I visited the market yesterday and had an extremely unpleasant encounter with who I assume is the…read moreowner. There is a sign in front of the corn asking customers not to remove the husks. I was simply and lightly opening the tops of a few ears to check for any issues when he approached me and began yelling. He told me that all of the corn had been picked that day and that there was no reason for me to check it. I handed him one ear that I had found to be dry. He took it from me, ripped the husk off, waved it in my face, and told me that it was dry because "corn grows from the bottom." I understand that produce can vary in quality, and I have no issue with occasionally finding a less-than-perfect ear of corn. What I do have an issue with is being berated for simply trying to select what I was purchasing. I asked him why he felt it was appropriate to speak to a customer that way. His response was that he didn't need my business. I'm sure this review may receive a similar response to the way I was treated in person, as well as the responses I've seen to other negative reviews. Regardless, I believe customers should be able to select their produce without being yelled at or made to feel unwelcome. Perhaps selling the corn in bags would be a better approach if customers are not permitted to handle or inspect it in any way. I have enjoyed their produce to date, and it's very unfortunate that solely based on my experience yesterday, I will not be returning.

The just right combination of eat now bakery items, fresh iced coffee vendors, craft home made items, and organic produce. We tried iced coffee from shore break cafe one black with vanilla syrup and one with oat milk and caramel syrup. Both tasted delicious and were priced nicely, only .50 cents each for oat milk or syrup flavors. We also got a strawberry home made pop tarts from them that had a nice flakey pastry crust with juicy strawberry filling inside. There were also gorgeous flowers for sale. There was fresh grapes for sale from Aylano farms, they even were offering free samples of all their varieties. My favorite were the seedless Concord grapes, we bought a bushel for six dollars. Almost all of the vendors accepted cash, cards, venmo, apple pay or Zelle which is almost always my concern as someone who forgets to bring enough cash. My only recommendation would be to come with enough time to find parking as it's pretty limited. Also I didn't see any bathrooms so plan ahead on that front.

Whenever we are in the area, we try to find local farm stands/farmer's markets to purchase our produce from. This is by far our favorite one in Cape May county. All the produce is local or nearby (watermelon from Delaware). We've bought duck/turkey eggs from here because they've ran out of chicken eggs. Their eggs go fast. When we stopped by over the weekend, they mentioned they had the eggs out at 9 AM and it was gone by 9:20 AM so we ended up buying a delicious cantaloupe. They also had lemons, limes, tomatoes, green beans, etc. We've been to other spots nearby where they claim it's a farmer's market, but it's several days old or from a far away land. Some days, there is a friendly cashier, some days, it was the honor system. It's cash only. We will keep coming back!
