I just went to the store to get a piano book, it was 12 minutes before 9pm and Travis' very bad mood greeting was: "I'm closing in 10 minutes and I'm all by my self". After one minute searching for the book that they didn't have I called his attention about how that was not a nice way to greet customers, he was clearly upset and replied that he's all by himself and is time to go. I really like John the manager, unfortunately employees don't behive the same way when he's not around, this is not the first time it happens to me with another person of the staff. These people need to remember that customers are the ones who pay their salary. Inventory is not good anymore since Randy left and what I've had to do lately is calling Alvin store and order from there to be sent to Webster store. What a shame. read more

As a newcomer to the area, I thought I'd give Music & Arts a try. I was pleased with the selection of print music available and the store is very tidy. At least one employee knew what he was talking about, but it would have been nice if the young lady Ariel would have shut up. To ramble incessantly within earshot of customers, about matters that clearly aren't work-related, was distracting. I was helped by an older gentleman who was very accommodating & knowledgeable, I believe it was Randy, but the younger employee really should be more professional. I went here with my son on a quiet Sunday afternoon to look for music books for him to learn some easy popular piano songs and also to see if I could find some stuff for myself. Besides us there was another family in the store, but two clerks available to help customers. I basically stood like an idiot by the check out for maybe 15 minutes before someone came to check me out and when I asked questions about item, they were very blunt and not very helpful. I wont be coming back here ever again. read more

We bought a Yamaha tenor saxophone from this store 11 months ago on an 18month zero interest rate. My son is very satisfied with the instrument. Mouths pieces, reeds, even periodic tuning and repairs of the instrument is done here. The location is very close to the Baybrook Mall. read more

Most times when I come in here whether it's to service one of my kids' instruments or to buy accessories, the store clerk is helpful, but pretty cold and non-enthusiastic, same attitude on the phone when I call with a question. All that aside, though, I recently had to purchase a hard cello case for my son through their website and have it shipped to the store free (which was super convenient). When I came to pick it up, Mike was very helpful. He offered to take it out of the box so it would fit in my car and then carried it out to my car for me. Given my aforementioned experiences with their customer service, I found this a pleasant surprise and worth making a review. So thanks! read more

We went to get a cello a string. The chubby girl behind the counter was very grumpy. She sold my daughter a c string saying it was an "a". When I brought it back in she displayed much eye rolling. We got the right string in the end but I will not be buying anything there in the future unless there is better attitude. read more

I'm a band parent of two HS juniors. My daughters have been in band since 6th grade, done fine, and each have private tutors who say they're progressing just fine. Yet every time I go to this place for a repair for one of the instruments either the guy who I think is the manager, or one of the employees gives me a VERY pushy lecture about how I just NEED to upgrade the instruments. They say that the band directors in HS "require" students to have upgraded instruments and the manager has repeatedly said he "doesn't understand how they can possibly be learning on these instruments." He then tells me that they're having a sale and that payments "are no problem" because they've got a payment plan and it's "very easy" and I really need to do this. WELL. First, no band director in 51/2 years has ever said a word to my daughters regarding their instruments, much less "required" an upgrade, so that's just total BS. Second, although I must have had this conversation five or six times over the years, they still come at me with this extremely pushy lecture about how I just NEED to buy better instruments (they're over $2000 each for what my kids would need.) And how dare he say what is "easy" for me financially? I cannot believe how nervy this is. Today, I said this YET AGAIN to the young man who was trying to lecture me about band directors' " requirements" and I said that no band director had EVER commented on my daughters' instruments and they were doing great. And this is what really set me off: He asked me what school they went to and I told him and that it was an EXCELLENT program with EXCELLENT teachers. And he rolled his eyes and pulled a face! Like, "Oh, THAT crappy school! No wonder!" It's a GREAT program and I really resented his attitude, I resent how pushy they are about this each and every time I go there and it's NOT TRUE that band directors "require" upgraded instruments. And I would NEVER go there except that they do a decent job with repair and there's no place else to take instruments for repair. If you happen to have upgraded your child's instrument they probably will not hassle you. But don't let them push you into a multi-thousand dollar purchase you DO NOT NEED TO MAKE because your band teacher supposedly requires it, because it's NOT TRUE. So just beware and if you have a question about your child's instrument ask the DIRECTOR not this place! They'll get right in your pocket. read more

The Sales consultants at this location are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They have decades of individual experience in their fields. Anyone who has experienced less than professional service, probably came in with a chip on their shoulder & an arrogance of self-centeredness. How these guys are able to put up with the high maintenance, whiny people that come in, is beyond me. Learn how to treat people in retail and you might be surprised at the reciprocity you receive. read more
