It's almost always worth skipping dessert at whatever city centre restaurant I'm eating in to make the trip to Murphy's. Their delicious ice cream comes in exciting and different flavours and they always seem to be experimenting with different tastes - I most recently saw chili flavoured ice cream had been added. Wasn't brave enough to give it a go but I like to see they're still pushing the boat out! Even if you're new to the idea of brown bread ice cream, sea salt ice cream, or gin ice cream...go for all three! I can't even bring myself to order the usual suspects anymore, these three flavours are so unique and delicious. The only drawback of Murphy's...it's quite expensive. Don't expect a cheap dessert! About a year ago, walked into Murphys for the first time and I totally fall in love with the holiday beach feeling, the blue and white furniture, the surfboard on the wall and the matching music. I really recommend the raspberry one its just fruity, not too sweet especially the way I adore sorbet ice-cream. Moreover chocolate and vanilla are really tasty too! Yes, Murphy's is so good that it does in fact inspire poetry. This is the taste of Ireland - freshly made from the milk of Kerry cows, blessed by pure Irish flavours of Bailey's, brown bread, and honeycomb. Wander to the Irish sea (salt), through fields of lavender, mint, and berries. You'll even find the names of the ice cream in Irish (Gaelic). Where else in the world can you taste Arann donn and bó chiarraí (brown bread and Kerry cream)? And, even though I have taken poetic license and grouped these together, the Brothers Murphy don't - churning each one out on its own. They have also smuggled in a few imports like rum (raisin) and chocolate (dark and milk and chipped), as well as mango and balsamic (trust me, it's awesome). But, you are very welcome (this is an Irishism!) to mix and match (imports and domestic!), and I highly recommend such double dipping. They can squeeze at least two flavors into even a small cup. (Ireland IS the home of the Guinness World Records, after all.) The friendly staff is happy to make combo recommendations - or just let the flavours inspire you. The good (and bad) news is that some of the choices change like the Irish weather - but you'll always find delicious mainstays alongside seasonal tastes (Christmas pudding!). And, if you were wondering about how the Irish stay warm in the cold and rainy season (Hah!), try one of the incomparable affogatos or something from the hot chocolate menu (Yes, menu!)
