The price was reasonable and less than an instrument of similar quatlity in the Boston area. I have taken the instrument back a few times for some minor adjustments; I always learn something from Mike about the cello and how to better take care of it. The service is outstanding. He has a unique inventory of violins and cellos and it is more likely you will get the instrument that is best for you. He has a good selection of bows; I upgraded to a new wooden bow a few months ago and love the sound it produces Mike's shop is cool to visit, even if you are just looking. It is a 90 minute drive each way for me, but it is definitely worth the trip. I highly reccomment Michael Lyons Violins.

Despite its proximity to me, I had never really shopped at TJ's. I don't know why, maybe the long…read moretime thought that it was simply a drum shop... I don't know! After hearing of their good name in amp repairs, I took mine in to get fixed. After getting it back, the amp started acting up during the first show,l with the same problems as before, only worse. I reached out to the TJ's team who vowed to make it right. They took another look at it and had some ideas, but also felt like I may be throwing more money at it to still have problems we determined a new amp would probably be the best solution. They were kind enough to credit me the amount paid for the unsuccessful repairs, even though hey spent time and money to do the work, and got me equipped with an amp I absolutely love. Nobody is perfect, and my amp wouldn't have been in such bad shape had I taken better care of it. No, the repairs weren't successful but he only thing I really lost was one show without an amp, going direct, because of an unexpected fault. They went above and beyond to make up for that and I leave there better off. I'll most definitely be sending my business there way going forward.

It's really really cheap, only $10/hour when you just play the drums. They have fans and AC for when you get hot and a good PA system so you can play along with a CD or your iPod. The staff is very friendly and helpful, except for the oldest guy. He could be nicer; he makes you feel uncomfortable if you need his help with something. But the rest of the staff is awesome.

It turned out to be the "new" owner, Larry. (New because he became the owner 10 years ago, and Luca Music has been around since I used to shop at Almacs... ) The building is the exactly the same as it was in the 80s and it's well kept, so for me it's like stepping back in time when I took music lessons here. Pretty fantastic to have something so well preserved for the next generation. I told Larry what I was looking for. He did a great job showing me my options and while he showed the the nicest version of what I was looking for, he in no way pressured me to spend extra. He got me just what I wanted and even made me a nice bundle offer that I am confident got me the best deal around. He even threw in extra after the sale. We did business and then he helped carry my purchase to the car. So while we tend to forget the Small Business so often in lieu of box stores and online shipping, there's something about the time and care and appreciation I felt today at Luca Music.
