Beautiful architecture in a spare room

Whether or not you're a fan of Cubism, everyone knows Picasso--and the Picasso Museum in Barcelona is an absolute must to understand the origins of this brilliant mind. There a handful of Picasso Museums around the world, but the one in Barcelona is worth a visit as this was not only the first museum dedicated to Picasso's work, but also the only one created while he was alive. The museum is sectioned off by eras of Picasso's life, starting with his early formal training under his father, Jose Ruiz, at age 7 and his earlier works when his family were his muses. I always knew Picasso was talented, but I had no idea just how truly multifaceted he was. Entry is by timed ticket, and can be reserved for free 4 days before your actual visit between certain hours. NOTE: If you need to use the bathroom, hold on to your ticket--you'll need to scan it for re-entry.

How can you not give a lovely museum 5 stars? The building itself is really cool -- a series of connected medieval palaces with beautiful courtyards and stone details -- and the exhibits are genuinely interesting. You get to see Picasso's early works and sketches, which give great insight into his evolution as an artist, plus some of his famous Blue Period pieces and later reinterpretations of Velázquez's Las Meninas. I'll admit, I'm more the type who'd rather wander the streets of Barcelona than hang out in a museum, so I'm probably not the best art critic. But still -- it's Picasso! Totally worth a visit. And the best part? Afterward, I grabbed an amazing lunch of tapas and beers just around the corner. Perfect way to cap off the visit. 5 stars all around, lol.

Museu Picasso is a must-visit when visiting Barcelona. Though we had visited Malaga, Spain during our trip, the birthplace of Picasso, Museu Picasso houses thousands of art pieces, from rough drafts to finished work. The entrance is beautiful and open. There are many paths directing you to tickets, lockers, restrooms, and the gift shop. However, everything was fairly easy to find. After purchasing your tickets, you can pickup your headphones for a self-guided tour. The restrooms were very clean and the gift shop was bright with many Picasso-themed souvenirs. The museum is large and we never felt overcrowded. You can easily spend over three hours here if you're fully invested in art history and Picasso's work. My husband and I spent maybe an hour and a half to two hours total, especially admiring Picasso's Blue Period. Museu Picasso is truly a beautiful museum, is well maintained, and is fully of history. It's incredible seeing so much of one man's work from the early 1900s inside a modern day building.

Second rate collection of Picasso's works. No great profound pieces or renowned treasures. I would recommend going to a national gallery or museum over this; where they actually have more credible and interesting pieces. It's a very small museum as well. They're just using Picasso's name as a ploy to get people in.

Tickets vary by group, age, etc. a spectacular location in the city. Walking is the best option to access as there is no parking close by and the area is very pedestrianized. Crazy crowded at midday, it wasnt bad when we arrived that morning but by the time we exited the building it was ridiculous crowded. Okay exhibits. Not just Picasso's work. Very rare pieces that are only viewable at the museum. From his early career as a young man through the mid 1960s was on display the morning of my visit, with several of his "Blue" period pieces being shown. There were other non Picasso exhibitions going at the same time. If you are a Picasso fan this museum should be on your list, if you're an art enthusiast this museum should be on your list, if you are a historical architecture buff this museum should be on your list. The museum houses the largest collection of the artists ceramic and pottery works. I saw several ceramic pieces in the museum that I have never seen before. Along with some of his larger paintings. There are docents throughout the building and it encompasses multiple floors. One primary entrance that is controlled, once you purchase your tickets at the ticket office. You may acquire tickets online as well and avoid the line. However, we bought ours at the ticket office arpund 11am on a week day and there was no line or waiting and it only took a minute or two. The bulk of the exhibitions the morning of our visit were not Picasso. 4 Stars a solid art museum, though it does not house just Picassos work which is what I went for. 01071

Great display of one of the greats. Learned so much about Picasso and got to see way more of his art than I even knew existed. Definitely worth the walk through!

Great museum located in the Barcelona Gothic area. It houses Picasso's early and modern work. You can get free tickets a week in advance for slots after 7pm. The building itself is majestic and you can easily spend and hour or two here admiring amazing art. I highly recommend when you're visiting Barcelona.

As an art gallery of arguably one of history's most well known modern artist, it had more than enough copies of his work to digest Picasso's work from freehand sketches to actual paintings and pottery. Picasso is truly a fascinating artist who can take a group of diverse objects and re-present them in a series of disparate paintings. While I am in no way a professional critic of art, not even close; I still enjoyed and appreciated his genius and work. Situated in Barcelona, Spain the museum spreads his work out in a labyrinth of rooms. Audio guide devices and elevators are available. The museum is a must for anyone who holds a fascination for art.

I'm so glad I decided to venture to this side of town. I never would've made it to this corner if not for my visit to this museum. I prefer this type of collection. Small space, but with an amazing collection. My pre booked ticket was for late morning which I find is the sweet spot. Right before lunch is when the crowd gets bigger. Sure enough, there was way more people by the time I exited. There is a lot of stuff to see here. Different forms of art made by Picasso and some by other artists. I personally loved the stuff he made in his later years - the pottery. I walked around the area after exiting and ended up having lunch at Nonnas.

This museum is located n Gothic neighborhood. I didn't reserve the ticket in advance but to my surprise I could get it at the site easily. Well organized exhibit and not too crowded with tourists. Staff is helpful and friendly. You can take pictures.

As I took art all through school and learned a lot about Pablo Picasso and his different stages, I was so excited to see many of his pieces all in one place and see his earlier works of art too. Such a cool place if you appreciate art, this is a must!

    Felicia R.

We booked our ticket when we got to the museum, used our credit card as it did not take cash/efectivo. Pretty comprehensive art collection as the Haus of Picasso. Big tourist spot, with lots of kids with no art exhibit etiquette.. getting shushed by the staff. There are some hidden gem spots in the museum that are less busy. Very good gift shop!
