Just before a recent hurricane, I noticed that there was some leaking around some windows that turned out to be related to wood rot. Additionally, I've been struggling with rot issues around a pool closet that wasn't all that well designed. I filed a request with Mr. Handyman and Chad (the owner) promptly responded. Once again, I found Chad and the whole team at Mr. Handyman to be fantastic. He listened carefully to the concern, evaluated the issues and came up with the most cost-effective solutions. He made sure he set expectations in advance of scheduling the work and carefully chose his people that had the right skill set to do the job perfectly. Speaking of the right skillset -- Steven, the lead technician on the job, was just phenomenal to work with. Have you ever met someone who just really knows their stuff and makes you feel at ease? That's Steven in a nutshell. He's worked in all aspects of construction and it shows in his confidence and the quality of his work. He kept me in the loop throughout the entire job and made sure I was completely satisfied. Additionally, I had relayed some struggles I was having caring for my elderly father, and he was a sympathetic ear - offering some advice and ultimately assuring me that he had my back on the house repairs so that I could focus on helping my Dad. There are just not enough people like Steven in the world. He is a rockstar. Additionally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Dylan, who helped assist Steven, he too was extremely professional and worked hard to help keep to the timeframe quoted. Ultimately, the job was completed in a timely and professional manner. The quality of work was fantastic and I couldn't be more pleased. I would not hesitate to hire 'Mr. Handyman' again in the future and would recommend their services to anyone.

I will not hire Tom again. He gives you a reasonable quote, but beware--it seems reasonable because…read morehe does not fully understand the job. He will tell you that he does, but in my experience, he is not an experienced handyman. Tom will underestimate a job, agree to a price, and then change the price once he realizes the job is more difficult or time-consuming than he expected. I hired Tom to install a gazebo that several other experienced technicians told me would take about a day. It took Tom three days. We agreed on a set price a month before the job, but once he realized he was over his head and needed to hire an additional handyman, he put that extra cost on me. I paid the additional amount for his handyman even though I felt I shouldn't have had to, because the additional expense resulted from his lack of understanding of the job. He also tried to charge me more because the gazebo took him longer than expected, despite telling me that he was having issues understanding the instructions. The additional time and difficulty were not my fault. Tom is also very slow, and a simple project may take two to three times longer because of his inexperience. On top of that, he initially was not going to clean up the mess he left at my house after I told him I would not pay extra for the additional time. Thankfully, he eventually cleaned it up with my help. Tom will give you one price and, if he runs into difficulties due to his inexperience, ask for more money and change the original quote. DO NOT HIRE HIM, and do not rely on his quoted price or claimed experience. Trust me, you will regret it.
