainer Urgent care with my almost 3 year old after he fell out of a swing and hurt his arm. We didn't wait long after checking in, maybe 10 minutes. A very kind man named George took my son's X-rays and then we saw a P.A. named Caroline (she didn't give her last name) but she was very nice, also. She explained his injury and showed us his X-rays. The facility is nice. The nurses and PAs and other staff are wonderful. This rating and review is about one particular doctor and not anyone else there (who are all great). This review and rating is only about my experience with Dr. Kramer. He is the most egotistical, chauvinistic, and dismissive doctor I have ever seen. I was a very active kid, so I've been going to orthopedic doctors for years. I'm used to a variety of bedside manner styles. Dr. Kramer's "bedside manner" is no manner at all. He did not shake my hand, he did not look directly at me, and he barely examined me. I saw him two years ago for a herniated disc and was so distressed by that experience that I swore I'd never go back to him. I injured my ankle last week and needed to go to Murphy Wainer's Orthopedic Urgent Care Clinic, and it's my luck that Dr. Kramer was the doctor on duty. I had x-rays done, then waited. He breezed into the room and diagnosed me with Achilles tendinitis without even touching my ankle. All of my concerns were dismissed. When I asked any questions about other possible diagnoses, he shrugged them off and simply reiterated the diagnosis he walked into the room with. He did not perform the very simple test to check for a torn or ruptured Achilles, even if it was just to put my mind at ease. Upon my insistence for some sort of exam, he touched my ankle, squeezed my Achilles tendon gently, and then said it was just tendinitis. "It's only been a day," he said, "so of course it's still hurting." He did not offer any treatment options beyond "ice and Advil." I said that my ankle was extremely painful in certain positions, including walking, and asked for some suggestions to help with that while it heals, since I assume pain means that I should not put it in those positions. He basically shrugged and said that I shouldn't put it in those positions but offered no suggestions to avoid them. I asked him what I need to do to ensure it heals quickly and properly. He said it didn't matter and was just a matter of how much pain I could stand while it heals. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and can deal well with pain and discomfort. I insisted on something - anything - that would help facilitate healing. He said that I could wear a boot if I wanted to. I asked if that would help and was told that it would prevent my foot from going into the positions that make it hurt. I asked if he'd recommend that and he shrugged. I ended up choosing the boot as my own course of treatment without much input at all from the "medical professional" that I paid a lot to see. Once I decided on the boot, he asked my shoe size. I said that I wasn't sure and usually wore anything from an 8 to a 9. He looked at my foot and said "So probably a 6 or 7?" I reiterated 8 or 9. He left the room. On his way back with the nurse who was going to fit me with a boot, I heard him say (loudly), "She's the only female I know who doesn't know her own shoe size." Let me say that again. A doctor, a medical professional, said, loudly, right outside the exam room I was in, "She's the only female I know who doesn't know her own shoe size." I was speechless. I wanted to say so much to him in that moment, but I could not think of any words that would adequately describe my outrage at this entire experience that peaked with that one incredibly chauvinistic comment. As my last desperate attempt at getting anything useful from him, I asked for a note to put my personal training session package on hold while I heal. He said that the nurse up front would take care of that. I asked the nurse for the note and she said that the doctor is supposed to write it and sign it - she's not legally allowed to. I did eventually get the doctor's note. It's been a little over 3 days since I saw Dr. Kramer. I've stopped wearing the boot because it was making it hurt worse. My foot is now swollen at all times, my Achilles doesn't feel any better, and I'm out a couple hundred dollars. read more

Before we went on our trip to Europe in November, I saw Dr. Wainer because my left knee was making a clicking sound. According to the x-rays I still had plenty of cartilage in both knees. He gave me an injection of Cortizone and some prednisone pills and sent me on my way. I was feeling pretty good during our trip but ever since then, the knee that was "treated" has lost all its cartilage and I now need a complete knee replacement! I can barely walk, I'm in pain all the time and now have to have a major surgery. This is extremely depressing. Beware of over treatment by doctors. Sometimes they can do more damage than good. Needless to say I will never go back to him. read more

Not a bad doctor if you like being treated like cattle. 30-40 minute average wait in the waiting room, finally got called in and not even a "hello, how are doing?" Sat in the exam room for 29 minutes before Dr. Murphy came in and took 3 minutes to tell me my daughters toe is looking better. Thanks genius. I really wish they had a separate office for sports injuries and the sad saps making worker comp claims. I know if I have to go through this again I'll definitely not come back here. read more

I have had a lot of injuries in the past, but i have never, ever had a worse experience than i did with Dr. Wainer. Working in the medical field myself I understand the demeanor that doctors can have but this guy set a new low. He was rude, dismissive, treated his resident like shit, and could not have treated me, my injury, and the pain i was in with any less regard. I have obvious knee deformity, instability, intense pain, limited motion, massive swelling - a week out from the injury and I got a call from him after he looked at my MRI results that was literally "You don't need surgery right now so you're good to go back to full activity" - while i could not walk without my knee threatening to dislocate. When i asked about PT he told me to "Be an adult and do your own PT." A real stand up guy. read more

I can not recommend Murphy & Wainer for MRI service. The staff are friendly however my MRI pictures came out so blurry that my orthopedic doctor could not even use them. They expect me to pay for this poor quality MRI. read more

I went to Murphy Wainer's urgent care once for back pain and they took an x-ray and told me I had scoliosis (I already knew that) and that I needed physical therapy. When the PA heard that my mother has a chronic pain issue she said that she wouldn't prescribe me a strong painkiller because of my "mother's drug dependency", even though I told her my mom never takes anything for pain unless it's unbearable. The PA also refused to show me the x-ray because she couldn't tell me the exact degree of the scoliosis curve. That following week I spent 4 days fighting with them trying to get copies of my x-rays to show my orthopedic doctor to get his opinion. I ended up having to be late to work to go pick them up myself from the office late on Friday. Then this weekend I went back there because my orthopedic is closed on weekends and they refused to see me because they "don't see follow ups". So, I had to go to the ER instead. THE WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!! I recently went in for my initial appointment. Upon arriving I was barely greeted by the receptionist who continued to have a 10-min personal conversation right in front of me. After being tired of waiting for her to finish her conversation I found another employee to help answer my questions as this was my first time there. She was not any better. I proceeded to ask her a question regarding the copay/insurance (since no one made me aware of how financial obligations worked at the office) which she did not know the answer to and proceeded to tell me I will have to wait to find out once i am billed . Off to great start....... I was called back and received an X-Ray (before even seeing the doctor; strange but OK) and than put back into room to get dressed and wait to hear my results from the doctor. In the middle of putting my clothes back on Dr.Kramer barges in, no warning or knock. At this point, I felt completely violated as I am a women and Dr.Kramer a man. He offered no apology and proceed to bark orders. After talking a million miles per second and not allowing me to talk he than tells me "to do whatever it is i feel like i need to" as far as care. HUH?!!!? EXCUSE ME!??? He offered no help, he did not even assess my pain. He offered all advice based on the form i filled out and the "X-rays". Not to mention his appearance was not professional. By that I mean, he appeared to be on drugs. His eyes were bloodshot red and glazed over. After my appointment, I asked to speak with the office manager. Now this is where it gets crazy!!...After explaining my disgusting experience to her she proceeded to dismiss my issues and ask if I wanted to be switched to another provider within the office to continue care. HUH!!!!??? no apology was offered again!!!! Seems to be a theme with this office. BOTTOM LINE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Go to a place that will actually cater to your EVERY NEEDS and not just profit off you. read more

I went in as a referral from another patient. Apparently he had better results than I did. I was seeing Dr Wainer for my knee. This was my second surgery. He said he found some meniscus tears in my knee, well I have been dealing with that for a long time and that wasn't my concern. After my surgery I went back to tell him he didn't fix anything! My knee is way worse off now. I can't even straighten my leg out. So now I walk with a limp. He refused to correct the problem. I have spoke to a few people that went through the same ordeal that I did and had to go to another surgeon to get the problem resolved. Stay away from this place. He has no business taking peoples hard earned money to leave them with a physical ailment. I would give him a negative rating if it was possible! Dr Wainer worse Dr ever! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Wainer. He replaced both of my knees over the last 3 years and I feel as good as new. He and his staff have always been wonderful and my recovery was quick and easy. I prepared for the surgeries by working with a trainer and so my muscles were in good shape prior to the surgery. This pre-hab made the PT after the surgery short and quick. I worked hard, but Dr. Wainer was the one who made the difference. read more

I went to see Dr. Robert Wainer in Greensboro NC because I was having a lot of pain in my hip. He performed a hip replacement on my right hip that left me in even more pain. I had deep purple to almost black bruises from my waist to my right knee. Also extremely swollen. I think they should video all surgeries so I could see exactly how Dr Wainer treated me when I was "asleep", because I looked like I had been beaten with a baseball bat. It took a full 6 weeks to recover, along with lots of physical therapy. Within about 6 months, I got a call informing me that my hip had been recalled. Of course the call was not from Wainer himself, but from the maker of my hip. My husband and I had to search the country for a doctor who had lots of experience and excellent results with "revision" surgery. Revision surgery is a longer and more intrusive surgery. After the revision surgery, I had only minor bruising, little pain, and much better recovery. Dr Wainer, shame on you! If you're having hip pain, run from his office as fast as you can! Then, do plenty of research, knowing there are some great docs out there, you just have to do some homework. One star because I think I have to in order for this review to be posted. read more
