Both were very different, but very flavorful. Just the right creamy texture and not overly decadent. Pretty spot on as far as ice cream goes. Not sure if it's the milk quality or just the makers of the ice cream, but this was among the best I've tried! Definitely recommend. Pricey ice cream but it's worth the splurge. We paid ~15 francs for 4 scoops of ice cream in 2 cups. The people are super friendly and willing to speak English to me. Most of the menu is in English so if you're a tourist like me you'll be fine. I definitely recommend Swiss chocolate, it is my new favorite! If you sit down and order from a waiter, the price is slightly more expensive, you've been warned. We just grab them and ate on a train. read more

LOVE this place!!! The ice cream is pretty incredible. My husband and I come here and get our fix at least once a week. We usually sit at an outside table to soak up the warm weather and people watch (worth the slightly higher price of table service). Most of the flavors are delicious but my absolute favorite is the Swiss Chocolate and Marco's is the Stracciatella. The pear flavor is super yummy as well as the raspberry, maple walnut, and rum raisin. Their coffees are not bad either, comes with a small square of chocolate on the side with the Movenpick logo on it. No matter which flavors I choose, my most favorite part of the ice cream cone is the last bite where the tip of the cone is filled with the soft slightly melted ice cream that partially soaked into the inside wall of the cone. When I take that last bite everything else seem to fade away for just a few moments.....mmm...life is sweet! read more

Mövenpick is switzerland's pride and joy. They have seriously the best ice cream you could taste, and even though it is really pricey, it is not overpriced. It just is that good and worth every penny. My favorites are their cream based ice creams, Especially the maple walnut and the mint chocolate are absolutely impeccable. I gotta trytheir white chocolate one too... It i right at bellevueplatz so it i easy to get there, however, it is quite popular so calculate some waiting time into your schedule. Take a tram to bellevue or stadelhofen or opernhaus. In my opinion, it is better than the ones you can buy at your grocery store, it isnt frozen down like that so the flavors are much more colourful... I dont know how to describe it properly, it is so good. I usually dont like cornets either, but they just have the best ones (well they are a little flakey... I am very simplistic when it comes to ice cream, I don't like a lot of stuff in it, but the Swiss Chocolate with the little shavings of chocolate inside is just beyond me... so unbelievably good. mmm. I wasn't sure if I could ask for samples, so I took a calculated risk with the Cognac VSOP and pannacotta flavors. They were quite delicious. I enjoy sampled my friend's amaretto and almond. Mövenpick surely knows what they are doing. As many described already, their ice cream is indeed creamy, smooth, and delicious. But a distinction is that every ice cream flavor (at least for the ones that we have tried) comes with simple little chunks of whatever flavor. As someone who likes chunky peanut butter, you bet that I'm instantly delighted to relish on little pieces of mango and blackcurrant in my mango and blackcurrant ice cream, respectively. I also tried the lime and mint chocolate, and there were little lime and chocolate chunks as well. Simple but so gooood! The only catch (for a non-Swiss, at least) is the cost. Taste, in this case, does not come cheap. Also, be aware that if you order your ice cream on-the-go, then you are NOT allowed to seat in their cafe or their outdoor seating area as those seats are only for service. We enjoyed ours sitting on the steps outside of the Opera House, so no problem for us there. read more

They raved about the "amazing" flavours, but they looked like what I would expect from a decent US grocery store, to be honest. Really long queue, although it moved reasonably quickly. And, since it's Zurich, it's incredibly expensive. This place may offer some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted. However, it is pricey and if the weather is even slightly better than gray and rainy you can expect to wait in a long, slow moving line. They always have at least 10 flavors to choose from and the waffle cones are made in house. The ice cream is rich, delicious, creamy goodness. My favorites are swiss chocolate, white chocolate, and mint chocolate. There is ample indoor seating which is always clean (a rarity for an ice cream shop). There are a few tables outside as well. If I remember correctly, two scoops in a cup cost around 8.60 chf, pretty pricey but the ice cream is so rich, one scoop is sure to satisfy. read more
