I called this company and spoke to the owner Dave who calmly and rationally explained to me that it could be a host of things causing my hard drive problems. He came to my house ( during pandemic, unlike the other shop) and fixed my issues without killing me on the price and explained everything in a easy to understand way. Story to follow. I just recently upgraded my own PC. I wanted to build my friend a PC utilizing my old GPU and so I bought all the other components myself (CPU, Mobo, RAM, SSD). I brought all the parts to Mercury to put together for me, mostly because I'm lazy and also because I feel like I do an awful aesthetic job when it comes to cable management. He sold me on the two parts I was missing, both the PC case and the PSU. I was fine with that. He charged me three or four hours of his time and I was also fine with that. Until the PC was put to use. My friend had all sorts of issues with it in practice. It kept crashing when playing games, variably, within two hours. We troubleshooted it remotely since I'm a computer guy. Eventually, I had to take things into my own hands and received the PC to troubleshoot myself. After 3.5 days of troubleshooting, running stress tests, analyzing crash dump and log files, I find the issue. See the pictures, attached. My findings: The GPU driver was never installed, but instead the default Windows Update driver was installed. None of the BIOS drivers had been installed. This meant that plugging speakers in for sound didn't work either, among other things. I notice some strange readings while gaming on the 12V rails coming out of the PSU going to the GPU, dipping down under 11.4V at times. One of the only components that I didn't supply. The reason for all the crashes? After doing a LOT of software troubleshooting, I decided to open up the case to take a look at the guts. There are two PCIe power ports to the GPU. Mercury Computers plugged both of them in on the same power rail. I was furious.

I've been to Shoreline PC a few times in the past four years to have laptop issues resolved. I've…read morealways found them to be honest, helpful, and accurate in their pricing estimates. The one time a laptop was damaged beyond its repair value, Shoreline PC simply said it would be better to replace than to pay for the extensive repairs (moral of the story: don't let your dog knock your laptop off the dining room table). Repairs have been done within a matter of days, never taking longer or costing more than I was told. Last time I was in the store to pick up a repaired laptop, one of the staff was helping an older gentleman with a PC. The customer wasn't able to get online at home, and his internet provider insisted the problem was with the PC. Shoreline PC hooked up the guy's PC, connected to the internet, and helped him determine that his PC was fine. Then, the staff advised him he was welcome to stay as long as he needed to check his email, go online, etc. The customer asked how much he owed them for their time, and the technician said, "No charge for this," then advised the man on how to deal with his internet provider, which service he should switch to, etc. Knowledgeable staff, reasonable pricing, great customer service.

After examining the computer, he called me and explained what the problem was and what would need to be done to rectify things. Jack is an honorable, honest man and business owner. I would recommend him to anyone for an experience that doesn't frustrate you, anger you, surprise you with additional charges or overcharge you. That is saying a lot in today's business climate where I feel I cannot trust anyone's estimate any more and must do some kind of investigative work to see if I am receiving a fair quote.
