As a Marriott Lifetime Platinum member, I expected far more from Citizen M than they were able to provide. It needs to be said that my partner and I are 69 and 79 years old, and even though we are fit and spent our days walking in Paris, we lacked the gymnastic ability to comfortably enter the bed which is surrounded on three sides by walls and window. There was barely room for us to place our luggage and the mini-closet had only 6 hangers. We were concluding a 19 day trip in Provence so we had a significant amount of baggage. The breakfast buffet was expensive (even with a remission due to elite status), and the quality of the baguettes was below par. The croissants, pains au raisin, and juices and fruits were adequate. On the whole, the hotel was below average in quality and well above average in price. I do not think I would stay here again. That said, there are things to recommend the hotel. The staff was welcoming, and the public areas were spacious and comfortable. The shower, despite its small size and lack of privacy, was very good, easy to use, and comfortable toilet and shower shared one space. I loved and my partner hated the technology that allowed us to control the lighting, curtains, blinds, and TV with a dedicated iPad. The sink and storage for personal toiletries were very small. I can imagine that if I were a younger single person, carrying very little luggage and in Paris for business, I might really enjoy this efficient use of space and convenience. But sadly, we needed more room and felt rather cramped with the room. So this is a sad story of paying far too much for far too little, and I have to say that this was not up to the Marriott Bonvoy standards that I have come to expect and enjoy.

Not only is I just lose the time, I lost the money because they refused to refund me the night. They instead offered to modify my remaining night, at the urgent rate, which was much higher. It was almost $300 in USD, for the one night. The room was a King sized bed but I. My opinion, not big enough for two people. The room is arranged in a surprising way where every thing surprisingly fit but it's very cramped. The bed was comfy and had a small desk next to the bed so I was able to get some work done. I was pleasantly surprised they had both to r European and American outlets here. I've been to several European hotels, but I've never seen that. The staff here was helpful despite my lack of ability to speak French. Due to the size, I would not stay her or probably another Citizen M property, but my one night stay was pleasant.

The rooms are fine but the hallway just looks like a mess. I'm not so sure graffiti works well as a motif. My room was comfortable although there was a moderate amount of street noise. I was also bothered by a strong smell of mildew. I could not find the source until I was finished with my shower where there is a band of it running beneath the shower base. ibis also needs to do a better job of communicating to the housekeepers which rooms have guests who have checked out, rather than just opening doors when people are undressed or in the bathroom or worse.

The bathroom could use some attention as the shower has some mold in the grout lines. Overall, it's fine for one night and good for our need to be near the bus, but we won't stay here again with other options in the area.

So mostly this was based on convenience and price. All of the above factors worked out for us during our stay. The hotel itself seems fairly new (not run-down / aging). They had amenities which we did not use (a small indoor pool, a fitness center inside an interior 3-story atrium, a restaurant/bar, etc.). They had WiFi, though it is unsecured; at least it was fairly fast. As far as other services, the hotel did let us know once a delayed bag arrived. The area is not overly noisy given its location within Paris. Given similar constraints, I would choose this hotel again.

But the decoration of the rooms was cheap and not very welcoming. Staffs were very helpful and nice and the place is only few feet away from Reuilly Diderot metro station (line 1 & 8) which serves all possible attractions in Paris including Champs Elysees, Louvre, and Opera. Plus, the place is not too far from Place de Bastille, a cool place to catch a drink.

Although we didn't cook, it was nice to have a fridge and silverware to enjoy a snacks and cold drinks from time to time in the room. When you stay for 7 days, they provide cleaning once which was good enough for us. The only problem is the badly designed shower where the lack or curtain makes it nearly impossible not to water the entire room. The staff was friendly an we felt safe with a code to enter the building and 24 hour front desk.

Since we weren't leaving until the next night around 9 PM, the hotel allowed us to keep our 4 bags in the front room all day while we explored our last night in Paris. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of our room as we were absolutely exhausted, but it was adorable and everything was pure purple and matched so well! I felt very clean and safe and thankful! It's a bit small, but we were only there for a week and it worked out fine. It was pretty clean - they don't change the sheets we noticed - they basically redid the beds. They did however change the towels. There was also complimentary breakfast down in the lower level which was great however there are times when it is busy and it's difficult to find a place to sit as well as cups and food as sometimes it takes awhile to get refreshed. There is Wifi available however it is ONLY available in the main lobby. So every night when we get back to the hotel, there will always be several people in the lobby on their laptops or smartphones surfing the web. It is located very conveniently next to the metro 6 line (Dugommier is the station) which is roughly about a little more than half hour to the center of Paris.
