Mystryde is Barry's bootcamp for less intense people! I've come here a few times and I love power stryde. It's an interval based class but you use your own body weight more than actual weights(only kettle balls here). I definitely prefer this class to Barry's because it's a more go at your own pace atmosphere. Erin has been my favorite teacher so far. She gives good instructions and has an awesome floor workout (burpees, planks, squats). My abs were definitely sore! I also had Becca and she was excellent as well. The studio is fine but the mats are kinda gross. They should update them... Also switching stations is a bit confusing because the mat stations aren't numbered. Some teachers will have you pick someone to switch with which makes the process much easier. I don't like running for long periods of time so I didn't like stryde plus core. It was literally 35 min of running and 5 min of core. Most classes are 50 min but some are 45 which cuts things short. I highly recommend taking a class here! You will leave happy :). read more

I always enjoy this venue! The one I went to was on 226 Causeway, but it doesn't seem to have a Yelp page. I completed the full body and HIIT workout for 45 minutes and although I feel beat by the heat outside, I feel refreshed and thankful for this start to the morning. Doesn't get much better than MyStryde class vibes. Whether you're an avid runner or fresh to the pavement beginner, you can find something to work for in every class. MyStryde has taken the necessary precautions and is following safe procedures for their reopening, so that we, as guests, feel safe and can focus our energy on getting the most out of our workout. After three marathons and countless road races, my knees had had enough. So over the last several years, I've been cycling, hiking, and doing low impact cardio to get my heart pumping and save my joints. However, I've been slowly inching my way back into the running pond, and I knew MyStryde would be an ideal point of entry. I was right! For someone like me who needs a good kick in the pants to start a running routine, the MyStryde class was perfect. You can go at your own pace and challenge yourself per your comfort level. But what's really great is that the atmosphere really motivates you to push yourself, which of course, helps you grow as a stronger runner. Everyone is focused on their own run, so you don't have to feel self-conscious. In that way, it becomes a very individualized workout. My main beef: the sound system was awful. I could barely hear the instructor, and I had to guess where her cues were coming in. I didn't know whether I was supposed to be sprinting, recovering, or what, but I improvised when I couldn't hear the combinations. And one more small thing - the music could be better. It was mostly clubby cuts, which I like, but these weren't really up my alley. All in all, though, this was a great way to get moving and feel inspired. read more

MyStryde is an amazing addition to the growing number of fitness studios in Boston. I am a total running junkie but during the colder months, my motivation to get outside and train is low. I personally struggle with logging those miles if its not shorts/tank top weather. The staff, instructors, and the owner are so accommodating and you can tell they want you to have the best experience possible. They pay attention to detail and even without taking a class, you'll notice their customer service is top notch. The classes are truly welcoming to every level runner and even if you HATE running, I suggest you pop in for a class. I promise you'll walk out with a different outlook. Plus, the Woodway treadmills are heaven. I'm excited to see how my own training and races will improve by incorporating these classes into my routine. MyStryde definitely has me hooked! read more

Fun and encouraging environment with a killer workout. You are given pace cards and can decide what pace level suits you. There is no pressure to go as fast as anyone else, and you are able to challenge yourself individually. I did the bootcamp class with Rebecca and it was great! We did a series of fast running intervals, hill work, and even sprints in dynamic mode. We also did some floor work (burpees, pushups, single leg squats, plank). All around great workout with an instructor who clearly knew about running form, injury prevention, and how to beat treadmill boredom! I will be back to try out Stryde and Endurance classes! read more

I tried this gym for the first time last night through classpass and I had been really looking forward to the class. I'm a casual runner and have been taking a few months off, but wanted to give this gym a try as I find treadmill running quite boring at a "Regular" gym. I spin regularly, so was excited to see that this type of workout was being billed as a spinning for runners. I certainly did not feel like that was the case. Perhaps I took the wrong class, but the interval, bootcamp style class was not what I was expecting. As mentioned by another user, the space feels way too small to safely accommodate that type of workout. The music was not loud or current, and the microphone quality of the instructor was not good. Being new, I expected some sort of run down of how the treadmills worked, but that didn't happen and I found myself struggling with the treadmill and getting it going once it was my turn to run. The instructor never noticed I was struggling and not running, I had my hand raised for about 30 seconds until my neighbor finally offered to help me. I'm giving this a three because it's very possible that this just is not the workout for me. read more

I like MyStryde more than Barry's! I ran just over 3 miles at MyStryde (including some walking warmup) and at a Barry's class a few days later ran only 2 miles. I pretty solidly followed the guidelines for an intermediate runner at both. You get a full 60 minutes at MyStryde compared to two 20 minute rounds at Barry's. MyStryde also felt safer and was either cooler or had better circulation. Becca was a great instructor and very friendly! read more

Rebecca is excellent, amazing workout truly, don't hesitate to try. Great cardio and full body. I like how she does 4 minutes of cardio then 4 minutes of muscle conditioning. Its truly a Baby Barry's Bootcamp! read more

Normally I reserve this account for reviewing diet cola in the Boston area. It's a fun account that brings joy to my 6 coworkers who read it but the infringement committed upon my house by this gym will not be endured. Let me first start by saying I have never been inside this gym and after what happened to me I have zero intentions of even walking past it. I was walking to my car this morning, which is parked in a PRIVATE lot in the North End, to find a flyer for My Stryde tucked neatly under my windshield. This alone would've irked me slightly but upon closer examination I discovered this was no ordinary flyer... MY STRYDE PUT A FREAKING STICKER ON MY CAR. When I tried to remove it it instantly began to leave white goop all over the windshield. How am I supposed to explain this to American Honda Financial when I go to turn in my lease? Am I expected to get down on my hands and knees and scrub this crap off myself? Or if I take you up on your offer does it come with a complimentary car wash for my troubles? I was literally vandalized by a gym in an attempt to convince me to buy services from them. This might be the worst marketing campaign since Mountain Dew's "Dub The Dew". Seriously My Stryde, did you do this to other cars? How many people have you convinced to come run on your treadmills as opposed to the ones across the street by destroying their property? Also, I have carefully reviewed Yelp's Content Guidelines and seven years ago I thought about taking the LSAT so I am 100% positive I am in no violation of these guidelines, so if you even attempt to have this review taken down I will have your name plastered all over Change.org for violating my First Amendment rights. Whoever did this to my car, you're mad at your Dad, not me. Orange Theory Fitness is a better alternative IMO. read more

Tried this studio through class pass. Loved it so much that I have continued to come back. I was super nervous to go because I am not a fast runner and everyone seemed to be training for the Boston marathon. This ended up being a non issue the staff were super encouraging and you can absolutely go at your own pace. The music is great and the dim lighting was a lot of fun. The bathroom/changing room is a little weird just because you have to wait till the class before is done before you can go in so I felt a little rushed. Can't wait till my next class. read more

After many months I finally got to one of their classes. My friend and I chose the Stryde + Core class taught by Becca. We really enjoyed the class and found it surprisingly challenging. The studio makes you feel like you are being let into Boston's best kept fitness secret/group. I've been coming to MyStryde 1-2 times a month since they've opened. They've evolved from pure running focused classes to more bootcamp / core / strengthen training focused styles, but the run only classes are still my favorite +Woodway treadmills are really easy on the knees. Also they cover up the time on the treadmills so the class doesn't become a tedium of counting down the time +60 minute endurance classes. There are 2 - Saturday mornings at 8:45/9, and Thursday afternoons at 6. You can really log miles with those! +the classes are never monotonous and really helps to break any boredom from running on your own. There's typically a warm up, a couple of different drills (e.g. hills, varying paces), and a couple of sprints to end the class -The space is awkward if you need to change before class. There's the entrance where students wait for classes to begin, the studio itself, and bathrooms / changing rooms in the back of the studio. Which means you would need to walk past in session classes if you need to change beforehand or shower after read more

This place was awesome! Came here on a Tuesday night for the 7:00pm class and it was GREAT. I am training for the Boston Marathon so this is a wonderful indoor work out on the nights when I am not sure I'll get a work out in. It was so great and I will for sure be back! I've been looking forward to visiting this new North End studio for a while - but realized it's not my cup of tea. I think the space would be good for regular treadmill classes, but I went to the class that alternates between floor and treadmill, interval style. I'm giving this studio one star because I find the studio to be unsafe. The mats are set up inches away from the treadmills. The space is packed. I walked in the studio, signed a waiver, and then within the first 5 mins someone fell off a treadmill - LOL (luckily not me). Luckily no one was hurt. But the facts are that ppl are running high speeds sprints with other ppl doing push-ups at the foot of the treadmills. My face was literally inches away from the foot of the treadmill. The treadmills are fun and bouncy, but it is dark they are hard to jump on and off of compared to other models I've used. Also the handles have no grip and are slippery with a little sweat. If you don't care about safety concerns you will probably like this gym. As someone who split their leg open once at Crossfit - I'm a little more careful now. When ppl are being pushed to fatigue I think safety is important and this place doesn't seem to have considered that. I suggest the owners take out a few treadmills in favor of safety. read more

Just went for my first Stryde this morning and it was a killer workout! I've been running for years and have several marathons, half marathons, and triathlons under my belt, but the class still tested my limits. Unlike spinning, there is no "cheating" in running; you can't just turn the resistance down to zero. You will work HARD, but don't let that scare you off. The instructor was constantly encouraging everyone to work at their own pace so even if you are just starting out, you are free to power walk if you need a breather. Other miscellaneous details- they have towels and showers, the room is nice and cool, and there is a cooler for you to refill your water bottle. read more

The studio itself is gorgeous, and the area with the treadmills is very spacious. Love the treadmills -- they're my favorite type, since they don't hurt your legs as much as running outside/other treadmills. I'm a slow runner, so in a 45 minute class I ran about 4 miles -- those who are faster could probably do 5+. The workout honestly reminded me of the Barry's workout (same treadmills, and intervals including hills and sprints) without the weights. Overall, I might not make the trek in the summer when the weather is nice and I can run outside, but might do more once it gets colder for a nice cardio boost. The showers are also gorgeous, and there's shampoo and conditioner and body wash and hair dryers. read more

I took my first class at MyStryde this week. I signed up through ClassPass as a way to get another day of cardio in outside of spin classes. I hate running on the treadmill at the gym and really like the structure of signing up to run, push yourself, and be held accountable by the instructor and other runners. The studio was clean and sleek. The instructor's cues were clear and specific so I could keep up, and she was helpful with her corrections. The Woodway treadmills felt like running on a cloud. I got a stress fracture last winter from treadmill running and felt no discomfort at all yesterday. I will definitely be going back. read more

I took the Power Stryde class on Tuesday morning and loved it, which is shocking considering I hate running. This class is broken up into running on the treadmill and body weight work off the treadmills. I think we switched back and forth every 4 minutes. I loved the constant switch up so I wasn't hating my life running on the treadmill for 20 minutes straight. I left feeling like I got a great workout and I will definitely be returning. read more

MyStryde has a fantastic studio- great location in the North End, nice lobby and changing rooms with showers, great lighting and music, and the highest quality treadmills. Only positive experiences with all of the instructors, and less intimidating from a culture standpoint than a place like Barry's Bootcamp. absolutely love this place! was hooked after my first class. it's clean, the music is on point, and the instructors make you feel welcome, comfortable, and try to understand your personal needs and goals. this place is great for runners of all levels, and the workout is absolutely killer! the lights are typically kept pretty low, which adds a cool vibe to the run and also really makes you focus on yourself and your run (rather than looking at what other people are doing). there are also showers and towels for those who wish to rinse off. read more
