Any place that I walk into that smells like chocolate automatically gets 5 stars. Unfortunately,…read morefor Cocoa - on the Go Go (which seriously should be renamed Cocoa - on the No No), I'm giving it just two. The smell was incredible when I walked in. I was meeting a friend and couldn't wait to indulge in a large cup of hot chocolate. There was hardly anyone there (this was a Tuesday at 1pm) and I grabbed the couch to myself and just sat back and relaxed. Things were looking good for this place and I had one of those "This may be my new favorite place in Oslo" moments. I was hungry so I went up to the counter and ordered a piece of carrot cake. The guy took my order and looked bothered the whole time because my order for the carrot cake (which was sitting in a fridge) took him away from making cupcakes. Apparently this place doesn't operate because of customers. Who knew?! A little annoyed at his rude demeanor, I took my carrot cake back to where I was sitting and enjoyed it. It was really good! Obviously the cocoa man puts more effort into his food than his customer service skills. I tried logging onto wifi and had to ask for the password. Again, he seemed beyond annoyed as I distracted him from his dumb cupcakes. I logged on, but naturally, the internet didn't work. Too disgusted to ask him anything further, I just said whatever and kept eating the carrot cake. My friend arrived and we chatted for a little bit before ordering. I noticed at that point that the internet decided to begin working. How convenient. We went up to order cocoa and I ordered just the Classic. Mr. Rude made it and it took him about 10 minutes because the place began to fill up and there were orders ahead of mine. He brought the cocoa over to where I was sitting once finished and I enjoyed it. It honestly, was one of the best cocoas I have ever had. My only problem was that I paid over 40kr for it and it was not filled up very far in the cup. I think if I'm paying a stupid amount for cocoa, I should get my money's worth. The atmosphere took a turn for the worst as all the kids in the area got out of school and decided to come ruin everyone's cafe experience by being loud and out of control. I don't know why parents here just let their kids run around for hours after school but I really think they'd be better off heading home and studying or doing something more productive with their time. At this point I couldn't wait to get the hell outta the place. -1 star for atmosphere -1 star for crap price and amount of cocoa you get for it -2 stars for rude and horrific customer service -1 star for shotty wifi +1 star for concept (which, if you think about it, is pretty freaking cool) +1 star for good quality of cocoa and carrot cake Won't go back here.

Everything from Macrons, ice cream, pizza, dim sum, moose burgers, Hungarian fry breads, sushi, and you name it. There are several good restaurants around it as well. Super family and kid friendly. Some places have their own tables and there is a center area where the whole gang can find their feast and meet in the middle. Most of the food places close around 8 PM so maybe not a late night spot all though there a several places serving adult beverages after 8 PM. Most of the food court places do not serve alcohol so grab your pain killers from one place and food from another. If you are in Oslo, carve out a lunch or dinner time slot and figure out how to eat here and try a little something from several places. Most definitely eat here and have fun!!!!

Kids got fresh pizza - which they loved and my wife's curry was "meh." The price tag for five people was nearly $200 -- well more than I would have expected for a glorified food court. But, ambience was nice - no air conditioning however - on one of Oslo's hottest days on record. So all in all, a tiring trek for average food at high prices. We will pass on this next time.

Just say it was impressive from beginning to the end. It's a lot of course menu non stop for sure. First we were greet and sat at the couch where the pre appetizers were served. Then we were escorted to our table in the middle of the room overlooks the open kitchen, where you can see a dozen of chefs/sour chefs prepared the foods. Just say that all dishes are very appealing and well presented. Majority of dishes are definitely a hit and just couple are just unsure since my pallet didn't quite welcomed the dishes. Services are so high ended, very attentive and knowledgeable. I got wines & champagne to go with the course and it was fantastic. The place is modern, minimal decor but goes well with Nordic atmosphere and in certain way, warm. My kid enjoyed it quite a bit, with all dishes with 3 different desserts plus one for my birthday so he was over the moon. He gave it a 2 thumbs up for overall experiences. Definitely an event not to forget.

Fortunately, we were able to make a reservation at Kontrast for dinner and see what a 2-Michelin star place was like in Norway. The interior decor is modern and upscale, giving a great vibe that I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The service was top-notch, with friendly service and detailed explanations of the dishes we would eat. One of the dishes that stood out to me during this meal was the duck liver brulee with sunflower seeds, a course that had rich, caramelized meaty flavor that was grounded by the nuttiness of the seeds. Another one that I enjoyed a lot was the grilled langoustine, a succulent piece of seafood with a charred exterior that really showcased the quality of their ingredients. I was also a big fan of the reindeer from Jotunheimen that came with beetroots from Dalen farm. My group originally had tried reindeer meat at a different restaurant earlier in the trip and didn't enjoy it that much since it was too gamey for us. However, this reindeer was much better in quality and filled with a lot of flavor while not being too overwhelming. Finally, the desserts of sea buckthorn with woodruff and blueberry with black koji were a great way to end the meal. The presentation of these dishes were well-executed, and the tartness of the dishes went well with the sweeter counterparts in each. Overall, although Kontrast is on the pricey side I enjoyed the experience and am glad I was able to sample the best of what Norway had to offer!
