STAY AWAY FROM !!! --- In May/April 2024 brought in a laptop to go over a problem I was having. A younger Asian employee was very nice and agreed to look at the problem which would have taken 5 minutes to demonstate. The owner Dan came in and after some words became very rude and unfriendly. He tried to get a full repair ticket going and I objected saying I was only wanting his worker to look at a problem for a couple of minutes. I had just purchased a computer and monitor from the owner several weeks before and he could not even extend a courtesy to look at the problem or let his worker look at it. I will never use this shop again unless Dan is gone. He even gave me an F... bomb as I left the shop. I tried to be nice but this man has real anger issues and is miserable to deal with! read more

I went in to the shop thinking I was going to need to purchase a new computer, but John suggested I consider upgrading to an SSD instead. That's what I ended up doing--half the cost and my otherwise-fine computer now runs much faster. The data transfer was also very quick and smooth. Really excellent experience overall. read more

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! Nick left my home this morning after providing great service to get our printer/scanner/copier connected and working both via wireless and USB. Nick was friendly, helpful, and patient - especially appreciated since he had to come to our home twice because we lost our printer power cord! We moved to Waterford less than a week ago. Winter/spring 2019/2020, Brought my Lenovo Yoga into Lou's for repair of touch pad/mousepad. It was the high end version, think it's called a Carbon/ about $1.75K. Full function laptop with touchscreen that converts to tablet with with screen that folds flat 180 degrees. Not an inexpensive computer. About 30 days after dropping computer off, got a voicemail from Lou that repair work was complete and cost would be $300 which was reasonable for work done, no problem there. Although, I had recently become unemployed and had no income. Explained this to owner, and he asked when I would be able to pay for repair. To which I responded 1-2 months. He did not communicate this was a problem. When I went to retrieve computer and pay for repairs within time agreed to with Lou. I was told by a worker there that my computer had been trashed as I did not retrieve and pay for within 30 days of dropping off. When I asked for Lou, I was told by the worker (about 5'5", 240lbs, bearded) that Lou was no longer the owner. His tone was not friendly, and in all honesty escalated my tone. That, and the fact that my property was either destroyed or re-sold for a profit. Or they still had it but we're not giving back. My computer was of current and feature packed. So, it's unlikely they simply threw it away. Was caught off guard that this happened, and was told by the guy that it's clearly stated in repair contract, "that un-retrieved items will be destroyed or re-sold to cover the cost of repair." Well, they most likely resold for a handsome profit. Although very unhappy about the experience, I offered an opportunity for them to make things right in some way. The guy said I could buy one of their computers. At this point I had to leave as the obtuse and rude worker was being confrontational, and it was supposedly "his" shop now. I'm a lifelong resident of Mystic, and I get it. Things happen sometimes. But, operating as a small business in a small community should warrant a bit more Tact by the business and its owner, certainly its employees. Will never return to this business again, or even send someone I don't like to this store, much less recommend to family or a friend. I suspect that sooner or later they'll steal the wrong computer from the wrong person. Or just continue to "jack" the nice people of Mystic until it's time to move on to another town. read more

Lou was able to come to my home about 24 hours after I called him. He was/is polite, professional and didn't make me feel like an idiot while he fixed the mistakes I made. He had my computer up and running in under an hour and even fixed a few other things that were making my computer slow and me a cranky human being. Thank you Lou! I brought in my mid 2014 iMac which had totally stopped working. Had previously worked with Apple support people several times to resurrect it and was finally told that it was a hardware failure. Taking a chance, I brought it to Lou's Computers to see if it was repairable and cost-effective to do so.With unbelievable perseverance and effort on their part, they actually repaired it at a very reasonable cost. Walking into Lou's Computers is like walking into a kinder, gentler time when neighborhood businesses offered service w a smile...incredibly reasonable prices...and a place you just wouldn't mind hanging out at! To give it a max of 5 stars does not reflect the level of expertise and honesty that Lou and his help give out....the big box stores could take a lesson from Lou on the basics of dealing w customers...be honest...be kind...be smart...and offer a reasonable price... My advice is to go there even if nothing is wrong w your computer......to be in the company of a businessman from years gone by is worth the trip... read more

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE (or should I say "virus")! Worst service I've EVER experienced in my life. They haven't a clue as to what they're doing. My computer got a virus and I brought it to Lou's on a Saturday. I was charged $130 upfront and told that it would be cleaned and optimized. When I brought it, the only issue I was having was that the computer was crashing with a blue screen and then restarting, it was slow, and a trojan kept coming up. Other than that, it was functioning OK. On Monday afternoon, they called and I picked it up - I was told it was all set and optimized to run perfectly. I brought it home and they had made my computer non-functioning. I could not start my browser as it kept crashing, and I tried another browser - and that one had tons of pop-up ads flashing (I'd never had that problem before), plus every time I tried to set my home page, it went back to facebook.com. Moments later even that browser wouldn't start. The computer crashed with the blue screen within minutes. I brought it back with a list of 15 items that were now plaguing the computer, that I never had before. I make my living from a computer, so I had already lost 2 days work. I called them Tuesday, they said they needed another day. I called Wednesday and the very very young man made the snarky comment that they wanted to prevent my coming in again with a list, so they needed more time. On Friday I called again - so now from the beginning, they had my computer seven days. I was told on Friday that they couldn't fix it, that they needed to reload the operating system and I would need to reinstall everything. I explained that my faith in them wasn't strong, since they had already damaged my computer and that I wanted to bring it elsewhere. I told them that I was very upset that I had paid $130 for virus removal and they made it worse. The young man said, I quote, "Your financial problems are no concern of mine. Your computer was loaded with add-ons that most people don't use." SO in one fell swoop, I was blamed for their own ineptness and his utterances regarding my concerns re: the payment made clear that this establishment does not care one iota about its customers. I told him that since they made the situation worse, I thought i should have my money back. It was a nightmare. He agreed and then raised his voice again about my add-ons. I had to repeat twice that I wanted the money back. I received my computer and money back, took it to another place locally in Quaker Hill where a couple (adults, NOT teens) run the store, and within four hours, the computer was fixed perfectly and running like a dream, for only $90 - paid AFTER they demonstrated their fixes to me. read more

Awesome local business!!!! Always manages to solve my problems--sometimes just with some advice over the phone! Also--sells all those weird computer accessories you may need at the drop of a hat in the local neighborhood! The alternative? Drive 25 minutes to best buy and get sucked into the black hole of consumerism and leave with all sorts of other goods you really can't afford. I had a very pleasant experience here a few days ago. My Asus ROG laptop was crashing (conveniently after the 1 year warranty period) and prior to that I was having battery issues. I brought it in and Lou took it and ran diagnostics on it and within a couple days he told me what was wrong. He charges (if memory serves me right) $45 to figure out the problem which goes towards the repair fee if you opt to have it repaired there. Also I was charged nothing up front and paid only after the repairs were completed. So I needed a new hard drive and he will install what they have there or whatever you bring in. Once my Samsung 850 EVO arrived I brought it in at 9:30 a.m. and by 2:30 p.m. it was fixed. They were all polite and professional every step of the way and will allow you to keep your computer there up to 3 months if you need time to save up for whatever it is your computer may need. I will bring my other laptop in the near future as well and would absolutely recommend this place to others. read more

I also had a bad experience with them, as they weren't able to get my laptop cleaned of a virus the first time it took 2 trips and was charged over $120, I'll be taking my laptop elsewhere next time. read more
