My children are seeing two speech therapist and so far I've been remarkably pleased with both of their therapists. Everyone is very polite and upbeat. It's a very positive atmosphere. I feel like we get very personalized care. I can also see this occurring with other families as the therapists speak to the parents after the therapy sessions. Parents are welcome to attend sessions as well. They are very open to working with parents in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the children. My kids really enjoy coming. It's never a fight when we have to come to speech therapy. And the therapists always come out to update me on their progress. The facility itself is extremely clean yet simple. There isn't a lot of high-end decorating in the waiting room. But you must understand that this is a place for children. Lots of children. I feel the decor is appropriate for its intended use. We've been coming here for months and I would highly recommend Sensational Kids to other parents who have children in need speech, physical or occupational therapy.

My relationship with SK has soured. In December Sooner care started kicking back my daughter's…read moreclaims because the dr. who had written her referral for services had lost privileges to do so. Sooner Care did not contact me in any way... neither did Sensational Kids. The first week of December Sensational Kids admit to being aware of the claims being denied. They did not reach out to me, or send me a bill for two months. I still have never seen an actual bill, but am being asked to pony up over $900 that wasn't covered. Had SK informed me right away and given me the opportunity to pause services while i remedied the situation, no harm no foul, I could have paid for the one or two that slipped through and moved on, but for them to wait two months and then say "well, unfortunately i can't call every account we have" or something to that effect when I balked at the situation, is completely unconscionable. My daughter is not allowed to come back to thereapy until I pay the bill, even though we now have an appropriate (at least I hope, how am I to truly know if no one communicates with me) referral/scrip... I'm so dissapointed in the attitued of Sensational Kids.

The most unprofessional medical clinic I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. As an RN…read moremyself I am disgusted on a personal AND professional level. I fell upon entering the facility because of broken tiles catching the heal of my sandal and the door (facing north) slamming due to the wind and trapping my left foot. Fast forward to my appointment where the medical assistant didn't know how to spell any of my medications (I'm only on 3 and they are VERY common) and felt it necessary to violate HIPAA and tell me about the child in the next room "being dramatic about their ear infection" (I'll not give further details, but if you are reading this and had an appointment for your kiddo on December 2nd, just know the staff hates you and your child and has zero respect for privacy) and she also let me know how terrible she felt the provider that was working that day was. After visiting with the PA and requesting refills of my thyroid medications, she wanted to draw blood DESPITE me offering results from less than 3 weeks prior. She spoke over me and did not listen to my recent liver enzyme history which will come into play later. The MA came back into the room and could not successfully complete the blood draw - side note, I have HUGE easy, veins and have allowed many students to practice on me to build their confidence. A different MA was sent in who had no trouble. I was told I would receive a call when the results were back (these labs are typically ready overnight). I left and went home and awaited a call back. It bears noting NO ONE evaluated me for injury after my fall, nor was an incident report filed. Fast forward 2 weeks and I had still not been contacted so I reached out to ask 1. If the tiles had been replaced so that no one else would fall and 2. Why my labs were still not reviewed/refills called in. After several hours a different provider/building owner stated she didn't know anything about the tiles and that my labs were delayed because my liver enzymes were elevated and they needed additional tests. So instead of listening to me during my appointment and realizing I had already had those liver tests completed as well as an ultrasound, they wasted time and Healthcare dollars on redundant testing and did not advise ME the patient in a timely manner of what they assumed to be unknown critical values?!? That is outrageous and quite frankly borders on malpractice and insurance fraud. I reported them to my insurance company as well another entity for the safety and HIPAA violations which they denied. In fact, they called me a liar regarding the broken tile so I will be attaching photographic proof along with my review.

The boy and I have been thinking a lot about his mother, a sweet 68-year-old woman who is widowed. We were hoping to find her a warm, supportive community of friends and activity partners and I found the Edmond Senior Citizens Center via their website: http://edmondok.com/index.aspx?NID=411 The Senior Citizens Center is open M-F, 8am-4pm. It is available for Edmond residents 55+ years of age and offers senior citizens free transportation to the center within a 6-mile radius. They offer fun free classes and adult education programs for seniors including landscaping and genealogy, bingo, free fitness classes including tai chi, yoga, Jazzercise Lite, day trip opportunities including trips to the circus, and early risers exercise with weights and stretch bands for stretch training. No membership fee to participate! A $12 donation per year is suggested to help cover operating costs which is more than reasonable. One hot meal is available at the Senior Citizens Center every day for only $2.50! Free tours are available daily. I think it's cool that there's a wonderful resource like this available for seniors in the area... If I'm still in Edmond when I'm a senior, you'll find me hanging out here enjoying my $2.50 lunch, doing yoga and shouting "BINGO!!!"
