And really, not without reason…read more My stepfather's business always got sheet music and books from axelrod's, but eventually the owner (Jackie, I believe) became unreliable and over priced, he really had no choice but to order online to ensure he had legal copies of music for students in a timely manner. THe final straw he had with axelrods is that I was looking for an instrument, the owner took us into a freezing cold back room filled with violins and other string instruments....now to me having been a band geek, you are not supposed to subject instruments to overly hot or cold conditions as they can crack or warp. To boot she was asking three times was Robert's music quoted me for a few year old instrument for one made during the reagan administration.

The old location was in an ancient building with 900 year old creaky wood floors and lots of charm. Inside were racks and racks full of music for every instrument and every genre. Probably every kid in the state that was in High school band knows Axelrod. The new store located out in the sticks is bigger, has less charm, but still has the biggest collection of sheet music I've ever seen. Less instruments before, but they're doing everything they can to survive in an internet shopping world, where kids play soccer instead of the saxamaphone. Well hear this sports fans- Charlie Parker, Hendrix, and Jelly Roll Morton had a LOT more fun than Pele, Babe Ruth, or Heisman. They can special order many things, if not everything.

Despite its proximity to me, I had never really shopped at TJ's. I don't know why, maybe the long…read moretime thought that it was simply a drum shop... I don't know! After hearing of their good name in amp repairs, I took mine in to get fixed. After getting it back, the amp started acting up during the first show,l with the same problems as before, only worse. I reached out to the TJ's team who vowed to make it right. They took another look at it and had some ideas, but also felt like I may be throwing more money at it to still have problems we determined a new amp would probably be the best solution. They were kind enough to credit me the amount paid for the unsuccessful repairs, even though hey spent time and money to do the work, and got me equipped with an amp I absolutely love. Nobody is perfect, and my amp wouldn't have been in such bad shape had I taken better care of it. No, the repairs weren't successful but he only thing I really lost was one show without an amp, going direct, because of an unexpected fault. They went above and beyond to make up for that and I leave there better off. I'll most definitely be sending my business there way going forward.

Everyone there is friendly - Tom becomes good friends with his customers, and has a strong base of regulars because they've learned that Oasis is the best place to shop for music instruments. The selection is small, but the prices are always competitive, and Tom is the most honest business person in the state. I can't recommend drum lessons from Oasis highly enough - he is great with kids, and adult, and has a true love of music. I all but gave up on the thing until my friends told me about Cranky's. For a very reasonable fee, Greg worked on the frets, tremolo, tuning heads, saddles, and gave it a thorough cleaning. I walked in to buy some strings while their open mic was going on a year ago and tried it myself... I've been coming every week since. It's allowed me to live out my rock star fantasy in front of the most supportive and loving crowd ever. I've met so many friends here, it's more than just an open mic and a music store, it's a community and a family. I've played drums, bass, and guitar here with so many different local musicians in so many genres, it has helped me to grow and develop my skills for each instrument. It has, without exaggeration, changed my life. If open mics aren't your thing and you just want a place to buy an instrument, it's great for that too. Unlike bigger chains like Guitar Center where they just want your money and kick you out, you can have a long conversation with the people working here to make sure you're purchasing the instrument right for you.
