While visiting the social club I admired the architectural elements that depict a traditional chalet style (architectural elements and decor). The event was delightful. Food, folks, and live music. At the entrance of the building guests were given an opportunity to purchase merchandise or buy tickets that would be exchanged for food and beverages. Rows of tables and chairs were prepared for guests in the main area. There is a bar, dance floor, stage, public restrooms, and kitchen. The musician wore authentic lederhosen, sang, and played an electric accordian. A lady stopped by our table to greet us, and she explained some of the history of the location. She mentioned that the building is over 50 years old and has been the German American social club for over 30 years. The event was delightful.

I see people complaining in the reviews regarding the downtown parking prices and some of the hotel garages just need your ticket validated inside the hotel before you leave-free parking peeps. I still am not sure how they decide which Saturday they are going to do this event. I've been the day after First Friday and I've been in the middle of the month. Part of the reason this gets 5 stars from me is that I live at The Ogden, so I literally walk down stairs from my place and BAM! Food Truck heaven. plus I like the addition of the local vendors selling their hand crafted wares. I'm not gonna buy most of it because its just not my style, but I'm all about small local vendors getting their shot. There's always a few regulars and a few change-ups each month. You can almost always count on Slidin Thru and Grouchy John's but the rest vary from month to month. And it's always a good mix of people in attendance. It's an all ages event so it usually draws that same crowd you see at First Friday, & it's FREE to get in so if you are in the area there is definitely no good reason to not check it out. My one main complaint is that there's around 4 or 5 tables total for the event. Therefore, there is always that awkward time after buying the food of walking around trying to find some place to post up and eat. For an event with as many attendees as this tends to get, and as much extra room as they have in the parking lot, whoever is in charge needs to get on this. It's a tiny little omission that would make a huge difference in the quality of the event.

I didn't know that a place named Swan Dive existed in the Arts District. I went there to a show…read morelast night. There are two entrances--one for Swan Dive and one for Ugly Duckling at Swan Dive. The Ugly Duckling is a karaoke theatre. The Swan Dive is more for established bands and singing groups. There is a nice bar and lounge between the two sides. We waited there foir the house to open for the show, one of the Fallout Fringe Festival productions--to open. The room is fairly large. Seating is on folding chairs facing the stage. This is not a fancy room. The acoustics were fine and this set of performing theatre is a great additon to the Arts District. There is a large pay parking lot nearby, so you won't be walking a long distance and it's before the damn construction on Main and Charleston. It was a great show with freinds of mine doing songs from Off-Off Broadway shows for the most part. I told Siri to play Meadowlark on the way home and I relived part of the show. I am so pleased this performance space i available!

The menu listed an option of cornbread and upon asking I was told they had them but it costs an extra two dollars (even though it is listed as an option in lieu of chips and does not state an additional cost). Despite the awkward interaction I took my order to a picnic table and ate the meal. The brisket sliders were good. The beans were okay. The potato salad was good but not a recipe I favor (I'm not a fan of shredded cheese in potato salad). Overall the experience of ordering was frustrating and awkward, and I don't understand the confusion when I was asked if I wanted the chopped brisket OR sliders, ordered the chopped brisket but was given sliders anyway. Oh well, I had a 50/50 chance of the order being accurate and the odds were not in my favor.

Then, five minutes after that, I saw yet another shrimp cocktail delivered to a different table. At that point in time, I went to the bar to ask the bartender "who is in charge". They asked me what the issue was, I told them that I had ordered shrimp cocktail and the server informed me that there possibly was no more shrimp cocktails. Then approximately 10 minutes after my food was delivered and then another five minutes after that, I saw two shrimp cocktails being delivered to other guests. They bartender tried to sell me on the fiction that those orders came in ahead of mine, yet they also said that the orders were filled as they come in. I do not understand how this could happen. But who knows. Then, approximately 10 minutes later, the server comes up to my table with - guess what? A shrimp cocktail. I stated to the server, I was informed that you had no more shrimp cocktails where did this one come from? Although he did not tell me where the shrimp cocktail came from, he told me that the shrimp cocktail was on the house. Again, as I stated earlier, the food has always been tasty. I do not blame the server as he only goes by what he is told. But the fact that he was told there was no more shrimp cocktails, and then to suddenly appear with another one, to lie to a customer is not acceptable. Therefore, no matter who is performing, I have no plans to return to a venue where they are dishonest with customers. Just to conclude, I paid my bill, tipped my server in cash, and left the shrimp cocktail on the table untouched.
