BEWARE! Silvia's Alterations is a joke! My Mom took her…read moredress about 2 and a half weeks ago or so to be shortened. The dress was promised to her 8/12. When my Mom went in to pick it up, she was told it wasn't ready because of the car show, and that her dress would now be ready yesterday 8/17. Guess what?! My Mom went to pick it up the morning of 8/17, and IT STILL WAS NOT READY! The dumb lady now told her that she could comeback between 3 and 4pm. My mom went back at 3:30, and it was finally finished. My Mom didn't need anything done to the dress except to shorten it. Nothing else. It should not have taken as long as it did. Promises mean nothing at Silvia's Alterations. This place is a joke, and the work isn't even that great. She didn't even knock a few bucks off the $100 charge for the inconvenience. Beyond horrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and take your items elsewhere.

When I purchased my wedding dress off the rack at Magnolia, they recommended me to A-Z alterations…read more(along with a couple other local shops). She was quick and responsive when I called to schedule my first fitting. The first fitting went perfect, she was super helpful and made some recommendations to make the dress easier to bustle/ wear throughout the wedding. We scheduled the second fitting for about a month which was like amazing turn around! When I arrived to the second appointment she was not there. I stood in the drizzle for 15 minutes and called like 3 times before giving up. I called multiple times the next few days and never heard back (super anxiety enduring for a bride)! My (now) husband ended up stopping by her shop during regular business hours and managed to get her to call me back. Turns out there had been some mishaps with her keys and she locked herself out of her store. We were able to schedule the 2nd fitting and everything went well. I did loose a little weight though and she recommended coming in a week or so before the wedding for final alterations in case I lost more or fluctuated again. I called to schedule something about 10 days before the wedding and she was shocked, saying it was not a lot of time but she would do it. She ended up turning it around in a weekend and the dress fit perfect! Her quality is fantastic, but communication wasn't my favorite. Generally cost was about what I expected for the area and luckily I got my dress on a fat discount so I had the wiggle room. I don't think my experience was the worst case scenario and probably not the typical - overall I would recommend but maybe only planning your appointments during her normal open hours!

Each time I walked by Min Kim, I always stopped to look. I was riveted and impressed by the clean classic lines, impeccable finishing and the sheer beauty of their clothing. I figured they must be very expensive. I lost out for over 2 years due to this uninformed assumption. I finally walked in to ASK about their alteration prices. They were authentically warm and welcoming. I felt treated as an honored guest in their home. The shop was delightfully clean, with not a pin out of place. I'm petite. Consequently, I'd roll up most of my jeans so that I wouldn't trip over them. My other jeans featured hems that dragged on the floor. I asked Min Kim what thy would charge to hem them. Then I asked the same question about hand hemming. I was surprised to find that there was no additional charge for hand hemming. I was also surprised about how very affordable the quote was. So surprised that I queried, "For each leg?" It was per jean. I brought 2 pairs in for hand hemming. They were pinned with care and excellent communication about length. They asked me when I needed them. Even though I'd said, "No hurry," the beautifully hemmed jeans were ready for pickup inside of 2 days. They had me try them on to ensure I had exactly what I wanted. I did - in fact, so much so that I wasted no time in bringing in 8 more jeans to be hand hemmed. Because of the extremely affordable price for their artistry and impeccable labor, I all but had to arm wrestle them before they'd accept my check on which I'd gratefully added in more than the price of their bill. Min Kim did a flawless job on all the jeans (and at an unmatched great price!), They more than exceeded my expectations. Ever since then, I've been able to feel comfortable and have full confidence while entrusting them with my clothing. I'm delighted with the care and attention they've given to all of my clothes.
