I was really hesitant to try to find a voice teacher on the Internet for my 17 year-old daughter. Being a singer and a musician myself - I realized that I would be very picky about a teacher. But when I called Tracy at 'Music To Your Home' she was incredibly thorough - asking me exactly what type of music my daughter wanted to sing, was there a specific event or performance she was working on, what skill level was she currently at, and what her (and my) expectations were of working with a teacher. I was really impressed. Then, when Tracy said: "I'll match your daughter up with a teacher and the first lesson is free - if you don't think the quality is there, or the teacher is a match - then it won't cost you a thing" - we had nothing to lose and everything to gain. A week later the first class happened - and it was good. But after sleeping on it my daughter reluctantly said she didn't think that she and that the teacher were really totally in sync -- or the best match. So I called Tracy back and told her exactly that. Her answer was: "No problem - are you willing to let me try one more teacher - that I think will be an even better match? Some time just freed up on her schedule - and I think she would be really perfect for your daughter. And if it's not a match then again - I'm not going to charge you for it". A week later that second class happened - and it was great! Rebecca was incredible. The confidence my daughter gained from working with her for eight weeks was amazing. And the change in musicality and tone in her voice after such a short period of time was remarkable. So the musical finally opened, my daughter sounded the best I have ever heard her sing, she got amazing feedback - far beyond what she'd experienced in the past, and all I can say to summarize is that the entire experience was fantastic. Especially in these times when so few people seem to do things "professionally" -- or as well as you strive to do the things you do yourself. Working with Tracy and Rebecca was an absolute pleasure. My son is a 'product' of Music To Your Home. He is now in his senior year as a Jazz Piano Performance major at SUNY Purchase. He decided to get into music when he was in his 2nd year of high school but he only had 1 year of classical piano training when he was 8 years old. I thought it would be an impossible feat for him to make it through auditions, but through his hard work and the superior training from his MTYH teacher plus a few coaches, he successfully passed 2 out of 3 auditions - Purchase and the New School of Contemporary Music. As a professional working in Manhattan who grew up playing piano, I could not have imagined a more positive experience. Our teacher (Rebecca) is great with our 3 year-old daughter, and is working with her both learning to play the piano and on the basics of music theory. She is warm and friendly (and consistently on time) and the combination of working really well with our daughter (who looks forward to the lessons each week) along with the convenience of coming home from day care and having the lesson at home makes things fit perfectly into our hectic lives.
