I visited this consignment shop a few months ago with my children. The furniture and decor were nice, hence the 2 star rating. However, the staff seemed very standoffish with a woman of color... Another customer walked in that shared their complexion and she seemed to have a friendlier welcoming experience. I actually even helped the customer with her design vision for the furniture and shared a few laughs. Even when I inquired about renting a booth and consigning there, I seemed to be bothering them. Came here on a Saturday and place was jumping! Very accommodating staff, positive vibes, but most importantly AWESOME stuff!!! Great things at more than fair pricing plus they do great sales too!!! After a few visits, I won't be returning. First, if you are searching for previously owned higher end home decor or an awesome vintage item this is not the place. Mrs Pinkadot is more of a flea market like than it is a consignment shop. I found the few nice-ish items that were there to be overpriced as well. If you like looking through lots of odds and ends for a possible find than you may enjoy taking a look. However, On my last visit there, I too found the person at the register to be very rude and even insulting and disrespectful. Not the way to build a loyal or returning customer base. Urban Castaways it is not. I also recommend taking a trip to The Velvet Shoestring in Williamsburg. read more

I really was looking forward to visiting this shop. My first visit was this past Saturday. It was their 1st sidewalk sale of the season so the staff was busy; most were friendly and helpful. I purchased a vintage dresser, night stand, and some other small items for my daughter. All told, I spent $330 dollars. Unfortunately after my visit to the store today, and after speaking with the owner, Joan, I will never go back. Joan was rude and insulting. These kind of shops, frankly, are a dime a dozen in this area, so treating ALL your customers with kindness is paramount. I will take my money elsewhere. I found the owners of The Yard, right next door, to be very friendly! They have one-of-kind pieces of furniture and guarantee their work on any painted pieces. read more

I walked in this store and loved everything about. The only thing is the person at the front desk was un pleasant. She had spoke to the two ladies in the store(white) but when I spoke to her she ignored me on purpose! I said "hello" to her again wanting to believe she couldn't hear me but again she said nothing. I walked out disappointed and hurt because I wanted to love this store but I believe my skin color caused the lady not to want my business. :( I will never go to this store again read more

Mrs. Pinkadot is a great little shop located in Ghent! This place literally has a little bit of everything from furniture to jewelry, kitchen wares and clothes! Each section of the shop belongs to a specific artist or vendor and it's all housed under one roof! I've been there a handful of times and there is always something new to look at and some great find that I have to have! This store is my number 1 stop when I hit the Granby street "funky alley" of resale, vintage and antique stores. It's also a great place to sell on consignment your stuff or your dead relatives treasures. Joan runs a tight ship and is savvy in the game but she aims to please, is fair minded and always a pleasure to talk to. They have layaway which is wonderful for the big ticket items. Her knowledge of vintage collectables is amazing. The scenery is always changing at Mrs. Pinkadot's, it's never the same, and geared toward the seasons which keeps me coming back. I have been to this store numerous times and have some things on consignment in her store. Joan and her employees are very friendly and fair to their customers. Her merchandise is of high quality and very reasonably priced. It moves fast. You can look at something, then walk away and 5 minutes later it can be sold. Knowing Joan and doing business with her I can say she would never be unfair or consider skin color as a determination on who to sell to or do business with. This is a popular and busy store, you may have to wait a few minutes while another customer is being waited on just like any other busy store. I am disappointed at a couple reviews but realize if they knew Joan they would realize what I am saying is true. So, I give Mrs. Pinkadot 5 stars and if I could give 10, I would. I pass by other places to go there because of her kindness and fair prices. Her shop is beautiful and clean. I like to support people like her. Also, go look at some of the other shops around town and you will see the merchandise there for months and even a year because they are so expensive, no one buys, they just look because its unaffordable.
