I stopped at My Bar after a long morning of traveling and then exploring the Colosseum. I didn't have much time in Rome so I wanted to grab something quick and inexpensive to keep it moving. I ordered a margherita pizza and pasta bolognese...I was surprised to see the pizza came out without any basil...I'd been in Italy for a couple weeks at that point and eaten many margherita pizzas- they need basil. I asked that basil be added to my pizza but I personally did not enjoy the overall flavor, which was disappointing. The pasta bolognese was hearty but also not my favorite in terms of flavor. The sweet server noticed and brought over some parmesan which did help a lot. My favorite thing about my experience here was that I was seated outside and had a decent view of the colosseum. Although, I was also being haggled quite a bit to buy things from random street salesmen as I sat and ate my meal. I actually bought a portable phone charger which came in handy. Overall, my bar is more of a place for chilling with drinks but I wouldn't recommend the margherita pizza or pasta bolognese. read more

Small spot near the Colosseum that I understand is a gay bar but during the day it was just a regular caffe' to me. Service was fine (we just had a drink each) to get off our feet and rehydrate. Great views and prices felt appropriate for the ability so sit an enjoy a great view while people watching. I would not make this a must stop for a meal or drink but if you are nearby and want a snack and a break this is as good a place as any. read more

hands down, the worst food we had in italy, you will be paying this tourist trap for its proximity to the colosseum. we had the veal with roasted potatoes and margherita pizza. the veal was ok but the potatoes was obviously old and cold. for the marggherita pizza, we thought it was digiorno. it is sad that this is the one and only time we were disappointedwith the meal. and their price was conparable to the restaurants around the area. read more

Fun spot on the gay strip by the Colosseum. The staff is friendly and they have a huge cocktail menu. The music is also a lot of fun. We only came for a drink in the early afternoon to cool off. I am really curious what this place is like at night. read more

Stopped in for drinks which turned into a small lunch. Ordered a pinky colada which was a great drink. My second drink was okay a strawberry mule. You literally have 1,000 choices the drink menu is endless. For lunch I ordered lasagna it was okay noodles were a little mushy and sauce was slightly bland. Could have been better but it was bar food so I wasn't expecting any type of food at all. My friends ordered hamburgers and chicken burgers which was just a frozen chicken patty wouldn't recommend anyone getting that. But for drinks,good music and service I would go again. read more

Situated next to the colosseum, this restaurant has a fantastic view and location on what is known as gay street. We had a late lunch here and ordered the prosciutto pizza but while I was expecting cured ham, we got four slabs of Oscar Mayer-esque raw ham. Maybe it was my misunderstanding but I was a bit disappointed. Also it took my asking three times to get the check before I finally just gave them the correct amount (they could not get it straight) and left. Considering this was my first meal in Rome, I chalked it up to my lack of knowledge and just enjoyed the scenery. While I still think the view was fantastic, you could definitely find a better place. read more

Literally the WORST experience I've ever had at a gay bar. I asked the waiter if I could change my drink and specifically if I'd still be charged for both. He says yes and takes my FULL DRINK AWAY. Bill comes and both were on there. I asked nicely about the 2 charges and both the waiter and manager were extremely rude, raised their voices and told me it was my error! If I'm paying for both drinks I would have drank it. I reluctantly pay and they threw my change at me. Also the pizza was gross - dripping with grease and shitty ham slices instead of prosciutto as stated on the menu. This place sucks and the attitude of the staff sucks more. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Apparently those 7 euros were more important than providing a good customer experience. Walking back to our apartment and saw the gay flag up. I thought great... Get to see a great city and it's men all with a backdrop of the colosseum. Good drinks (coffee, wine and vodka), limited on space but you can sit outside and with shops at your doorstep you're not short of anything. Bar men are good, not very attentive but expected. Pay for your drinks at the till first, take the ticket and order your drink from the bar man. Toilets queues were nearly outside, I managed to run back to my apartment but felt sorry for people who had to wait 15mins. A dance floor so big that you would not even be able to swing a cat in, so you'll have to improvise. All in all good crowd and no fuss, no thrills place to chill out. read more

Location is everything! I discovered this gem by accident! It's right next door to my hotel! Now only are the staff friendly but also accommodating! I have had cocktails here several times but I am writing regarding my meals! I had the seafood spaghetti several times and I wish to pay my compliments to the chef - Kabir! If I could give the food at this place negative stars, I would. Seriously, a review that would take away stars from previous reviews, because clearly they don't know what Italian food is. They tried to serve microwaved frozen cannelloni spruced up by putting a fresh basil leaf on it. Seriously the kind of stuff I'd eat in college after I had run out of money! My friends and I were looking for a convenient place to eat and grab drinks after visiting the colosseum, so we were happy to have stumbled upon this place. Finally a restaurant that will sell you espresso at the bar. It is required by law for the bars to sell you an espresso for 1 euro, if you stand. But the ones around the tourist traps try to bully you into sitting and charge you double then. read more

Decent place for refreshments right next to Colosseum! Our feet were tired and we were hungry! We ordered a prosciutto mushroom pizza and a caprese salad. Pizza was just ok. It was more like the prepackaged American ham. But the caprese salad had the best presentation of all restaurants we've been to! The beer was great!! My first experience at an Italian meal! I walked quite out of my way 15 minutes to support this gay establishment as I researched before I arrived- the waiter was extremely rude (after waiting patiently for quite awhile) as I was not fluent in Italian he said this is not America or England. I got up and ate at Coming Out which is next door. I truly want to practice my Italian and emerge myself in the culture but I have no desire to pay good money to be treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant. I got up and left and I'm so glad I did. They were so much nicer next door they let me practice my Italian without feeling attacked and spoke English and French without anger. I would not ever go to this establishment again. read more

Coming from working industry as well as customer service. My girlfriend and I just ordered two beers and it was as if the server was mad about it. He took forever to get is our check and stood there and started dancing with some boys as if he completely disregarded our request. He couldn't be bothered. We had to literally pull out our wallet and flaunt the cash/card for him to bring us our check. Definitely over priced for two small beers. This place definitely did not feel gay friendly unless you were a male. It's unfortunate because he continued to ignore us that we had to walk in to the bar from the outside. The inside serivice was nice in comparison. While we were walking out, I said thank you to the waiter and he just rolled his eyes. This bar seriously gives gay men a bad rep and he falls into that stereotype. I would highly recommend avoiding this place and to go somewhere else. read more
