discovered Music and Arts a few years ago!! I live about 2 miles away, and music stores are a dying breed!! I actually went there today after work! I first walked in years ago to check out what they had regarding drums, cymbals, sticks, and other drum gear! I met Zak, and we bonded right away! We talked about his bass playing, my favorite band Rush, and he showed me around the store! They actually stock one of my favorite and most used brand of drumsticks. (Zildjian Dennis Chambers Artist Model) Small neighborhood music stores teach, instruct, and provide music knowledge to us all! I recently found that the snare drum stand at my church was broken, a day before my Sunday morning Praise and Worship Session! Zak was there, and had exactly what I needed. Not sure where to begin on this. They can do the school and my kid wanted a drum set. It seemed easier to pay the full amount rather than make payments. That was the easy part. But now they are billing me for the same item I paid for. And I have a receipt for payment. Apparently that's not good enough for them. They sent it to a collection agency, who offered to settle the matter for the same money that was already paid. Talk about a way to sour what should be a positive experience for youngsters. May change after going back tomorrow. Yesterday, paid $300 for clarinet repair. Today, my son took it out to discover thit doesn't work. I should have updated my initial one star review months ago. My daughter's violin was out of tune and we weren't sure how to fix it. I took her violin to Music & Arts and they were so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and they were able to get it back in tune using a special device to fix the issue. Thank you so much!!! read more

I went in because my guitar had a spring pop out of its bridge block and needed to get it set up anyway... They were very nice, made some recommendations on string gauges, gave me an estimate, and had my guitar setup in just a few days. Considering it was a Floyd rose, this was great! Guitar Center always had me waiting and their tech was never in. Furthermore, they always made me feel like I was just a number to them. This isn't the case with Music and Arts, their staff was friendly, and brandon is a great tech. Will definitely go to them with all my guitar needs. read more

Their student musical instrument rental program is horrible. We entered into a rent-to-own program for an instrument for my middle school son. When new, the instrument retails for about $1,700 and we made our payments on a monthly basis for years. What they don't tell you is that less than half of each payment goes to the principal, the rest is "rental fees" and insurance. You would literally end up paying more than twice what the instrument costs if you complete the contract. Buyer beware! Buy a used instrument off of ebay and save yourself thousands of hard-earned dollars. read more

I take guitar lessons here and so far I am pleased. I've only been going for 3 months and am satisfied thus far. Staff is AMAZINGLY nice and helpful. My teacher Joe is just a doll and keeps me interested. Definitely a great journey with them. read more

The store itself is knowledgeable. The people selling instruments are very nice and helpful. I won't give one more cent however to this company due to the customer service. While making payments with their credit contract, I experienced multiple issues from payments not being pulled on time to payments being pulled when I didn't expect them. Could not get one ounce of consistency between departments and the last rep I spoke to had such an attitude with me that I will NEVER be back. I'll find another music store to help me here on out. My family has been a customer at Music & Arts for many years, purchasing instruments and a multitude of music from a local store. Usually the local stores are very helpful and friendly. However, my advice is not to order anything online from them. I ordered an Innovative Percussion Intermediate Mallet Pack F2 on September 9. The website claimed it was in stock and would be available at our local store within 3-5 days. My child was supposed to have it for school by September 23; seems like this time frame would work, doesn't it? Well, not at Music & Arts. I called the local store, and the gentleman I spoke with didn't know anything, said he'd call me back (which he did at the end of his shift, but he still couldn't tell me anything about my order). After over an hour, I called the Customer Service number, where I waited over ten minutes on hold. The young lady here said she would check on it for me, after I had to walk her through finding the part number and how to check for availability, and call me within two days. She never called. In the meantime, I found another supplier who had it in stock when they claimed they had it available, and I received it within two days. So today I called back to Music & Arts to cancel my order, talked to "Antynia", who couldn't have cared less about my having a poor customer service experience, and basically hung up on me after repeating that she had cancelled my order. She was very unconcerned and brusque, not a good representative of this company. So, before you place an order online with these people, look around to see if someone else can fulfill your need, probably for less money, and very probably someone who actually cares about keeping a customer. The staff there are very helpful. I have bought instruments and rented them from this location and the Broad St location. They are thorough and flexible. When we were shopping for a flute, they brought out many for my daughter to try. Gave her music and talked with her a little but there was zero pressure. It was an awesome experience. read more
