Add to that the overall appearance of the entire facility which is lovely and clean, the good and plentiful food, and all the excellent protocols they have in place to run all aspects of the home...they rate 5 stars. Both of our parents have Alzheimer's so it was difficult and distressing for them to leave their home for a nursing home...but after 4 months they now call it home and Dad says he feels like he's in good hotel because of the way they are cared for, and how nice their 2 rooms and bathroom look. Gilpin is the best and we love the good people who take such good care of our dear parents.

They have dedicated staff who coordinate care to ensure proper rehabilitation. My mom and family cannot rave enough about Tirus (Dir. of Nursing) whose exceptional smile, demeanor, and personality are calming, uplifting, attentive, encouraging, comforting, and supportive. His energy is contagious. He is highly in tuned with a patient's needs and provided us with much-needed advice in terms of identifying subtle signs of symptoms in someone stoic. He was born to do this!! Lily (Dir. of Rehab) and Stephanie (Dir, of OT), Emily, and Bridgette (PT) were committed to ensuring my mom's rehab went exceedingly well. My mom surpassed some of the doctor's rehab expectations. Tirus, Lily, and Stephanie ensured my mom was not discharged prematurely - an option that could have been driven by insurance. Rebecca (Admin Coordinator) was very friendly and provided no limits on who could attend the weekly family update meetings. (My mom had 5 family members at these meetings.) Meetings were highly coordinated and provided realistic and forthright information. It was clear the people responsible for my mom's care had her best interests in mind. While the nurses/aides have many demands on them, they (too many to cite and I don't want to inadvertently forget to mention someone) took particular care to make my mom's stay comfortable and enjoyable. Many really went out of their way for my mom. They were truly special. They have 2 televisions in the Rehab lobby area showing different things to cater to wider audiences. The nurses/aides rev up festivities during holidays or whenever they can. With my mom and other patients being Philadelphia Eagles fans, they got them energized and engaged while watching the Eagles games (regular season, playoffs and Super Bowl VICTORY). They had entertainment come in to keep patients engaged. My mom loved everyone so very much that 6 months after her discharge she visited them and brought bagels and coffee to pay tribute and to spend time with them. She continues to be thankful to them. This review is long overdue. As my mom says, if you could put stars in the folders of those who work in Rehab, put in a whole galaxy of them. ENDLESS THANKS!!!

Checking in today only to raise awareness for this incredible place. Taylor Hospice, not to be…read moreconfused with Taylor Hospital's Hospice which is next door. When a family is faced with end of life issues for a family member there are a few choices but not many people to talk to about it. To be fair i first became aware of Taylor Hospice when i sought bereavement counseling after my husband passed in Crozer hospital. I came here weekly for 2 months, 7 years ago for this support group that met here in their first floor great room fully aware of what was going on in the 4 guest rooms( my term) upstairs. ---Namely the art of dying with dignity. At that time I was impressed by the facility, grounds, staff and decided at the time when the need arises I would like a facility such as this. There are plenty of hospices around, most in hospitals and this is not to be confused with Taylor Hospital's Hospice which is a much higher bedded facility in the hospital. Taylor Hospice is a separate facility thar shares the side parking lot with the hospital but is its own unique facility with only 4 rooms. Its located in an old mansion-like home on a several acre wooded property teaming with bird and small wildlife in Delaware County. Who would ever know about this place? This is truly a unique hospice facility in the Delaware Valley. There are beautiful areas outside to regroup and perhaps gain composure before and after visits. Inside it feels as if you are in a home. It's pleasantly decorated, comfy and the compassionate, loving staff is nothing short of spectacular. When not upstairs with the guest you can regroup downstairs in the sunroom or the great room. VISITS: unlimited at all hours, 24/7. I am here daily now this second week of August 2014 to partake in the road home of a very dear friend. I was "adopted" into her family 14 years ago at 42 so i am not biological family but it doesn't matter as I am welcomed by the staff and treated as well as family. Today Barbara took the time to properly explain the dying process and then gave me a pamphlet to take home. She took the time to tell me what she already learned about my friend and asked me to share with her things about my friend. I know this is what they do as they interact in a dignified way with the person who is dying. The people who work here are kind and loving and as previously stated-spectacular. Should the need arise i will choose Taylor Hospice for family or for my own journey home to God.

I think you will conclude that this is a special place that really stands out compared to the for-profit options in the area. I'm sure it isn't perfect, but it's absolutely the type of place, if home isn't an option, where I'd like to live. This place cares and is genuinely home to the residents. You can see it in the artwork on the walls, the front doors of each resident's apartment, and the community that you see in the dining room and activity center.

My poor grandmother with severe Alzheimer's was there recently for a short respite stay and the condition she was in when I picked her up was disgusting and appalling that any human being would have to live like that. She had been sitting in her own urine and feces for hours that when I got her home she had sores and a red rash developing. I actually left her wheel chair out front of the facility because the smell coming from in was atrocious. Her room smelled like a Porta potty and the floor was covered in feces. She had bags of clothes wrapped up in her closet saturated and urine and feces as well. Then I go to the bathroom to gather her belongings and there is a urine stained diaper sitting on the shelf along with the rest of her clean unused diapers. My heart sank, I could not believe what I was seeing. I just can't imagine what else she might have gone through especially not being able to speak up for herself. I filed a complaint at the Lorelton but haven't heard anything since. I just can't believe the amount of money we paid to have her there, that this is the type of care she received. This is just plain elder abuse and neglect.
