Love this park- there's a lot of grass to walk your dog in/around and the separation for big and small dogs is much appreciated. Only thing is there is a LOT of bird poop in the nearby grass so be careful if your dog likes to roll around. There are also a lot of gophers here, which the dogs often fixate on so be aware so that your dog doesn't get bitten or scratched! This dog park is a little less lively compared to some parks up north, so sometimes we just stay for a short while. This dog park definitely has a small town feel to it- it seems like most of the community members here know each other, and they are usually friendly and inclusive. Interesting note though- on a couple occasions, I've talked with dog owners who suddenly get into politics unprompted and I found that to be a bit awkward lol Most people are good about watching their dogs here and picking up after them, and it seems generally well-maintained. read more

One of the best dog parks in the area. Most of the dog owners I've spoken to have said so, they even drive out from different places to bring their pooch to this one. It's a large enclosed area relatively well kept. It does get busy during the weekend especially during the mornings. But best part is, the park is large enough to accommodate a lot of dogs and people. Some of the nicest and friendliest dogs/people come here. Definitely a great place for your pooch to exercise. It can get smelly sometimes. But I like how it gets cleaned frequently. And looks like new set of balls are left for the dogs after the cleaning. read more

Of all the dogs park in Santa Clara County, none compare to Morgan Hill's dog park.  The only dog park, to my knowledge, which is superior is Carmel Beach. Many of the other reviewers are spot-on, in regards to the size and quality of the park.  The grass, shade, benches and vast size are both dog and owner friendly. Also, I've met nothing but really nice and responsible dog owners at this park. I've also noticed the City of Morgan Hill does a really good job maintaining the park.  Weekly, they mow the lawn and patch worn out spots.  They recently aerated the lawn and usually open, despite the rain. However, please don't allow this HORRID owner to ruin your experience. My dog is usually wiped out by the time we make it home.  Its because of the other playful dogs and wonderful owners out there.   I've made a ton of new friends from our daily visits and learn more about each breed.  I'm very lucky to live 5-minutes from this park. read more

I like this dog park for large dogs because it is ample space for them to run, play and real grass with water. What I don't like is lazy ignorant dog owners who know their dog is pooping and ignore picking it up by looking around to see who is watching and walking away. Clean up after your dog! As for the small dog park, I don't take my dog there it's nasty! Yeah we seen that stupid group in a circle of idiots on how to bully others and ignore your mutts and talk shit about others not in your stupid circle. I don't have a dog but I have a 16 month old daughter that LOVES dogs! We decided to spend a Sunday morning at the dog park so that she could watch her favorite animals run around. The park is located in the same location as the Centennial Rec Center - be prepared as they only have about a dozen parking spots directly in front of the dog park. They have a small dog area and a large dog area. When we went, there were only dogs in the large dog area (there were some smaller dogs in there too). There are a ton of tennis balls, water bowls and a shaded area with a bench. My daughter walked around and the dogs that were there that day were very well behaved and kept their distance from her. She enjoyed walking around on the grass while watching the dogs play. The owners were very good about picking up after their dogs so we didn't step in any dog poop during our time there. If I ever get a dog, I would definitely take my dog there to socialize with other dogs. read more

Was so disappointed with our visit to the Gilroy Dog Park that we had to check this one out. Much better. There is a section for small dogs and a section for large dogs. There are shaded areas and a few benches, but I guess the most important thing is that there is grass. Annie found a few friends here too. Small dog park review : We've been coming to this dog park multiple times a week - I find that the bigger dog park has more experienced owners and the small dog park has owners that don't keep an eye on their dogs. Particularly the group that comes in the morning and sits in a circle together. They aren't welcoming to new people and usually are busy talking and don't always notice when their dogs poop. Disclaimer : larger dog park I give 5 stars - the owners take responsibility for their dogs behavior. Dogs misbehaving is NORMAL but it's important that owners correct as needed. I watched as one of the large groups dogs chased a small puppy for several minutes and the puppies owner had to run and pick up her dog and yelled to ask the bigger dogs owner to correct her dog. The puppies owner also had a child and was clearly overwhelmed. The large group was silent and the owner with the dog misbehaving. I've seen this group laugh at the expense of other owners when one of their dogs misbehave, I actually find it sort of outside of the "Morgan hill friendly culture." Today a lady with a small snappy dog yelled at my dog for just approaching hers. I stuck up for my dog and a man with 2 dogs made a joke and everyone started laughing. I took my dog to the larger dog park and an owner had overheard the whole thing while walking by and apologized. And, not the first time large dogs owners in the bigger park share frustrations with the morning group that sits in a circle between 9-11:30 am. For anyone in that group who reads this - it's common knowledge that you're large morning group is unfriendly, doesn't watch your dogs and isn't welcoming. I hope you all become better peace keepers with new residents rather than allowing your dogs to bully. And for some of you that bully other owners, remain silent when your dogs misbehave, and or laugh at the expense of others - you make Morgan hill look bad. read more

Coming back to this park after a few years (used to live in San Jose), although still a good one, doesn't have the same feeling it used to have -- the grounds have become worn down, and I encountered several owners who did nothing when their dogs misbehaved. Part of the large dog park was taken out to make the small park a bit larger...which doesn't affect the large one that much but it's much better for the small dog park, so I'm sure the small dog owners love that, and that's great ... But the large side kind of lost its magic a little bit. I used to drive down here from SJ even though there are plenty of other dog parks there -- I had thought this was the best of all of them. Now I feel this is no longer a "destination" dog park for us when we visit the area -- I'll stick with the much better Hellyer in South SJ. read more

Very good dog park. Been there once (4-19-2012), which was the day it opened back up after the grass was re-seeded. Location: near Monterey Ave and W. Edmundson in Morgan Hill, CA in the Morgan Hill Community Park. 6 foot fences, (what I call) the 'all dog' section is so big you hardly know there are fences, a smaller little dog section, lots of grass, shade trees, fresh water with two spouts on both sides with drains!, bags provided, real (and clean) bathrooms just past the tennis courts with soap and sink, permanent benches, tennis balls ---- and nice dogs and nice people! I love the rule that children are not supposed to chase dogs. (common sense to me, but have had to deal with way too many over the top children throwing each other to the ground, hitting each other with 2x4's, more) Would I change anything? Of course (been to 25 dog parks?) but it is a very short list: I would change this: Small Dog Section currently has a 'height line' which never really works as, ie, Basset Hounds can, and do, go in & are too much for small dogs (have witnessed 1st hand serious injury with this). Pick a weight to cap the small dog section at (I say 25 lbs) and stick to that. I would change the signs to: Small Dogs and All Dogs (all sized dogs are currently in the 'big' section). The only dog park I have ever been to with a dedicated 'big dog only' section was a dog park that had THREE sections: small, big and all. If you do not have all three? then they are *always* small dogs and all dogs. My 15 lb Schipperke & I are almost always in the 'all dog' section. I would: add a rule where dog owners are NEVER to have their leashed dogs in an off-leash area. I would explain why (leads to leash aggression on both sides, Google it if new to the concept). Today a lady was in the all dog section with two 4 month old small breed puppies on leashes. I encouraged her to take them off the leashes, explained why and she did it. My old dog park had this rule....as do others. Scared your first time to dog park? GO EARLY or LATE. Make it your own - alone. Then go the next time when a few dogs are there, and on. When I'm visiting my mom in San Jose, this is my favorite nearby (and by nearby, I mean within 20 miles) off-leash area to bring my dogs when they need to get their ya-yas out. I think that I have finally figured out that the "dog parks" in San Jose are really targeted to apartment dwellers that have no other place to potty their dogs -- at least that's the only explanation I can come up with for the postage stamp-sized, fenced gravel areas between highway overpasses that are labeled " dog parks." The Morgan Hill dog park, in contrast, is actually park-like. In fact, it is in the Morgan Hill city park, which is itself a very nice community park. The big dog area is respectably large -- long enough east-to-west to merit using a ChuckIt, though from north-to-south I could probably accidentally throw a ball over the fence even with my wimpy arm and girly throwing form. The park is nicely landscaped with well-maintained grass, hilly terrain, some nice trees and benches, and a gravel path around the periphery. I brought my dogs here after a few days of pretty constant rain, and was impressed with the condition of the park. Yes, there were a few muddy areas in low spots, and really what dog doesn't love a little mud? But for the most part, the park had drained really well, so I was able to walk around the trail several times without getting bogged down. There weren't many other dogs at the park when I went, but I was pleased to see that the other couple of owners there were really attentive to their dogs. This dog park is a really nice option when you don't have the time or the wherewithal to take a day trip to Ft. Funston, Carmel, or some of the other great off-leash areas that are available in Northern California. read more

All of Monterey has tan bark in their parks. No grass. It's so frustrating. This dog park has shade and lots of grass for the dogs to run in. I wouldn't come anytime close to if having rained and you have to watch out for other people's overly aggressive dogs but it's a really nice park. read more

Whenever I go here I understand how it might feel to have kids. I'll bring Dexter here from time to time and each time I feel so nervous for him. Like I want him to spread his wings and be his own individual, but I'm just so nervous of him falling and getting hurt. I want to see him fly and flourish so badly, but I need to start to understand that falling is part of the game...the game of life. So next time I go here I'm going to try to accept all the emotions that come with watching my dog fly and sometimes fall throughout life. This means that I need to start to accept that sometimes Dexter may sniff or eat another dog's poop and I need to be okay with that. I don't need to be okay with the action, but I do need to be okay with the reality that Dexter does hold the power to sniff/eat another dog's poop, that's his right. He might decide to fly (ignore another dog's poop) or he might decide to fall (sniff/eat another dog's poop), but the choice will always be his. read more

Nice large small dog area. I visited once and sadly saw an owner faced the wrong way and not clean up after her white dog. There is a very nice covered seating area in the middle of the small dog park but the seats should be faces out towards dog but it was more like a dining room table. There is a great watering showing station with provided tubs. There are both grassy and sandy areas. This small dog park has trees and is rectangular shaped. The entrance is shared with the big dogs so there could be a conflict. Plenty of parking but I missed the sign and it is extremely hard to do a k turn as there is no extra shoulder. Beware the speed bumps are very low speed ones. read more

I've seen a couple of dog parks in my days.. This is nice place to take your friendly dog/dogs any afternoon! Their are two separate areas: one for small dogs and one for the big dogs. There's a lot of grass, a couple of scattered trees, fresh drinking water for dogs, plenty of benches, and a trail that goes around the park area. While walking around you'll be able to find tennis balls to throw and also plenty of bags are provided to pick up your dogs crap! I've been here many times and have only once seen a dog get aggressive. This was a full grown doggy all over a puppy. The altercation was quickly resolved and the owner of the aggressive dog then left the park after apologizing. Things can always happen but for the most part this is a dog park where dog's will be dogs. read more

Best doggy park I've been to. People and their dogs are friendly and for the most part follows the rules that are listed. Small dogs and big dogs are separated. Their are tons of buckets to fill with water and tennis balls for your pups to play with. If you bring a toy for your dog, know that other dogs will play with it too/ get it dirty, so if you don't want that to happen, don't bring it. Outside of the fence is a small duck pond, dogs must be leashed at this area. I like to sit in the shade here to relax with the pup after running around in the fence area before we drive home. The small dog area seems to have less maintenance than the big dog space from what I see, but nothing too terrible .. maybe just need to redirect their sprinkler system? read more

Allow me to reassure you, she is a chronic problem and an isolated incident/owner. The owner who thinks her dogs are "herding" is one of the worst owners there. She has a pair of Australian Shepards named Briscoe and Brimley. Whichever one has the black/white spots is the aggressive one. Many people, including myself, have told her to leave. You're right, she thinks its appropriate. I asked her if it was appropriate when her dog pierced my dog's ear and bled everywhere...also when she gave a boxer an extra nostril. Every time she comes, I call Animal Control, who are more than helpful. However, please don't allow this HORRID owner to ruin your experience. My dog is usually wiped out by the time we make it home. Its because of the other playful dogs and wonderful owners out there. I've made a ton of new friends from our daily visits and learn more about each breed. This is absolutely my favorite dog park ever! This dog park has a huge space for dogs and owner, my dog loves all the shade and hilly landscaping, it makes for a really good work out for my hyper doggy who does not tire easily. There is a walking path that circles the park and I walk around when he gets hot and lays down in the shade. I like that I can take him to one side of the park when he wants to be left alone with his ball, he gets a bit territorial with his balls sometimes so I have to get him away from others. I think it could use a couple more faucets and some more dog toys and trash bins as well as more doggy bag locations but other than those minor details I am in love with this play yard. Whenever I have some extra time I take a little road trip out here and bond with my dog. Make sure you visit this park at least once, I guarantee your dog will love it! read more

This place is really hit-or-miss. Our baby has had some great fun at this park but she has also been attacked a few times. They have it split up into a side for large dogs and a side for small which is a good idea, but a lot of the dogs on the small side are cranky and some of the dogs on the big side are aggressive. If you come in the middle of the day during the week it's pretty safe, generally only a few dogs, but there are some dogs (or some owners I should say) who really ought not to be allowed to visit this park. People with aggressive dogs shouldn't let them attack other people's dogs, our pup has been kind of traumatized here on occasion. One dog even bit clean through her ear. You can usually tell which dogs are going to be a problem though by scoping out the owners. We still come sometimes, but it's not regulated or anything so you are really on your eon about your dog's safety. But like I said, for the most part the dogs are nice. read more

This park is by far one of the best ones Lola has been to in the bay area. Not quite as big as Point Isabel, but much larger than the Fremont Dog Park. Plenty of benches, many trees for shade as well as a man made shelter. Natural grass as opposed to turf, which is great but understandably leads to a 24 hr. Closure after rain. A dirt path leads the way around the outside of the large grass area and over some small hills.. There's are 3 kiddie pools located on gravel for the dogs as well as faucets to fill them up nearby. This is all in the big side of the dog park. There is one kiddie pool for the small dog side. Overall a really nice setting for a dog park. read more

My favorite dog park!! We live in Gilroy and sadly our "dog park" is majorly lacking. Thankfully Morgan Hill has this place! My three pups love it, always have a blast, and leave tuckered out. I can't understand why a bad experience with another dog should weigh in against the dog park itself. I love, LOVE, love the Mo Hill dog park. Rolling grassy hills, shady areas, a water faucet and plenty of room to run and explore. Lots of free poop bags create an environment that is clean and safe from all but the most tenacious land mines! People as a whole seem really friendly and I've had no issue with any dogs at the park. There is a separate section for small dogs which is helpful for the little guys. My smaller dog thinks she's a big dog, so I generally let her run free with our other large breed pups. There's a walking track so that you can meander together or bring a blanket and something to drink and let the doggies run until they're pooped! read more

I pass by this park on my way to my aunts house who lives in morgan hill. I live in San Jose so its about a 10miles from my house. but none the less i wanted to go there one day. Everyone there was super friendly and welcomed me to the park. There is a small and large dog side with a water fountain for dogs by the door and doggie bags. What i really love is the laaaaarge space for dogs to run around it, the grassy hills, shady areas, and clean benches to sit on. It is very well maintained.. would think so considering it is the only dog park in morgan hill... And if your dog gets tired of playing you can take him on a walk in the community park and watch some geese and ducks waddling around :) read more
