I think it's important to note I'm not too educated on readings, yet my experience was terrible to say the least. The tarot reader administering it seemed to be very cold, uninterested, dismissive she only told me things I already knew moreover she picked at my insecurity during it there was really nothing positive about it the only thing she foresaw was someone keeping an eye on me but everything she knew was from what I told her and she only seemed to make guesses based on what she already knew, overall wouldn't ever do again she called me boring over and over I was scared to do a review in fear I might get cursed but I must let everyone know of this and if she tries I will tell the lord, well that was it, other than that seems like they have a nice array of items but the environment itself could use improvement. read more

I love this store. I come here for all my spiritual supplies. Candles, incense, crystals, and more. Everyone who works there is very nice and informative. They have a nice selection of whatever your looking for and they also have a small library, which i think is awesome. During the summer they have an outdoor garden sitting area also for reading or meditating. Sometimes they offer classes as well. The crystals i get are really cool and they have a sweet cat that walks around the store minding its business... Lol. Its definitely something fun to do on a rainy day or if your bored. I always set a budget but always leave with more than i intended. Lol. What can i say! Smh! If your in the area its worth stopping by. The prices are reasonable and I'm sure you'll find something. This is a locals favorite from when I used to live in the area. It being one of the longest running metaphysical stores in the 757, I sought it out in hopes to find some goods for enlightenment. The staff ask that you sanitize your hands once you enter which I appreciate. They are practicing social distancing as well, limiting the number of patrons in the store. The place is large with a vast amount of materials including jewelry, books, and clothing. I saw a spider friend climbing around a display case too. I wish they had events going on because I want to hang out in the garden. I would have liked to have seen less dust on their products which places me to feel that business may be slow? Or there's something I am unaware of. Overall, though it may be in need upgrades, they will most likely have what you need. read more

AWFUL customer experience. This place tried to STEAL my rings TO RESELL them! They kept my rings for over five weeks. I came in and called multiple times throughout the five weeks. They lied stating that their "jeweler" would be fixing them. Fast forward, 5 weeks later and nothing has been done to the rings at all. They were hoping I forgot about the rings so they could resell them. I finally had a friend go to pick them up. She had to make multiple trips because they actually took my rings out of the store to some unknown location!! SHAME ON THIS COMPANY!! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!! I have been coming here fit a couple of years now my experience yesterday has me rethinking my decision of ever coming back. I came in yesterday & grabbed about $35 worth of items i get to the register there is an older lady working. I hand her a $100 bill, she looks & says she doesn't have enough change. I asked what did she have because i would have just doubled up on everything i had picked up. She says she only has a couple of 20's & "loose" change. I tell her I'm going to run across the street to get change & she says "okay". I come back literally a few moments later there is a closed sign i try to wave get down to get her attention being that i JUST left & said i was going to get change she waved me away. Finally, she comes to the door, doesn't open it & proceeded to say that's they close at 8.. it wasn't 8. When i tell her it's not 8 now the issue is she shut the register down & can't ring it up. I tell her i have $40 she can just keep the change & hand me my items. Now the issue is that she put all the stuff i had pick up back on the shelf. These folks are constantly making improvements to the shop. There's some demolition going on in the back so they can extend the community garden, and social patio in the yard. The privacy fence was extended down Lynn St and those old rotted huts were removed for a better view. Newly built his & hers bathrooms, new fixtures in the retail space and community kitchen and all kinds of new classes and things going on there. If you haven't been by the shop in a while or are new to the area, check it out! Get a tour, talk to the volunteer staff, and you can even get involved. I'm throwing a High Tea there on February 14th myself. Free to participate, just bring your saucer and tea cup. When you have just about everything, it's not hard to treat a store like a museum but browse away, like I do! I always find an item or two for my jewelry box or my home. I support local artisans and Mystic Moon has tons of items on consignment from people who volunteer, hang out and work there! Recently I purchased a hand-blown glass rose pendant and some Dia Da Los Muertos statues that were fairly inexpensive and unique. Their annual Beltane - May Moon Festival is right around the corner and is fast approaching. I've been going since the inaugural kick off and it's always a good time, I never miss it! Went to participate in a drum circle, felt more like an outcast being the new guy. The only people that would talk to me were people taking money from me. Mystic Moon is by far the place I love most in Hampton roads for shopping and community. Now it is a store where you can find unique gifts, beatiful clothing, and fantastic locally made goods. But Mystic Moon is so much more then a store its a home to any openminded, kind, seeker who wants community and friendship. The owner Debbie welcomes everyone with open arms and an open heart. Stop by enjoy browsing, grab a cup of coffee and read a book from their little onsite library, or come by Friday nights for dancing and drumming. It is a place that will call you back time and again. They also hold special events and festivals both on and off site. Check them out. Stop in pet a cat as they have two shop cats Luna and Catniss. Mystic Moon used to be one of those unique stores that I enjoyed going to, but it seems that their quality in items has decreased. The store is in need of updating or else a location change. Their crystals/rocks are all very processed and some do not look genuine. They have items marked up there that I have found at major retail stores for less. I asked how the tarot readings work (because I wanted to get one but there was no sign up sheet or anything to wait for one/the reader was busy with other clients so I wasn't going to interrupt her) and the employee kept saying "what are you talking about" rudely multiple times before she told me she would tell their reader I wanted a reading. I left without getting one because the energy in the store felt weird after that interaction. The one positive is the kitties in the store who give you lots of cuddles and purrs. Overall I had an unwelcoming experience and do not feel comfortable going back. The energy feels very off for a metaphysical/spiritual store. read more

Ownership claims that they do not welcome negative energy or drama yet plenty is caused by even the ownership themselves. They do not wish to be bothered with complaints at all which makes it very difficult to correct the problem at all. The amount of nepotism is unreal here! If you are family, a close friend and truly pagan you can get away with anything even if you are the one at fault. That being said, when you are told that you are disrespectful and a troublemaker and have not done anything inherently wrong and are expected to take responsibility for your actions; that is when the hypocrisy steps in. If you are banned be prepared that other members of their community to give you hateful glares and to mutter things under their breath at you. And also be prepared to be mercilessly slandered even by those who are part of the community yet had nothing to do with what got you banned in the first place and they truly know nothing about what really happened. Be prepared to be mocked and instigated. Also be prepared to be spoken down to from an elevated platform like you are a worthless, meaningless dog. And all this will continue until you earn the owners trust and respect, which more than likely will never happen if your sex is male, because she doesn't favor the males very well. But she'll do just fine with you if you are female. So what if you are gay or even identify as agender! Were you born male? If so, then you are automatically more of a problem. If something happens it's more than likely your fault if you are male. I'll personally be seeking out legal representation in the near future. Trust is earned and respect is given; this is true! I first attended Mystic Moon circles in the last century. I spent years trying to become a member of the community. I donated many good books to the library, bought a lot of clothing and trinkets, tried hard to become a member of the community. I was complemented on how I gave so much and asked nothing in return... I was simply asking to be a member of the community. Geese, couldn't get that. I was very sick the last couple of years. I am in my 60's. I had to sell my house to a "flipper" because it had black mold. I asked for help. I needed work done so that it could be sold, and I needed help loading what I wanted to take. There was a lot of good furniture to be given away. I could barely walk. Here's the help I got.... One young man, a "solid" member of the community, (which I never seemed to be accepted into). spent a few months trying to get me to take temporary lodging in NC while he and his friends fixed it up. Huh. Laws are, if I let you stay there, I'd have to pay a lawyer to get you out. He did do some work, which I paid him for, which left the place in worse shape than when he got there, (of course, because I wouldn't move out). He claims to be a licensed master plumber. He also claims that he has no idea where his mother is, and that and this about his absentee father. He's a scam artist, I was sick enough, physically that he could have had the impression that I believed all that he said till the end, when I called a legitimate business, saying "take this." I did get a family of "moving helpers." They showed up to take what they wanted. And left, and then ignored my calls when I wanted help loading what I had left, (after their take). There is a community there. If you want it, and if you are accepted, stay away from me and mine. read more

Easy to see from the road, and always ample parking. When I walk in, I am always greeted by friendly staff and adorable kitties. They have a great selection of incense, herbs, spell kits, oils, candles, crystals, and such. Also jewelry, clothing, handmade items, and just lots of fascinating things! A great store to explore for the open-minded. The prices also seem fair, There is also an working altar with candles and incense and stuff. I myself am not Pagan, but I still love coming in here and feeling the good energy. The lady at the counter told me about events held at the store-- weekly drum circles, moon ceremonies, potlucks, etc. I would totally love to check it out, but I work nights. :( Maybe one day when I get a new job or something... UPDATE!: Was able to check out the Monday Night Drum Circle. It was a blast! It takes place in a beautiful garden around the back of the store, with flowers and a little pond and faerie statues and such. A hidden gem of tranquility amongst bustling Military Highway! The drumming started off slow, with just a couple of people drumming a simple beat. As time passed, more and more people began to drum, and a more complex and energetic beat developed. People started to dance around the fire, and the atmosphere was just charged with good energy and excitement. People of all ages were present. I danced too and got totally into it. I never dance, but here it just felt natural to do so. The sand inside the drum circle felt cool and soothing on my feet, and the fire was warm and inviting, slowly drawing me to the center. My husband participated in the drumming, utilizing one of the public drums Mystic Moon provides. He was shy at first, but found himself consumed by the beat. A woman threw some herbs into the fire while reading off a paper, and threw the paper into the fire as well. The fire turned blue and the scent of the burning herbs was divine. We left invigorated and looking forward to the next time we get to do this again. It really was a lot of fun! read more

I must admit when I first visited this shop I didn't get the warm and fuzzy. No one even acknowledge our presence. No hello...nothing. My boys and I wandered around for a few minutes, but we didn't feel welcomed so we left. I don't know what possessed me to go back, but I returned months later. The atmosphere was very different this time (more welcoming, the staff actually asked if we needed help, said hello, talked to us about the items in the shop, etc.) and now we try to stop by the shop a few times a year. Mystic Moon wasn't always welcomed in the area. In fact, when they first opened years ago, the people in the neighborhood protested and threatened the owner and shop. Although, the place look like it could use some sprucing up, they offer everything pagan from color candles, fairy dust, books on witchcraft, incense, palm reading, crystals, jewelry, dream catchers, herbs and they offer drum circles on Mondays. read more

I've been visiting this store every year when I'm in town, since before they moved to the new location. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and soon you'll be a friend if you're open to it. The store is well-stocked, and I find new things every time I go in. Despite what one review said, the store is NOT nearly all candles. I've been in there many times, and I can tell you that the store does have both new and used books (but how better to find those older out-of-print titles?), oils, herbs, bath items, salts, jewelry, clothing and costuming pieces (some of it hand-made and some from well-known companies), altar wares, wind chimes, tarot cards, runes, bumper stickers (I wish I was there now, since I need to replace one I bought there ten years ago), patches, post cards and cards, decorative boxes and furniture... In fact, Mystic Moon supports many local artisans by taking their wares on consignment, including wood-burned and painted pieces, jewelry, and clothing. The new store location has another great advantage over the old site. The garden in the back (where drum circles are now held) is fabulous and much better than the drum circles that used to be held in the parking lot at the old store site. It's a very calming area, and I like to take half an hour to walk the route around and sit in the circle when I visit the store, even if I won't be around for a drum circle on my trip. It may not look like much from the outside (which I maintain is more because of the area the store is in than any fault in particular of the business owners), but the inside and the gardens are well worth the visit! My ONLY real complaint about Mystic Moon? The lack of a web store! I don't get down there often enough for my tastes. I would adore it if they opened a web store, so I could browse and order online when I'm not in town. read more

I had what was supposed to be a cold reading yesterday. I was very unimpressed I am really not sure this woman is a psychic I believe her name is Sheila. She kept asking me questions when what I wanted was to see what she saw about all aspects of my life and several of the things she said were way off and I did not want the cards and she use the cards without asking. Don't think I will return to that shop they have some beautiful things in there but the reader I had I do not believe she was real. So I guess it's like they say for entertainment purposes only. To me they told me it was $25 for 30 minutes to charge me 35 and that was the biggest waste of $35 I think I've ever spent. Sorry to be negative about it but it's how I felt when I left there I didn't feel good I didn't feel like she really told me anything I didn't already know. So I would not recommend going to a rear there visit the shop because they do have beautiful things but be leery of the people who say they are readers because I think I got one of the fakes.
