Well, as it turns out this station is near the technology museum, so the station is has a very arty…read moreand technology feel about it. In fact, you will find that there are a number of metro stations that try to add some artistic flavour to it, though not all of them are like that. Yeah, I have to say that this is a pretty cool station to check out and have a look around. I certainly liked it.

I decided to write this review because this was my home Metro station and there isn't a Yelp site…read morefor the entire Metro system. The Arts et Metiers station is a minor Metro station because only one line runs through it. Many Metro stations have multiple lines running through them. When transferring to other Metro lines, do not exit the Metro system. There will be stairs and passageways to other connecting Metro lines within the station. If you leave, you'll have to pay again to re-enter the station. There are maps posted to help you figure out which line and which direction you want to go. London's Underground has maps which also tell you that stations that are serviced in each direction as well. This is something the Paris Metro should copy. Your ticket is good to take you anywhere in the system and works until you leave the Metro. Hang on to your ticket as you ride because once in a while, Metro employees will sometimes manually check tickets at the exits to the station to make sure you haven't jumped the gates. You can get on a train on a line with a letter for the line instead of a Metro subway car with a number of the line, but I think you have to leave the Metro station and re-enter with another ticket for the train. Plus, the trains do not run anywhere as often as the Metro cars. For example, there's a train that runs from Gard du St. Lazare to Gard du Nord, but it runs only every hour or so. When working the Metro ticket machines, there's a helpful button what makes everything on the video screen come up in English!

Ok this metro is sketchy and I would only go to it because I was going to play soccer at Le Five…read more(YES I KNOW IT'S FOOT IN FRANCE/THE EU - BUT I SAY SOCCER SO GET OVER IT). In general the station is kind of run down (although it doesn't smell too bad so 2 stars). There is not much to do in general in this area. There are not any interesting bars or restaurants that I have identified in the vicinity and I am not too keen in spending the time there to find out. I don't go past Jules Joffrin much... Marx Dormoy if I really want some authentic Asian food and don't feel like going to the 13th arrondisement. Porte de la Chapelle is at the edge of Paris an is a fairly uninteresting area with a lot of transport coming together (buses, trams, the metro, and the Périphérique highway). So you may end up here because you want to transfer to the tram or a bus... Back to the metro, on a side note there is a group of homeless people who like to hang out in the metro stations between Pigalle and La Chapelle and get wasted/pee everywhere/intimidate metro riders/smoke cigarettes. Many of the stations are deep so it's warm and I can understand the allure - but they could be a little more courteous with their use of the public stations. That being said, some of them are very nice and deserve a smile and some change if you have it. But seriously, the peeing and smoking need to stop... My recommendation is that the sooner you can get off of the 12 the better when you are heading north - especially in the evening hours. Plus the above ground walk up through Montmartre is one of the most beautiful stroles in Paris (but again watch your pockets in the Pigalle/Blanche area and around the Sacre Cœur and avoid the guys trying to make you a "friendship bracelets"...they are not your friends).

So MANY steps This…read moremetro station was near the hotel. Very easy to use. But.......from the north from the hotel there is an uphill walk and a flight of stairs to get to the entrance. Inside the station there's four flights of stairs to get down to the platform. At the entrance there are kiosks to purchase tickets. These tickets are good for metro, bus and tram. The kiosk takes credit cards and cash. There offer several languages. If you are in the city for several days, I recommend the T+ ten pack. The pack makes each ticket $1.80. Actually all the Paris metro stations were clean and easy to use. Good signage for lines and directions. An electric board at the platform tells you how many minutes the next two trains are out. My last recommendations- try to avoid rush hours, and load the Paris RATP app. It's easy to use and was a great help finding the lines to take. Rode it alone without issues.

I do approve. Every time I think of this name, I think of Marius warning the people to galvanize because General Lamarck is ready! I can't help how my brain works.
