Built on the idea "that imperfection makes things sweeter," a small storefront in Youngskvartalet opening at 07h45 on weekdays and 11h00 on weekends, guests will find a daily dozen Doughnuts in rotation at prices rangimg NOK 56-59 depending on complexity. Also offering Bagels and Coffee, all handmade daily, it is amongst neon sprinkles that decisions are made, a Brioche base the starting point for large rings that are fluffy with a hint of Yeast and excellent Frosting clearly made from good Ingredients. Good donuts with unique flavors! They are quite heavy and not so much light and fluffy melt in your mouth type. The staff was very helpful in getting the donuts with clean utensils due to an allergy. The price was a bit steep at around 5$ US dollars per donut. read more

Great donut spot in Oslo. I didn't expect Oslo to have good donuts (Americans really are the pros at all things that are terrible for you), but we came here a few times over the course of 2 months and had consistently good experiences. I actually prefer their chocolate frosting to donuts in the States - it's richer and more chocolatey. We really liked the chocolate smash and a blueberry cream one (can't remember the name of it, but it was filled with both blueberry and custard). Cannot say enough about the donuts here! I make a point to try "Boston Cream pie" donuts everywhere I go, and this was the BEST ONE IVE EVER HAD. The cream wasn't overly sweet and held its shape inside the donut. The chocolate layer on the outside was a hard shell, not a wet layer, so it didn't ooze off. And the dough was chewy and perfectly airy. (AKA the holes in the dough were not too close or too far apart.) They also make the best apple frittatas. So much apple in each one. Even the staff was amazing. All residents of other countries coming together to work in harmony and happy to talk with the tourists (like me.) They gave great suggestions, let us use their bathroom, and made a special design in my latte...when I challenged their skills. Seriously fun crew. And seriously good donuts. read more

I've been to a few donut shops in Singapore and in NYC that let me down such that I questioned if I even liked donuts anymore. The answer is: my ugly baby has brought me back to the donut life. I got Raspberry Pistachio and Lemon Meringue, while my friend chose Vanilla and Apple Fritter. At 59 NOK a pop, these donuts are not cheap. But...when would I be in Oslo again? And these donuts look and ARE absolutely scrumptious. The donuts are fluffy, and the toppings pack so much flavor in each bite. Though they left oil marks on the wax paper, they did not taste very oily. P.S. when people walked in at basically closing time, the lady behind the counter still assisted them. She also gave her two favorite donuts, which happened to be the ones my friend and I got! Apple Fritter and Lemon Meringue ;) Accompanied by lovely service, who gave us mugs of hot water and chatted with us even as the store was about to close, and an adorable store, this place is one definitely worth going to. read more

Freaking amazingggggggg and expensive!! They have new flavors weekly. I tried the coffee with the cereal flakes. Omg....still dreaming of it . The donuts are soft yet crispy, the flavors are unique yet not too alarming to the taste buds. Fun place, quality goods! read more

There are many things to say about My Ugly Baby. Here they are in no specific order. - what a name. Why? I don't know. But after eating these donuts, I too became an ugly baby. An ugly food baby. - the staff were so nice. I always warn donut shops that I am a donut super nerd. Some staff respond in kind. Some staff look at me crazy and ask what sort of donut I want. These staff, however, were about as crazy as me. They even showed me the kitchen, and let me meet the head baker! - the baking operation is on point. They have a very wee kitchen that pumps out donuts like a machine. The head baker said 300 on a weekday, 900 on a weekend. I will spare you on the other nerdy details that I asked. - my donut was absolutely delicious. I had a raised donut with chocolate sauce (Moroccan, I was told) and smash (tortilla chips covered on chocolate and smashed up). What I loved about it - a perfect three layer. Light, fluffy donut; strong chocolate flavour; crunchy, salty contrast. Really so good! To be honest I was full and still gladly ate the whole thing. It was too good to pass up. - I've noticed with donut shops, design seems to be more important than quality of donut. Hipster sells; cruddy looking Italian bakery doesn't (despite being better). However, this place nails design & quality. They even had sparkling water on tap. Who has that?! So nice. -super pricey. Yes, Norway is well known for its pricey holidays; but even adjusting for that, I think a donut is capable of being pretty cheap. A donut SHOULD cost 1-2 £/$/€. Anything else is really an up charge, excluding speciality donuts (covered in bacon, vegan, etc). Five out of five. Great staff, great donuts, good coffee, well oiled baking machine. Hello diabetus! I have tried the donuts a couple of time and I am sure I got a little bit of diabetus each time to be honest. However, totally worth it. But a whole donut is a lot, so for me, perfect to share. Great service! Good coffee! And yummy donuts. Location is good, staff is super chilled and friendly. I think I like the new name a lot more (: I was happy to find a place in Oslo that pays a homage to my home region of Northeastern US with its quirky flavored donuts. The flavors change frequently, but Easter Boston Cream and Salted Popcorn were two that caught my eye. I decided to play it simple and opted for a basic Oreo donut. The dough unfortunately gave off a bit of an oily aftertaste, which wasn't too too bothersome, but it was a little undesirable. It was light and fluffy, and thankfully wasn't masked by the frosting -- which wasn't too sweet -- or the toppings. The hip ambiance makes it a great place to sit and sip coffee with friends; I just wish there was more seating so a lot more people could enjoy the cool environment! read more

I was today in My Ugly Baby, and i was very disappointed with a girl who is working/seling donuts. She was so arrogant, unprofessional. It was my first and last visiting this store! I was planning tree days to came there and try donuts and also i was planing to surprised my kids with donuts. I buy 8 different donuts. Only one of them was very tasty but other else was untasted (kids didn't want to eat them,in the end i put them in trash) . I paid 400kr + 50kr for tips .It is not worth to pay that price for something that you can fined on another place more tasteful and plus that the staff (in my case girl) is very arrogant. I have heard the story about how the main owner of this shop treated the creator and mind behind it. And that was really bad. But I had allready tried the donuts by then, and I loved them. They are more brioche like, and therfore not so sweet, witch I love. The glace, no matter the taste makes it sweet enough for me. I normaly do not like donnuts that much, but these I love. Though the story of how the majority owner pushed Taylor out of the company she created, made me want to ordner from her shop instead. And I did, but the donnuts are too sweet for me. They are smaller but also cheaper. I thought that the donnuts would be much allike in the two shops, because Taylor started bouth, but they are not. I dont know if Taylor changed her recipy or If MY UGLY BABY did, but for me the one I like is the last one. So I have to stick to MY Ugly Baby even though I do not like the way they got the firm in the first place. read more

Today I bought the Strawberry Sprinkles donut and the frosting/icing was really good. Although the donut itself was really fluffy and airy in texture, it had soaked a little bit to much oil from frying and got a little sickening after a few bites. read more
