    Nutella cake

Stopped in for dessert because this place is uber cute. I loved the decor but the dessert and service was just okay. Had the Nutella cake and while Nutella is always delicious, the cake was hard and nothing special.

Good food. Good ambiance. Good wine.

What a cute, amazing spot amongst many excellent dining choices in the Melasaña/Chueca areas. Both me and my partner had a great experience. Good service. Excellent food. Wonderful ambiance. The location is beautiful and amidst all the wonderful nightlife of the area. We had the fried veggies to start, and it was ok...until you took in the sauce and soy that came with it + wine = made it AMAZING! I had the tuna tataki and it was well prepared with a great sea salt addition plus soy, pepper, and tomato to make it amazing. My partner had a great salmon dish. The wine was great, and affordable. Overall, great experience! Love it! Keep up the great work!

Terrible experience. Food was really disgusting, cold and not made properly. Would never recommend anyone to visit this place.

I visited on a rainy Thursday night so there wasn't a large crowd and I grabbed an open seat at the end of the bar. A friendly gentleman gave me a menu and asked what I was interested in. When I mentioned the Old Fashioned, he advised that it was an Amaro-based version without the usual bourbon/whiskey spirit. I noticed a Brooklyn and commented that I sometimes made those at home. Very politely he noted that if I was making them in the US, it wasn't with Amer Picon, which isn't available in the US. He's right. So an actual, real Brooklyn it would be! I thoroughly enjoyed the Brooklyn. I also enjoyed some brief conversation with the bartender who was very good. The kind who uses the spoon or straw to taste each drink to ensure it was made properly. As I was paying my bill and mentioning to the gentleman who initially greeted me that I wanted to bring my business partners here later in the week, he wrote his phone number on a business card and told me to call him in advance as the bar got very busy when it wasn't raining. Turns out, this friendly man is Alberto the owner! Guess I didn't do quite as much research as I could have! I regret we weren't able to make a second visit to 1862 Dry Bar on this particular trip, but it is going to be my first stop next time I'm back in Madrid. Great vibe, excellent staff and a classy and friendly owner.

The menu has nice illustrations and drink descriptions, which I liked. We visited around 9 PM and had to wait ~30 minutes in line. This was mostly bad luck, because I could tell we just missed getting in and there were open seats when we left around 10:30 PM. We had two rounds of drinks. The Oriental Experience (18€) is really three drinks together, served in bowls and with similar consistency, but very different flavors. The flavors were interesting; I'm glad we tried it, but I might not order it again. I had the Stout (14€) which was a blend of sherry, date water, and stout beer. It tasted like it sounds -- a mix of wine and stout beer -- and it reminded me a bit of a chocolate wine I had once. Next time, I would just get a stout beer. Our second round was the Ultramarino and Native Roots (14€ each). They first was not that interesting. It said it "rested in a clay amphora which is submerged in sea water for 72 hours" but this seemed more like a gimmick than anything. The Native Roots was super interesting because it was made with roots, tuber cordial, and potato vodka. I liked it a lot because it was so unique. Service was fine, if a little slow and inattentive. I like that they refilled our chips.

It ended up being one of my favorite meals while I was in Madrid. We liked the menu so much we had a hard time narrowing down our choices so we got four (but three would have been a good portion size for us). The Taco Pekines was a duck taco on roti with cucumbers, radish, red onion, and hoisin sauce. This was one large taco that we cut in half. This was our favorite of the night! Our second favorite was the pork gyoza. It had a flavorful dipping sauce and excellent portion size. The other two were good as well. Vegetarian spring rolls and the chicken wings. Both with great portion sizes. They refilled our waters without us asking. I was surprised that they brought us water without us even asking. Another nice touch was the popcorn while we were looking over the menu. I can't forget to mention that we had cocktails that were great too. We had the Cuppa tea cocktail and Bacano and both were unique and thoughtful combinations of flavors.

Everyone must have been hung over from the night before. Or still sleeping. The die hard NYE revelers stay out until about 7 AM in this country. Not me. I can't hang. Overall, the cocktail menu has about 20 of the usual suspects: martini, strawberry daiquiri, mai tai, manhattan, sidecar, etc. No prices in the menu but expect to pay about 7,25 each. In other words, about half the price you'd pay at a cocktail bar in New York, so a major bargain for me. The sidecar was delicious, as was the whiskey sour. While not explicitly clear in the menu, this place will either create cocktails for you or let you create your own. Just ask. Desperately wanting paella across the street at La Barraca, the unoccupied waiter took the time to run across the street to check on availability, then again to make a reservation. Excellent customer service, though he was taken aback at my gesture of a small tip for his efforts, which he reluctantly accepted. Bottom line is there really aren't that many bars in Madrid dedicated specifically to cocktails, despite the size of the city. Consider this place a rarity. Other: Very classy decor. Cool music. Chill vibes. Free wifi zone. No food.
