I've used MYA locksmith to make multiple keys for two local organizations I'm a member of, and all three times it has been great. Usually with older locks easily 50+ years old, they have to order the blanks , but all times they've been able to get the keys made within a week. These are both key types that Home Depot and Lowe's are unable to do. One set had an issue and needed to be recut and I brought them back and they recut all ten. I would give negative stars if I was able. Stay far away from this business, shady, and destroyed my lock. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with a locksmith. I accidentally lock myself out of my house so I called 3 locksmiths one being Mya Locksmith. Mya called me back and said he would be at my house within 30 minutes. When I asked about how much it would be he said he couldn't tell me sight unseen but he would give me an estimate when he got to my house. The other two locksmiths also called and gave me an estimate between $150.00 - $175.00 I explained that I already had someone coming out but thanked them for returning my call in a timely manner. The fellow that showed up was driving a soccer mom van, no truck, no signage on the vehicle what so ever and no tools, just a drill and lock set. He looked at my door and said he couldn't pick the lock because he didn't have enough room. Basically what he was trying to do was to "card" the door, meaning you slide a credit card where the latch bolt is located between the door and jam and with a little luck the door opens. This is NOT picking a lock, not even close. He then said the only way to get the door open was to drill the tumbler, but not to worry as he had another lock set in the car, he stated that it would run about $480.00 this included the service call, drilling the lock and installing the new lock set. I actually laughed at that point and told him I had gotten estimates from $150.00-$175.00 but since he was already there and I was already late for work that I would agree to have him drill the lock for $200.00 and I would take care of installing a new lock set. At this point I just wanted to get my car keys and be off to work. He proceeded to drill the lock and twisted the door knob with a pair of Vise-grips and gained entry to my house. He then asked me how I was going to pay for this at which point I replied, with a credit card. At first he said he didn't accept credit cards, when I told him that I did not have the cash on me and asked him what he would like me to do he responded well I can take a credit card but it would be an additional 15%. At this point I had had enough and told him I would pay $200.00 on the credit card and he could take it or leave it. To add insult to injury while he was processing my card he asked me if I wanted to leave him a tip. When I said no thank you , he looked extremely annoyed and just walked out. One interesting and odd note was when he gave me the receipt there was no business name or phone number on it. Do yourself a favor, if you ever need a locksmith call anyone but Mya, I would stay as far away from this business as possible unless you want a unprofessional, hack to work on your locks. read more

I'll be honest with you (and not because I don't love lying, but because you seem like such a nice person)...locksmiths are more expensive than I would've thought. We needed a small mailbox lock replaced, which I thought would be quite cheap...but as I'm learning (and understandably), you also have to pay the locksmith for their time in coming out and handling the problem, and service calls cost money. Diego was quick to respond when I requested a quote via Yelp, easy to communicate with via phone or text, and clearly a competent locksmith. The process took longer than expected; firstly because he was a bit late to arrive, and secondly because he wanted to make sure he did the job right. I needed to replace a smart key for my car. Two other locksmiths told me it could not be done because the manufacturer had not "released the codes". But Diego was able to crack the code and program my aftermarket key, despite having to tear out half the dashboard to reach the correct connections. Job well done. On Monday I had been back and forth between Home Depot and Lowes to get mailbox keys made and both the machines and the people cutting them were having a problem, they just weren't cutting correctly and so as I had returned my 4th set of keys the guy suggested a locksmith to get the back end of the key cut correctly. I brought the key in to Mya's on Monday afternoon. I told the girl my story about the other places not cutting the keys right and she said no problem she would cut them. She handed me the first two copies and I told her the back end isn't correct it needs to be flattened as the other two store had cut them the SAME exact way she did. She said she would file them. I then asked her "IF the keys don't work can I bring them back" (because I have already had to return other keys and I didn't want to pay for more expensive keys and not be able to return them) she said "yeah that's no problem you can bring them back if they don't work" GREAT!! Well I went today (Thursday) to try them out in the mailbox and again they didn't work so I went to return them because she said I could bring them back. I walk in and she said to me "oh no they didn't work?" and I said "no they didn't I talked to the building manager about it and I'm going to have to return them, she's just going to replace the tumbler at this point and get my keys made for me". She said no problem I just have to call the owner I have never done a return before. Sure ok no problem. After she gets off the phone with the owner she says "I never said you could get a refund on the keys, there's a sign here that says all sales final". I then said "I SPECIFICALLY asked you if I could bring them back if they didn't work and you said that's not a problem" She said "yes you can bring them back and you would just have to pay a technician to replace the whole set for $185". MY MIND WAS BLOWN! I had ALREADY paid $50 for keys to be cut EXACTLY how Home Depot and Lowes cut them for only $12, AND those places took my return when the keys didn't work. SO now I have three useless keys that I paid $50 for absolutely nothing. This chick had ZERO clue she wasn't supposed to do returns only when she called the owner did she realize she messed up and then try to move her words around to try to cover her butt. I would have NEVER bought the keys knowing I wasn't able to return them if they didn't work ESPECIALLY because I asked that SPECIFIC question before purchasing them. read more

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. The dispatcher said 225 to open doors and mak 2 keys. If the key was in the car, it would have been a 152$ break into the car. If not, it would cost 225$ all together. He opened the door and didn't have the tool he needed to remove the panel and get the access code. He said it would be 300$ now bc of this and needed only cash!! I have it said on camera!! Look at the link below! So ... I called the dispatcher and confronted the fact that I was paying 75$ more bc he didn't have the right tool, not my fault. The dispatcher said I could pay with my car, and it would be 225$, not 300$, and I gave no apology for his technician trying to extort 75$ from me!! Than the next day could still not provide the key bc some access code place closed early due to the holiday, again not my fault ypu should have called earlier knowing your coming to my house to give me my keys. Now we are on day three, the company will not give back my 100$ down payment, and I said the 100$ was from opening the door to do the work he couldn't do?!?!?! Outrageous, you should be ashamed of yourselves!! So we had the appointment sey I rushed home from work and the appointment was for 430pm and he didn't show until 7 than the key didn't work and he had to fix the door and the part he broke and was going to just leave there. I have video proof of lots of it. You also charged tax on the hundred I paid 3 days ago!! I already paid it, and now, for more revenge, they charged me tax, which was not the deal it was 225$ straight up. My lawyers have the tapes, but here is just one of the tech, telling me it's now 300$ instead of 225 $$ liars, scam artist, and blackmail! I think for the money, you do get a job well done. The locks on my house were 20 years old and some of them only intermittently opened correctly with the keys the previous owners left. So when we decided to get it done, the job was done quickly and professionally, but with attention to detail so that the locks were secure, no sloppy work and all of the locks open smoothly when keyed in.
