Ah, now here's the Greek restaurant Preston Street needs: check out my problems with Vineyard Steak House! Mykonos offers the kind of Greek cuisine I like: subtle, flavoursome food for great prices. Go for a Greek experience: if you haven't had it before, this is an adventure you will definitely enjoy!
I've waxed lyrical about it before, but I am a massive fan of Mediterranean food. It's flavours are so subtle and refined, it's the perfect meal to really pause over and eat slowly, in relaxed and quiet surroundings. Mykonos delivers on nearly all of these fronts: the food is very well cooked, and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed to enjoy it in. I'd recommend having some of the seafood: sometimes, living by the sea shows real benefits, and this is one of them.
My problems here are threefold: first of all, there's no upmarket Greek restaurant around, so Mykonos is the best place we've got, which means I pine for more upmarket food, service and quality. Combine this with the general ambiance of Preston Street (a little loud and obnoxious), and it's sometimes hard to enjoy a nice, pleasant meal. Finally, this loud, obnoxious atmosphere attracts a certain, louder clientele than I'd personally prefer. I know this makes me sound more than a little posh, but this is a case where I will put my foot down. I want Greek food, and a little quiet, thank you very much!
In the end, I want Mykonos to be so much more, but that's more me projecting than anything they're doing wrong. This is, generally, a very nice place to sit for a meal, and the food is top-notch. It just isn't everything it could be, and I wish it was. A shame personally, but for all of you, well worth a visit! read more
