It's just not a must visit for now also due to location is a bit far from WeHo. I still love me weekly trips to WeHo, CA. I bought a Manifestation mini booklet and some uplifting cards from here after a reading service. I live in Santa Monica and I was super excited to know I had a crystal shop so close. I have purchased from them many times and the customer service was great. I went yesterday and purchased some tumble stones, bracelets and sage. One of the tumble stones was "jade". Now everyone knows that Jade is cold to the touch. This is how you can tell if it is truly Jade or not. Now I know Jade to be a bit pricey so I was elated to find a tumble stone of jade that was only 2.95. I didn't think about it at the time. I got home and compared my Jade to my Malachite stone. The jade wasn't cold to the touch and looked identical to my malachite (which I bought there as well). I called today and I told her what I stated above. She proceeded to tell me how the owner goes to Brazil to get the gems and they are real but you can come in and exchange or receive a refund. Then she proceeded to tell me Malachite is expensive and they don't sell small pieces of Malachite. Now please understand I purchased my Malachite tumble stone from them, which means someone is lying. This made me question if all my stones are truly real. I have been coming to Mystic Journey for intuitive readings for years (since my years at UCLA), and since moving away I call in from time to time for a spontaneous phone reading. I have read with numerous people and have always had a beautiful experience. I write this review today, in gratitude for each and every reader I have had the honor to read with (like **Athena (an angel), and many others). But my specific soul was called to read with ***Michael Wamback*** for so long since I first came in. I don't know what it was, but his energy fascinated me when he walked by and his connection to Celtic culture (which I guess I may have a connection to from a past life) really intrigued me. I don't know why I waited years to read with him but finally, during a very intense and troubling time I have been going through, I called in and asked to read with Michael (from afar, as I live abroad now!). Before I started my phone reading, I cleared my field and meditated and asked for my highest divine self to please welcome Michael in and provide me pure, clear, and concise messages from the divine. I cannot describe enough HOW clear and concise he was. I have never had such a reading that resonated with me. He was so sure and poured out the information. I went their yesterday and bought a "meditation stone". I was told at the counter that it was Onyx because nothing was marked. I bought it and brought it home. I examined it more closely and it was not Onyx or any other type of stone/crystal. It was colored glass. I called the store back to talk to them about this and they changed their mind and said it was Smokey Quartz. It appears jet black on the surface but if you hold it up to any light source, natural or indoor, it is transparent/translucent with no imperfections or lines or anything at all. It looks like the clarity of a drinking glass or looking out a window of your house. I live 2 hours away so returning it is not an option and I doubt they would return it anyway. I even asked a trusted source around here and it was confirmed to be colored man made glass. So messed up. read more

What a cool little spot if you're a fan of anything metaphysical, spiritual, or anything other worldly. I have friends who are into Tarot cards and they wanted to check out their collection here. They had several decks out for display-- all of which you could open up and look at for their unique art work. I don't know anything about tarot cards but I could appreciate all the intricate designs. Interested in healing stones? They have them here too. Lots of different ones with different properties. I recognized the labradorite stones instantly as it's a stone that I have that was turned into a piece of jewelry my sister made for me. On the shelves were several different books for all of your spiritual needs. I didn't look at any of them as I was more curious about the readings you can get from their resident psychics/ spirit guides/ tarot card readers. My one reason for taking off one star? It was $45 for a 15 minute reading. Whew! We met other people who were out of town and decided to partake but I would *never* pay that much to get a reading. I ended up wandering to the back of the store where I came across their "singing bowls" where I happily entertained myself following instructions by tapping and then rimming the bowls to make humming noises. Think Ms. Congeniality with Sandra Bullock performing her special talent for the judges with the glasses filled with water. Yup, that was me. I have yet to try one of their workshops but have it on my list of things to do next time I am home in LA. The staff is always accommodating and welcoming. I love spending a few minutes in the space whenever I find myself on Abbot Kinney. I will say that finding parking in Abbot Kinney can be very stressful. I tend to walk or uber whenever I am in town but would not recommend trying to find parking near the bookstore. read more

I freaking love this place. it's on the very popluar street Abbott Kinney in Venice. Very near the beach and a very happening area for children and adults alike. You might see a few celebrities, I know I have, I'll add a few pics of a few of them to my account. Let me add they were all very nice, I met them at my last job. So let's get down to it, they have a place in the back, where they have events and you can sit back and just chill and read a book. I think they do readings, or tarot cards or something like that, I'm scared of that stuff, but if it's your thang, that's a great place to go. I had two co workers go there and say they were very enlightened by their session. They were very pleased with their spiritual advisers, not sure if that's a proper title, but it seems to fit. Last time I bought a lovely Amethyst stone and a pendant to place it inside of for a necklace. The staff is also nice and knowledgeable. The only issue I ever had was once or twice it wasn't busy but, they were a little slow getting to me. I still just like to go in there. Sometimes I just go look around. The vibe in there is so Zen and they have more than just books. They have jewelry and all kinds of stones in all shapes and sizes for the collectors and healers of the world, or a person like me who loves to think on a spiritual plane and gain energy from the universe through the things the universe provides like my birthstone that represents peace among other things. I even tried to catch someone's attention because I needed help but it seemed like they went out of their way to avoid me. Other reviews also said that they seemed snobby and I can corroborate that. Don't come here- it's absurdly overpriced and if you don't present like an older white woman with money they won't bother trying to help you. Go see Venus. She is so kind and warm and yet so straight-forward and specific in her readings (and to be honest, the truth ain't that comfortable at times). From my understanding, she uses Akashic Records and Tarot for her readings. So if you're looking for someone who's not going to sugarcoat anything for you, but give you real-life actionable advice that's going to make you and your life decisions a lot better, go see Venus. I picked up an orange calcite stone that is supposed to be highly energizing and cleansing. Even if you aren't sure if you believe in these types of things, they're beautiful to have in your home. They also carry sage sprays, incense, perfume oils, Buddha statues...I do think some of the prices are inflated, for example their Florida Water is marked $19.95, but the same bottle can be found at my local Pavilions (of all places) for around $5.95. I went into Mystic Journey Bookstore on Main today shopping for my best friend who is really interested in mystical things, which I know very little about. Mina helped me as soon as I walked into the door and gave me such a clear explanation of all the crystals, candles, sage, soaps, and everything under the sun to help me pick out gifts for my friend. She even went the extra mile and printed out some additional explanations for the crystals I selected and tied everything beautifully together in gift wrapping for me. I first encountered this bookstore back in the spring/summer of 2009, and I will admit that I was more so being 'dragged' to it; I was under the impression it would one of those 100% new-age type of places where I clearly don't fit in since I don't wear sandals, patchouli or hang out in this part of town overall, but I was gladly mistaken. I walked into a neat space with not only books but interesting gifts, cards, candles, and colorful stones with a purpose in the front area to the right side. Staff was friendly but not intrusive as I took it upon myself to browse the shelves to see what they had to offer in books. I had to smile a little when I discovered I had a few of their selections on my own bookshelf at home. Talk about pre-judging... Go figure I wasn't even planning on making a purchase but what caught me the most was at the register: a selection of key rings and bracelets that had charms in the shape of a puzzle piece. They are all inscribed with 'I AM' on one side with a word of encouragement on the reverse side. I was so taken that I ended up buying one of the bracelets on the spot. This ran me under $15 and it lasted me for 3 years. I even returned back in 2012 to purchase a replacement. There weren't any of the one I was looking for on display, but the helpful rep went upstairs to check stock and came backdown with exactly what I was looking for. They have since moved from 1319 to their new location across the street and down a couple blocks on 1614 AK; I discovered this later at night after they were closed as we drove through the area. I paid for a 90 min read by one of their astrologers. it was supposed to be in person, but considering the time we are in, I get it, he preferred to do it over the phone. For one he was highly unorganized, gave me a little over 60 mins not 90, and when he sent me my chart (after our meeting), he had the WRONG county which changes EVERYTHING! I tried to speak to a manager for over a month now. They keep telling to send an email, but their email is under "maintenance" every time. Highly disappointed and a waste of $300. This is a much smaller version of it, though, the set up is REALLY cool, especially the back patio! And in the spectrum of uber-trendy location, who can beat Venice? Prices are touristy. And if you're a local and can afford it and are really into that kind of stuff, then you'd probably buy into it. The worst part? Parking. At first, I wasn't really liking my reading, because she wasn't telling me what I wanted to hear. truth is hard to swallow sometimes, lol, well pretty much she spoke the truth and i walked out frustrated. But to my surprise everything she predicted has come true, everything in that reading came true. I'm now a believer and will continue to return for some guidance. She's the best. I seriously hate to write a bad review, but I feel like I have to after what happened to me. First, I have been here several times and always had a good experience. I last came here on November 13, 2016 to by a gift for a friend. I purchased a bunch of stones. It took forever to get everything charged and ready for me to pay (which was fine and could have dealt with). The total came out to $134.27. I gave the cashier my Visa credit card after a few minutes she returned it to me, then she said something went wrong and that she had to ring everything up all over again. So I waited another 15 minutes and gave my card again. This time she tells me that my card declined, which I knew couldn't be right. I asked her to try again and she said the same thing. So I ended up paying her full IN CASH. One month later, I'm reviewing my credit card statement and I see that the credit card charge in the amount of $134.27 had gone through (ON TOP OF THE CASH I PAID)! Clearly, my credit card was charged. AND I paid in cash. And the only reason, the credit card "didn't go through" was because it ALREADY HAD. So I figured, no problem, I will just call them and they can fix it. I called them SO MANY TIMES. NO ANSWER. So then I had no choice but to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. I explained this simple story, you would think they would notice the error in their accounting and it would be easy to fix. NOPE. THEY ACTUALLY ARGUED AGAINST MY DISPUTE AND SHOWED MY CC Company a signed receipt!!!! How would there be a signed receipt when she told me it didn't go through and I paid cash!!! The stuff that is here is overpriced to begin with, that's fine, BUT TO DOUBLE CHARGE ME AND NOT PICK UP THE PHONE AND FIX THE MISTAKE really sucks. BTW I have a copy of their dispute response which includes a fraudulent signature that is clearly not mine. Seriously, why would you do this to your good customer? Such a rip off. I'm really hoping someone of sound mind will read this and contact me to fix this. read more
