I found a nice little Myrtlewood slab here and made it into a charcuterie board. They have a fairly large selection of Myrtlewood pieces and slabs. Most of the slabs are only 1 inch, a bit thin for tables but nice for smaller pieces. Nothing here is cheap but they have a very nice collection of Myrtlewood. read more

Discovered this Garibaldi shop en route to Cannon Beach. Have admired bowls made out of Myrtlewood for years and recently became very interested in creating wood projects out of interesting types of wood. The finished products this shop sells are very nice but I when I saw that they stocked various sized slabs and blanks in the rear room I got very excited. Bought several beautiful rough boards and can't wait to begin making some nice small serving boards out of them. Myrtlewood is not cheap but these boards and slabs are a great value for the beauty they provide. I will definitely return for a return trip. read more

Oh my lantana. Cha Ching goes your paycheck. We have always wanted to stop in here and finally did. Really cool wood art. Not all Myrtle wood. Lots of products from other countries. As cool as the store is, it's a very expensive place to buy from. You can be your own judge. It's at least worth checking out. There are lots of wood gifts. They had some awesome Rolling Pins for baking. Fossils. Thunder Eggs. Polished Stones and many other awesome gifts. At a price I hope you can afford. read more

Located right along the highway, this building jumps out at you as you head south into Garibaldi. The factory is on sight and is the love child of a man who has devoted his life to creating beautiful things. It is a very large store, filled with beautifully carved bowls, rolling pins, walking sticks and canes, wall decor, lamp stands, all made from the beautiful, multicolored myrtle tree. Some a little too quirky for my taste, but others, really gorgeous. There is some really fragrant incense that I could not resist, also myrtle. And a big selection of colorful geode bookends. The back room, i.e. the "Wood Room", is for the hobbyist. You can purchase your own chunk of wood and create your own masterpiece. read more

My husband is an avid, rabid, woodworker. As soon as he saw this little shop - actually the largest shop on the North Coast - I swear he started salivating! Myrtlewood is very difficult to get both inside and outside of Oregon. Because myrtlewood is indigenous to only Oregon and grows slowly into a tree (In California, it grows mainly as a bush), there are strict regulations. The history teacher in me ;) wants you also to know that it's also the Oregon State tree. The shop owners, Richard & Patty Stanfill, are virtual encyclopedias when it comes to the subject of myrtlewood. The store is chockfull of beautifully made, bowls, platters, cutting boards, rolling pins, carved animals, lamps, wall art, etc., but we were there for the hobby wood, or raw wood stock (that's woodworker talk). My husband was dizzy at the selection of blocks, flat stock, bowl blanks and much more. Needless to say we dropped a few hundred dollars before leaving the store. I have a feeling The Myrtlewood Factory is going to be a regular stop on our trips home from Oregon. read more

We stopped here last year on our trip to Oregon and we loved visiting the shop! The quality of the woodwork is excellent and they have a ton of really interesting pieces that range from small ornaments (we got a few) all the way to very large pieces. My favorite has been a wooden cross that sits above my office door as a daily reminder of why I do what I do. I highly recommend this shop for their high-quality pieces! read more

Cruising highway 101 on vacation. Oh my! A wood store! Must stop and check it out! Checked out displays of turned items. Prices were right. As a craft wood turner it is very hard to price pieces. With Chinese wood pieces flooding the market only a turner can appreciate work that goes into a custom work. Beautiful myrtlewood. Myrtlewood is only found one place in U. S. Southern Oregon. It is is also found in Israel. Staff is very knowledgeable. He knew I was looking for blanks. Probably my woodturner T-shirt gave me away. Just pointed to the back room. Gold mine! Needless to say, walked out with my wallet a bit lighter and six bowl blanks. Prices are great for a guy from rural Idaho. Staff was friendly and handed me a business card and winked. The sales staff was friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. And the drive along the coast was sunny and relaxing.
