I made an appointment over a month ago, following all the procedures to do so no matter how painstaking. I did my research to make sure i had everything i needed. I waited in line for 45 minutes the day of my appointment just for the rude woman behind the desk to tell me they updated the system and that my appointment was not correct for what i needed to do. This is the least painful MVA you are going to find in the area. Trust me, I've been to all of them. After blowing 3 consecutive days waiting unsuccessfully to get my car registered at the Gaithersburg MVA, I decided to drive 30 minutes up the road to Frederick. This one is far less busy than any others in the area - I was called in about 10 minutes. The people were friendly (!) and got me through the process even though my materials were kind of disorganized. Overall, it was about an hour from start to finish, plus the (fairly pleasant) 30 minute drive each way, which was far less painful than it could have been. read more

Took my daughter in for the driving skills test. The women assigned for the test was rude and condescending and immediately took what is already a stressful situation up multiple notches. The tester laughing at my daughter was the final humiliation. Should also add that they make you schedule the appointment and then aren't ready. We arrived early to ensure we wouldn't be late and they proceeded to keep up waiting for over an hour past our appointment time. read more

My experience with this particular MVA is either very good or very bad. Almost all the employees there give their customers looks of disapproval and do not care to take time to hear you out. Horrible service! I recommend go elsewhere. Came to this place with my boyfriend for his drivers test not only were all the employees rude as hell but we also waited so long. I sat in the backseat with my newborn baby because he was crying alot and the rude ass examiner Ken said " that baby can be alone in the back seat while you come around the building" talk about rude. He wasnt even the one examining my boyfriend. This man was mean to every person who he examined but had casual conversations with all the other rude ass employees who wont even make eye contact with you. read more

I had a great experience here. Regardless of which location you go to, going in with a smile and good attitude is going to help! I went to the information booth, was given a number and told which side to sit on. Waited about 20 mins, was called to a station and in another 20 mins, I had my MD license. Joked and laughed with the gentleman helping me. Place is clean, organized and friendly. If I need to go back to the MVA, this will be the location I plan on returning to! read more

No one will ever be excited by the DMV. But if you have to go, this place does a great job. Moved from Virginia to MD, and got my new license in 15 minutes. Took an hour and a half when I did this in Gaithersburg. read more

I don't usually offer such critique but from under what rock did they find the staff? I was here in August to inquire about a title that never arrived. After speaking with 2 people, I was informed that it was sent 3 out weeks prior and that I should give it more time. I gave them 4 weeks - nothing arrived. I arrive today and, using crayons, paint a picture of my issue to the check in staff. I am given a form to fill out and a number. When my number is called, the person tells me to go to the kiosk and pay $20 for the title that never arrived. I ask why I have to pay and she states because the original has already been sent and it doesn't matter that I never received it. Having no original title number, I have to ask the staff member who then expresses disdain with the check in desk for not providing it. What a cluster f*ck of customer service. It's not even the $20 that I shouldn't have had to pay but the incompetence that led me to have to deal with theses knuckle draggers twice! I should have kept their cheap pen as compensation! read more

I would have given this a 5 star rating because the service is fast, MOST of the employees are very friendly and helpful, and it's definitely a lot more organized and way less packed than the MVA in Gaithersburg. However, there is one gentleman, who, I'd refer to as a royal a**hole. Clearly he hates his job and he doesn't know how to deal with the general public. Maybe he's just upset because he's way overweight and going bald. He was beyond rude and had an attitude on him the entire time. He should either quit his job or learn not to be nice to people. read more

The customer service at this place sucks. I tried to take my drivers test and we didn't know we needed car insurance card with us so we tried to get it over the phone. It didn't work and they wouldn't let us fax it for no reason. My appointment was at 10:15 and they said we had until 10:30 to get the card and the lady took 10 minutes of that time talking to someone leaving us not even 5 mom to get the insurance. She was insanely rude and everyone else there was getting so fed up with them. She wouldn't even let me reschedule my test. read more

Definitely agree with previous users that this is the least painful MVA around but that's not really saying much. They need more people with a sense of urgency running the information desk since they basically force you to go there first whether you know what you need to do or not. I literally watched employees carry on random conversations and make people wait as they leisurely strolled from one side of building to the other. And to get paid for that level of customer service? In my next life I'm getting a job here. read more

I would give this 0 stars if I could. I went in there to get my horizontal license and they told me it would be 7-10 days in the mail. I asked about expedited shipping and they told me it was an option I must have missed on the kiask. I told them I never saw it or I would have paid it. The man at the counter said "well it's $15" as if I can't afford $15. After he told me that, I told him I would pay it and he said I couldn't because it's already eneterrd in the system. He then shoved me off to an older blonde woman named Anne who was extremely rude. I asked her questions and she was getting attitude with me and belittling me. She then told me to go away and get out her sight. I went to talk to a younger Spanish woman about getting a new picture and she looked at me as if she didn't understand what I was saying and told me I look no different than I use to and laughed. What a horrible experience! Filled in the on line application for appointment 2 months ahead of time. Was supposed to get a reminder email 1 week before and then another 1 day before. It's ok that they did not send either of these, except that in hind site, I wonder if that's where the instructions might have been. When we arrived for our 1045 appt, we did notice the sign that said DO NOT ENTER without application, line is for road tests only. Well we had done the application on line, right? That's why we have a 1045 appt. To be sure, my husband jumps out of the car to confirm, and the driving instructor, who must hate her job, or people, or both, replied "Just get in line, its first come first serve". Ok. AN HOUR LATER, woman asks for our #. What #? She says "you didn't check in before getting in line???" Umm, how were we supposed to know that we were supposed to do that?? "There are signs!" she says.. Signs DO NOT SAY MUST ENTER BUILDING 1st! So, ok, there's plenty of time, we are still 3rd in line, child can run in with husband and check in while I wait with car. And after all, we have an appointment-that we scheduled 2 months ago... "NO! You are an hour late-its too late for you to check in! We already marked you as a no show, we will not test you today!" We are not late, we have been sitting in front of you for the last hour..and had YOU BEEN ON TIME AND ASKED US AT 1045 WHEN WE GOT HERE, we would not be having this conversation AN HOUR LATE!!! It's really sad and no wonder what so ever why MVA employees have reputations as lazy sloths! You totally earned that shit! Congratulations Frederick employees, you have found the perfect positions to waste away the rest of your sloth lives and have introduced MVA employees as being the butt of jokes to our next generation..but you win, instead of apologizing for running late, you get to leave on time today because you crushed the young girl who was sitting in line nervous and excited to take her drivers test today.
