When I saw The Bulldog Cafe on Google Maps, I knew I had to go there! They are a food truck and their specialty is waffles shaped like bulldog faces. How cute is that?!? My first visit was just with my mom to check it out. Waffles are $5.99 each, but if you buy 4 it's $22.99. We got 4. I wanted the pepperoni pizza waffle, but they were out of pepperoni, so I got a cheese pizza waffle and an apple cinnamon waffle. My mom decided to get the same, lol. The lady working there, I suspect is the owner, and she was lovely. She brought out a box filled with activities to entertain us while we waited, lol. There was a dog-themed card game, some crayons, colouring books and more, lol. We just walked around, but these activities would be great for kids! They have a colourful picnic table and a smaller kids' picnic table next to the food truck. They also have some bulldog shaped planters around the food truck. The decor is adorable! The waffles themselves were good. We really enjoyed the apple cinnamon ones. They had plenty of apple chunks as the filling and was topped with cinnamon sugar. The cheese pizza one was good, but too light on the cheese. The waffles had a nice texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. She gave us a loyalty card where you buy 8 you get the 9th one free. We were halfway to getting a free one :) I knew my little nieces would love this place, so on my second visit, I brought them with my mom and I. They both love Nutella, so they wanted the Nutella waffle and got one each. My younger niece only wanted one waffle, but my older niece wanted 2, so she also got an apple cinnamon one. We were going to get the cheesecake waffle for my mom and I but they ran out, so we got a Tiramisu waffle instead. And with the purchase of those 4, we filled up our loyalty card, so for my free one, I got the pepperoni pizza waffle that I wasn't able to get on my first visit. The girls loved their Nutella waffles. They were filled with so much Nutella. The Tiramisu waffle had a strong Tiramisu flavour and we enjoyed it. I was hoping the pepperoni pizza waffle would have more cheese this time, but again it had very little cheese :( It was mostly just pepperoni and tomato sauce. I should have tried another flavour, lol. My nieces loved the activity box and they enjoyed our little outing. I would definitely recommend this place for kids. The food truck is in the parking lot where Apple Saddlery is. There are 2 other food trucks in the same parking lot. Lots of free parking.

the food was incredible and the drinks we're really good thank you the place alone is beutifullread more

For Ottawa I will give it 4 stars, but in Toronto (my hometown) it would be 3 stars, since it's smaller than bubble waffles in Toronto and it's more cake-like than fluffy waffle-like. I got 4 bubble waffles to share with my parents: 2 sweet and 2 savoury. I got the original batter for all 4 ($4.99 each) but they also have chocolate or matcha batter ($5.49). I got taro filling for one (additional $1), red bean filling for one (additional $1), seaweed and pork floss for one (additional $1.50) and for the last one I got ham and cheese (additional $1.50 for the ham and another additional $1.50 for the cheese). If you buy 2 or more, you get a 10% discount, which I did. My receipt said Oreo instead of Red Bean, but they are the same price, so no big deal, and I received red bean like I ordered. The waffle itself, like I mentioned earlier was more cakey and less waffle-y, lol. Also not all bubbles had fillings. The taro one was most generous with the fillings. And I did not feel like an extra $3 was worth it for the ham and cheese as there was very little filling. There was also very little filling for the seaweed and pork floss one. The waffles are made to order, so they are fresh and hot when you get them. Staff were friendly. It's kind of slim pickings for bubble waffles in Ottawa, and this place has free parking, so it satisfies my bubble waffle cravings and it's convenient. So I am rating accordingly ;)

This food truck recently set up shop in my neighbourhood (summer of 2024). I first saw it while driving to work and made a mental note to check it out. They don't have their own website and are exclusively on Instagram and Facebook. Initially they weren't even on Google Maps, but now they are. But really, they had me at crepes and Filipino-inspired sealed the deal, lol. I love creative fusion cuisine! The Husbster and I walked over on a Sunday afternoon and the owner (I think she was the owner) was all smiles and very welcoming. I got the Walker Crepe ($16) which was pulled chicken, rutabaga, pickles and a spinach/arugula mix. It usually comes with cilantro, but my husband hates cilantro, so I asked to have it omitted, so he could try some (even though he wasn't in the mood for crepes and we knew I would be the one eating most of it, lol). I also got the Gulaman Cooler ($4.50) which is a drink made of brown sugar syrup and banana extract with jellies. I love jellies, so I asked for extra and got lots of jellies ;) I was also pleasantly surprised that the crepe came with a small quinoa salad. The crepe was delicious. The pulled chicken was dark meat and so moist, tender and flavourful. The shredded rutabaga added a nice texture, as did the pickles and leafy greens. It was a little wet towards the bottom though with liquid pooling and it eventually leaked out the bottom of the paper cone holding the crepe. Luckily I was given lots of napkins, lol. The crepe was crispy around the edges and soft with a nice amount of chew on the inside. A very tasty crepe. The quinoa salad was ok, but nothing too remarkable. It had a lot of cilantro in it, to my husband's chagrin, haha. I loved the Gulaman Cooler, especially with all the jelly I was given ;) It was sweet and refreshing on a hot summer's day. The jellies were cut very small, so they fit in the narrow straw. I had a lovely chat with the lady who I believe is the owner while she prepared my items. She was very friendly. There are picnic tables in front of the food truck for you to eat at. And since the food truck is parked in an empty parking lot, there is parking available if you drive there. Looking forward to trying their other items, like maybe their sweet crepes :) (100)
