The station is located between Rue de Rivoli and Rue St Antoine, near Eglise St Paul and St Louis Church. There are both retail shops and cafés in every direction. So just start walking and you find something. Near the station we found Charcuterie Traiteur, which sells both sausages and saucisse de Lacaune (small ones), along with cheeses and desserts, while also operating a small sandwich shop in back. Nice. Also nearby is Eglise St Paul and St Louis Church, which in itself is a reason to visit here. The church is incredible and is magnificent inside. You have to see it's beautiful altar, organ and naive. Exploring the le Marais can be a lot of fun. You'll never know what you'll discover. Enjoy the journey.

I'm not actually all…read morethat sure if it is still used as the city hall - it has probably moved elsewhere, but it is one of Paris' more famous buildings - well, to the extent that there are so many famous buildings here that it is difficult to know which ones to go and visit, as long, of course, as you don't go and visit the really touristy places. Anyway, yeah, this station is quite handy, especially if you want to check out the Hotel de Ville.

However, leaving that aside, the other thing that I liked was not so much the cathedral, but rather the fountain nearby, which I have to say is pretty impressive. We came to this rail hub in Paris for our high speed train to Amsterdam. We were on the…read more"Pre-tour" portion of our river cruise and had to go to Zamdam to catch our ship. That required us to get the main station on Amsterdam, then catch a bus. What can I say. It was your typical train station with many trains ready to go and you could also catch a subway here. It was easy to maneuver through and while I was waiting I went for a coffee and a pastry. That's the special thing about Paris... even in the train station was good coffee and great pasteries. I noticed lots of Police patroling the area which definately helps make you feel just a bit more safe and comfortable. Boarding the train was quick and easy and they left right on time. KUDOs to the team here at the Gare du Nord.

Although not as bad of an experience as the TGV train, the waiting experience of Eurostar just…read moremakes flying look amazing. The Gare du Nord station was frightfully warm and there were very few seats. Generally while the space felt poorly designed for crowds, the signage was okay, although still slightly confusing to navigate. Once on the train our experience wasn't too bad as we'd splurged for midclass so we were seated in a quiet area, but that being said - I really wish our attendant had prevented parents who had seats elsewhere walking into our car with their young children and letting them wander around being loud. All in all, the experience was good, but I'm not sure how often we'd take the train to Paris, especially since there is no Disney linkup.

Review of station not the service…read more Conveniently located down the street from the US Embassy. On the edge of Tuileries Gardens. Near the lion statue that has bullet holes in it from a war. A long leisurely stroll from the Louvre. Off the Place de la Concorde traffic circle. Part word search, part crossword puzzle can't be sure. Even with my lack of French I still try to form words! Clean. It's a busy station. Beware of pickpockets is sometimes announced. Tourist tip - just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.
