The atmosphere was calm, clean, and incredibly relaxing from the moment we walked in. The massage therapists were excellent, they instinctively knew exactly what I needed. They used just the right amount of pressure and worked through a tremendous amount of tension in my shoulders and neck. I tend to carry stress for long periods of time and live in a constant "fight or flight" mode, so when someone truly works out those deep knots and helps your body relax, it can almost feel like a shock to your system. I was a little nauseous afterward, but that's completely normal when you release that much built-up tension. After a carb-heavy, high-protein meal with a little sodium, I felt much better. The next morning I'm definitely sore, but again, that's expected when you've been holding onto that much tightness. What matters most is that I feel lighter, both physically and emotionally. My circulation feels better, the tension is gone, and I genuinely feel like a heavy burden has been lifted off my shoulders. My husband and I absolutely plan to return regularly. The reflexology was wonderful and relaxing--the facial and scalp massage are done while your feet soak in a bucket of hot water--but the bodywork is INTENSE. My pain was mostly concentrated between my shoulder blades, and lower back. Like all Asian massages for pain, the process is painful. The therapist used her elbows on the knots in my shoulders. She found and kneaded out areas of tension. The massage finishes up with hot stones and a wipe with a warm towel to remove the oil. I'll admit that I was kind of happy when it was over, lol.
