First of all, I am a local that also works at a grocery store. So I am very familiar with how a store is ran. I got followed twice on two separate occasions by two different people. The second time I had my daughter with me and lady behind the deli walks into the aisle just to ask me if I needed help. I said no just looking and then she replies, "Oh cause people can get lost in this store." I don't see how anyone can get lost in that store because it's very small. But I guess that was her being sarcastic. I knew what her true intentions were and I did not appreciate being watched. I am a very honest person and I DO NOT steal. Employees need better training!!! For us, our visit to the Allen Family Farm is often the highlight of our vacation at the NJ shore. The only issue we ever have is that the hours and days vary based on the availability of the blueberries. Because of this, we have found that we must call the night before we plan to go so that our kids are not disappointed when we get up early (to avoid the heat of the day) and the farm is closed to let the blueberries ripen. We usually pick several pounds of blueberries, planning to freeze some for later, but often end up eating most of them before they get to the freezer.

We probably ate a couple of pints worth while we were picking which is not only approved but encouraged. The lady who runs it is very helpful and pleasant and the prices are well below the other pick-your-own farms nearby. We will eat many of the blueberries in the next couple of days but we will also freeze most of what we picked for later. We will also go back this weekend with our grandchildren and pick more. This is a great activity for them while here at the NJ shore. Since the season started early this year and will probably end in a couple of weeks, we will be sure to get to the farm as soon as the grandkids arrive. We highly recommend Belleplain's Best Blueberries.
