We concluded I could toss them in the trash and then I asked about my service, she was knowledgeable, efficient, didn't waste time, but was friendly and polite. I'd recommend her at the very least, although I've had no complaints with Murreys Disposal either. Every time we get even a bit of snow, they refuse to collect the garbage. Debbie in customer service is great! She knows how to deliver top notch service. Our trash can size varies based on the season. Debbie listened to the issues we had, took the initiative to talk with her supervisor, and developed a great plan that would suit our needs going forward. Very frustrating that they can cancel garbage and recycling pickup because of the threat of snow and ice. It wasn't even all that bad. Certainly not bad enough for us customers to not be out going to work to pay our Murray's bill. When they cancel service of course don't give a credit, they say you can put out extra a week later. Well, first of all, how we to save and put out recycling from 4 weeks when the container is full after 2 weeks. Especially during Christmas. The other thing is lots of people end up taking their garbage to the dump so they are basically paying twice for crappy Murray's service. I wish they had competition. Always missed pickung up my trash. Driver needs to get an eye test can't do simple job! Also some of the lady in the office when you call them they will tell you that it will be pick up within the day. But not gonna happen I called several times for my trash to be pick up. Prices going up, trash littered on the street, cans broken without replacement, nasty-gram collection letters if you're even remotely late on the bills, and no legal options to loose yourself from this harrassment! My waste Disposal bin was broke over a month ago I've been calling them to replace it every week since not only does it take a half hour to get through to anyone but today while on hold for 45 minutes was told leave a message and will call you back they never called us back. If I had another waste management company to choose from I would. What a terrible way to run a business. read more

My garbage can fell into their garbage truck when it was picked up. I contacted them and the had no problem replacing it, the issue I have is they said there drivers that drop off cans have strict schedules and the soonest it can be dropped off is five days later. I asked if I could place my garbage in my recycling or yard waste bin until it was picked up next. The response I received was "to keep it in my garage or the side of my house". I am in the process of escalating this to find a reasonable solution. Hopefully all works out, but I am definitely not leaving my garbage with food and other items that smell in my garage, or on the side of my house for animals to find. read more

The cost of garbage service is outrageous compared to any other areas I compared it to. In Bellevue, the costs are much lower, and they don't charge an extra 4 bucks a week if you lid is open a bit due to garbage inside of the container. In Bellevue they also don't charge if you leave extra bags of garbage on top or near the garbage cans, as M.A. does. In Bellevue and in other areas, they don't charge extra fees for green waste cans, and then charge two MORE extra charges for recycling. If a super expensive area like Bellevue has much lower costs for garbage, how does M. A. get away with charging so much and tacking on all of these 'extra' fees? I moved from California, and the garbage service there was so much better as well, and it was a much lower cost with just one low cost for all three services; garbage, recycling and yard waste. I even got a kitchen food waste container. Why does it cost so much more here in Pierce County? How do they get away with charging so much? What is going on here? When there was snow on the roads, our garbage was not picked up. Customer service was rude and unhelpful. My bill included a charge for the week when we had no service. I wish there were another company to do business with! But Murray got the city's contract, so we are stuck with them. read more

Their work ethic is like my cats' self-discipline. There is none. My neighbors and I, total of 4 households, have been experiencing service issues with this company on a regular basis for the last 3 years. Sometimes the bins are not emptied completely. Sometimes, they are not emptied at all. When that happens, we text each other (Yes, we have a group chat going) to see if they missed all of us, or just one or two of us. If lucky, we get to speak with Customer Service and get an instruction what to do. If not, we just forever wait for their response. Honestly, it is so bad that I refuse to turn automatic payment on for their service. On Feb 8, Day 1 of the snowy weekend, their truck picked up the trash of our nextdoor neighbors and drove past our bins in the morning while it started snowing later in the afternoon. Literally, they took the garbage from 46 but not from 44/42 ~. They take the safety of their employees into consideration. Sure. Although it was not snowing yet and the road was not slippery, but sure. Maybe it was already snowing in Fife? Maybe. I would like to be understanding and reasonable for that particular day they missed the service. But after multiple service failure, it's rather disappointing and aggravating to be told, "Please continue to call us when you are missed for services." instead of assuring us that they would do their utmost to avoid such service failure, we are told to continue to call and alert them of their negligence so they can keep track of this issue. If they were actually keeping track of these issues, it would not repeat so often. I am not entirely surprised by this response from their customer service, though, since they do not even respond to half of the inquiries I place through their contact form. After Feb 8 weekend, we apparently received notification in regards to them allowing extras on the following pick-up day at no cost. We can't put bags of garbage outside of the bin for hours in our area without exciting hungry rats, crows and seagulls out there actively looking for food. I wish we had other options or other service providers in the area. I am tired of paying for something they fail to provide on a regular basis. read more

Yesterday was our normal garbage and recycling day. We had our cans out as usual and they weren't picked up. It has happened before, no big deal. Someone always shows up within a couple of days. Disgusting service! I wish there was couple of choices for garbage companies. Seems like the drivers are sleeping or drunk early morning because every other week they miss our garbage and we waste our time calling the worst customer service department and they always have excuses. During December they had an excuse that its holiday season so the drivers must have been busy. Oh guess what they don't waste any time sending you the bill. They also kept changing me for an extra unit when I don't have any. Even the managers don't care!! Worst recycling efforts I've heard of. Buy your own garbage bin?! Really? It's all about rules and fee's - don't do this, you can't do that or we charge you for everything. They missed picking up our and neighbors cans, call them and instead of being apologetic, cop and attitude and question me. Then say just keep it out for two more days, our drivers should by. Had a tree fall down in my backyard. Requested a container for yard waste. Quoted a price for a 40 yard container, but it was too big to fit in my driveway. So they dropped off a 30yd instead; at roughly the exact same amount as the 40yd. I put the tree in the container and had more space left. When I called for pick up of the contain the person I spoke with asked me if I wanted to add any other materials besides yard waste and that it would only be an extra $80 bucks... so I say sure why not. They take the container the following day and that's the end right? Nope, I get a voicemail 3 months later saying I have a past due balance of $140.00.... apparently I was able to dispose of almost 2 tons (4000 lbs) of yard was, an old bbq grill, and a few boxes on my own with a bad back... make sure you have them weight that stuff... also was told that since the amount was more than the original quote, I had to submit another payment, which I have no documentation of before the phone call in January. Thankfully it didn't go to collections... Was totally unsatisfied with the service I received. read more

I give Murray's a 1 only because I have to give some rating in order to express my dissatisfaction with this company. My main problems with this company are: 1. They nickel and dime their customers to death. They already raise the rates constantly but apparently thats not good enough. 2. If I don't leave trash out I still get billed... they have done no work to bill me for but none the less I pay the same. 3. On top of that they have a monopoly on my town and so we have no choice of different service providers that we find fair. In fact there is no incentive for this company to be fair. I just called to have a yard waste bin added to our account. I was on hold for 10 minutes with a very unpleasant tape, listening to things I did NOT want to hear, and then having it "ring" as though someone is about to pick up, then told my place in line and to keep on holding. Finally, after ten minutes, "Sara" answered. She could not get my account number right, she could not find my phone number, or my name on the account. When she finally found it, she told me that I was being disrespectful and I explained that I was upset about the long wait and the unpleasant tape I was forced to hear, which is disrespectful to customers Sara said she would add the yard waste bin, and then, when she was finished I said goodbye and waited for her to hang up. I waited a full five minutes, occasionally asking if someone was still there and if the transaction was complete. Finally, when said I was in the process of submitting a complaint through the website, she spoke up to say "We do not hang up on our customers" although she had ignored me several times when I tried to find out if someone was still on the line. I really really dislike calling this company and have put off adding the yard waste bin for months for that reason. Their tape is inexcusably unpleasant and disrespectful, the wait time is ridiculous, and the person who answers, finally, often lacks basic competence to help customers. Considering the wait time, it was really appalling that Sara would just sit there on the phone ignoring me and failing to disconnect the call. read more

I own a business in Puyallup and Murrey's will periodically miss picking up both garbage and recycling for no apparent reason. Has happened more frequently recently with garbage prompting my review. Currently my garbage container is overflowing and the receptionist I spoke with yesterday assured me it would get picked up. I just left another message on their voicemail. Yesterday was garbage today, they took 1/4 of our garbage. They said if it's wedged in it was 8.97 to have them come back out. I said it wasn't and they would come back in 2-3 days, but would flag our account. We have lived in the same house for over 19 years and NOW YOU WANT TO FLAG OUR ACCOUNT because your machine doesn't empty our garbage. What HORRIBLE customer service. Great customer service! Excellent place to work. The company absolutely loves and cares for their employees and the communities they serve. They do annual food drives (multiple times a year) for schools and food banks. They build hundreds of bicycles every year so that kids of struggling lower income families can get a nice new bike. They volunteer for community projects like park clean ups. As an employee myself I have received a lot of help from Murrey's. I was homeless with my wife and 2 kids when I first started working for Murrey's. They supplied my family with a full thanksgiving meal, Christmas gifts for not only my 2 kids but for my wife and myself as well. I have been working with them for less than a year and now they are giving me an opportunity to advance my career by going to school to get my CDL. Most of the other comments I'm seeing on here sound like people that either have been late paying their bills so their accounts were suspended and didn't like the answers they are given. The other comments are from people that don't seem to understand that even the slightest amount of ice on the roads can pose an extremely unsafe condition for very large commercial vehicles. Everyone at Murrey's that I have met, or had an opportunity to work with is nothing but 100% professional and extremely friendly. It won't let me rate a zero :( I had originally called them to let them know they were picking up trash at abandoned houses so they appreciated the tip so much, they put a note on my account to not pick up the cans. Nice. Twice they have left my trash and don't come back to pick it up. They refuse to give credit. I have always paid my bill on time, which they acknowledge. Murrey's is incapable of picking up yard waste. They've missed my whole street the last 3 pickups, and everytime we call, we're told it will be fixed. But then when we call again, no notes have been added. We are told it will be picked up in 1-2 business days, and yet we're still going on a month worth of yard waste sitting in my bin. For months I had missed pick ups of garbage or yard waste bin/recycle bin. I would call for service and always a different answer. Finally I demanded to speak to supervisor. I am over 70 and to drag bins out and not get them picked up is hard. then I have to drag full bins back. Supervisor comes out and GUESS WHAT! NO response on my missed bins but Instead of one "pack in service fee" of $20 that I have paid for 35 years, they say they need to charge $20 for garbage bin/yard waste/recycle and now instead of $20 they are charging $60 per billing!!! NO NOTICE the charge just shows up on my bill! and still today they missed picking up my garbage and yard waste! DOUBLE up they tell me and we will get it in the next two weeks...what? I pay extra for you to pick this up and then you don't? Pretty soon they will quit altogether and still bill me $108 a month. read more

Back in February, we had a freak snow day in our neighborhood. It was on our regularly scheduled garbage pickup day. I would like to say this team does a phenomenal job. Often garbage men are overlooked or just seen as someone who picks up garbage and that's just their job. Every week our garbage man stops to take time to talk to my son, connect, show him all about the garbage truck and has become more than the garbage man to him, he is his friend. He even went out of his way to bring his A Christmas and birthday gift. My son waits each week to see the garbage man Abel and takes him treats. So often they go unnoticed but they truly are a caring team who go outside the duties of just a garbage man. So often kids look up to the police, the fireman, but to see a kid light up so much from seeing the garbage man and his kind acts gives a greater appreciation for what they do on a daily basis. Murrey's is the only waste pick up service available in our community. The recycling service does not accept glass, which at least for my family is the single bulkiest and heaviest material we recycle. It has become a major chore to recycle all of our glass. In addition, on pick up day our recycle bin and trash can are often left in the street, or lids off on rainy days, necessitating draining the bin before using it again. Unfortunately, we have no other option so we are stuck with Murrey's. read more

It is an unreasonable expectation of the general public to weigh trash containers. Furthermore it is unreasonable to expect the general public to then find another means for disposing of this trash. We pay for a service that we get no other option but to use a single vendor. Clearly the Washington State Utility and Transportation has forced the customers in this part of Pierce County to utilize a vendor with a substandard investment in equipment. read more
