When you walk in, you're given a paper slip for your order. First thing in line is soups. If you want one, you order and hand over your ticket so they can mark your order on it. When you get to the main counter, you do the same with main dishes. Everything is out and ready to go, so by this point you don't have to wait at all for your food. Keep your ticket on you and you pay at a booth when you leave. I ordered a small borscht (all of the soups come in half and full sizes) and a pork dish with sauerkraut and dumplings. The borscht was unlike any I've had before; it was tasty but I wouldn't get it again. The pork dish however was excellent. The sauerkraut was fabulous - best I've had in my life. The pork was a little too fatty in pieces but had a really nice flavor. The place is super clean and the bathrooms were adequate especially considering how busy it was around lunchtime. Would return/recommend!

There was also a sign inside the restaurant listing the top 15 Czech dishes. I got the beef with rice in a mushroom sauce. The meal was quite delicious and very filling. The prices here are pretty affordable. There's a lot of seating in the restaurant and you can sit anywhere you want. It was pretty busy when we were here for lunch. We were lucky to grab a table for four and we sat together with our friends.

I was encouraged to order quickly as they close at midnight. The restaurant has a modern/hipster feel. I sat in the front area that had a mix of regular and high tables. The smell of grilled meat was in the air. Started with the Staropramen Eleven-what else?! Just wanted to get a sampling of Czech fare so ordered the grilled spicy sausage and assorted Czech cheese. There were 3 types of cheese and all were tasty. Tartare of Olomouc, whipped Blue Cheese & marinated Camembert. I Iiked the Camembert the most. They grind and make their own sausage & you can tell as they were seasoned perfectly and grilled just right. Service was good. That said, they were ready to finish up so if you come after 11 & want food have your order ready. This was the meal I needed after a few hours of travel!

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.

Located in Old Town Prague, this place was highly recommended by many. They do not take reservations, so seating is first come, first serve. There are two ways to dine at this place. The first is that you make it to their hot food station where food is already cooked. You then pick the meat and side dishes you want and then they will charge you based on the weight of the food. The second is that you go to their butcher station (located at the entrance of the restaurant), pick a piece of their cut (steak or pork), and they will cook it right there for you along with the side dishes you picked. Beer can be ordered on the inside too as they have a brewery station. You eat first and then you pay before you leave. I opted for the second option and got a piece of bone-in steak. My two side dishes were grilled potatoes and vegetables. The steak was delicious, potato was cooked very well, vegetables were a little bit oily but overall acceptable. I think the quality of their steak was great, but I also wouldn't say it was the best steak I've had. Prague food in general is cheap, but this whole meal was about $60 for me, so pretty pricy by Prague standard. Of note, they do have unlimited bread, but there is no butter, so another small let down for me. Service was kinda non-existent. Other than the server coming over to deliver my food, I've never seen him ever again. I managed to hunt him down for a piece of napkin, but that took more effort than me trying to stuff down my last piece of the steak. Overall I would come here again. The steak is good, but not amazing. The price by Prague-standard is high, but by US-standard is normal.
