We came here for a kid's birthday party, and this park is so nice!…read more It's very spacious, lots of free parking, and lots of features. There is an extensive playground with different types of swings, merry-go-round things, a large playhouse thing, and several slides on a little hill on the playground. In the area with the slides they have turf material and there is a recycling box with cardboard so that kids can use it and also sled down the hill. They have different types of courts like for basketball, pickleball, tennis, baseball. There is lots of space to walk on the gravel path, and there is sort of a pond area (which appears to be less maintained). There are many picnic areas that are shaded too. I really liked that the area the birthday party was located had a gate so that kids wouldn't run out and away. The playground also had a gate on it too, which is great for childrens' safety and parents' ease of minds! We noticed the bathrooms are somewhat high tech with lights to activate the automatic doors and lights to indicate that the bathroom is occupied. I didn't go in, so I can't comment on cleanliness/upkeep. Wish this kind of park was more common. I would highly recommend this park!

The fact alone that this park has bathrooms makes it awesome…read more I have been coming to this park my entire life. It has definitely gotten some upgrades. New magical bridge playground opens this weekend. It's not even open yet and it looks beautiful so far :) It has a dog park, a trail, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a baseball field. I almost forgot, the ducks! It has a lake with ducks! I like walking the trail because there are plenty of trees which creates shade, so it's not just sunny. The bathrooms are located in between the tennis courts and the baseball field. Also, parking is free! Anyone can come with children, strollers, solo individuals, people with dogs, anyone. Everyone is in their own world, living their life with nature.

This review is mostly for the experience with the dog park…read more There are enclosed sections for both the small and dog play areas. They have artifice grass, dog water fountains, and benches for the humans. It gets popular on the weekend mornings. There's a corgi South Bay meet up every Sunday. I try to bring my corgi here a few times to socialize. She still prefer to get pets from human strangers by the benches than to play with canine buddies. It's ok if your dog is shy or not into dog parks; I don't want to force it and let her play a bit and take the cue to leave when she doesn't play anymore. some dog just prefer smaller play dates kinda like introverted humans lol. There are kids playground here like a slide, swings, see saw, jungle gym. It's on the newer cleaner side. It's kind of a small park... It's definitely way less than 1 mile circumference so I'd half to walk multiple laps for my dog to get sufficient exercise for us both. I rather not go here for actually waking though and go to a bigger park. This park is mostly for playing/ socializing with the dogs. There a biking path that runs through this park and if you follow it you can pas behind residential areas to the water tower. Parking can be tricky the lot is small and on Sundays there is game practice on the field (soccer). Sometime I find nearby parking by the curb close by.

This is a horrible dog park. The best part is that it is fenced and has a water faucet…read more Annie had a great time meeting 4 overized loveable dogs. Had they not been there, this trip would have been pathetic. There is just old gravely dirt and no sign of grass for miles. Not that it has to have an apparatus for the dogs to play in, on, or under, but that would be nice. If you're in the area, there's a dog park in Morgan Hill on Edmunson that has grass.

I went today to the Gilroy, CA dog park for the first time. No one was there so I can't give it any…read moremore than 3 stars because half the experience is the people and dogs who go there. Due to that, I will just tell you what you need to know about layout. The Gilroy Dog Park is located in a nice city park with plenty of parking, bathrooms, & picnic tables in the park. I *loved* the multiple signs pointing the way to the dog park! The park appears to be maintained. In the dog park there is: A section for "small dogs" & a section for "large dogs" (not the typical small & ALL sections I am used to). Small dogs can go into the large area *at owners risk* (typical of my other dog parks). Note: I have a "small" dog but almost always go into the "all" dog sections of dog parks. The dog park has lots of trash cans, doggie poop bags in dispensers posted in many locations, shade, benches, fresh water in both sections, "push bar" gates, 4 foot fences and a bulletin board. The ground appears to be dirt but it might be "decomposed granite" that needs to be refreshed (see photos). My only complaint was that the water drain on the "big dog section" was clogged and backed up, I am currently asking around for who to contact to fix it. Today, 18 July 2012, it was only 84 degrees at 12 noon. Hopefully this is not the lamest review I have ever given for a dog park.....but I did want to 1.) add this dog park in Yelp (check), 2.) tell ya'll what you should know (check) and post multiple *good* photos (check). If I go back, if my dog gets to play with others I would be happy to give the place more stars. I am *not* from Gilroy nor do I go to Gilroy often, but my 2 year old dog has gone to more than 30 dog parks and I have something to offer in that department.

This new dog park is listed as "Piedmont Road dog park" under Google maps since it is technically…read moreon Piedmont Road but also connected to Penitencia Park. The park is divided in two: big dog and small dogs. Its mostly just dry dirt with some tanbark along the edges. No poop bags are provided however, there is a spot for some tennis balls and a water fountain along with a big bowl. Theres 4 benches mostly parked under the shade of big trees so you can expect a bit of seating. Parking right next to the dog park is pretty limited as it's mostly just street parking along Piedmont Road. No food or drinks are allowed and people, for the most part, follow the rules. Sometimes people bring their medium/large dogs into the small dog park so do keep an eye on your dog. The park is pretty well kept and clean throughout despite no bags being provided. Most of the people who frequent this park seem very kind and warm. If you have a social pup, I would come here and check it out.

I briefly visited from out of town for a breed specific meet up so my experience is not that of a regular. Pros include the spaciousness, real grass, bench seating, mature trees providing shade, trash bins inside the park area including poop scoopers, and a water fountain/bowl. When I went the water fountain wasn't working. I did some research beforehand. (Google Maps calls this the Piedmont Road Dog Park. I don't know if that's the official name.) They don't have poop bags either. I think these drawbacks will likely be remedied in the future. I've seen at other dog parks the community members step up and install back up poop bags or bring in stainless steel troughs for the water. In the meantime, bring your own bags and water! The one thing I really did not like was the parking situation. Piedmont seems very busy. There isn't a parking lot to pull into. I drove past the park initially. It's street parking on Piedmont with some areas of the curb being red or green. The solution would be for someone to park in a lot inside the park (another entrance) and to walk to the dog parks. There's also a shopping plaza across the street and residential streets nearby if you don't mind crossing the street. The real grass and mature trees/shade are really rare for a dog park! I could see this place being five stars for someone that lives in the area and is more experienced with the parking situation than me.
