This review is for the summer camp... The past few months have been tough on my older son's health…read moreso much that doctors recommended him to stay in town and pass on traveling this year. Therefore, although our summer vacation was already planned, I had to cancel everything and find another alternative: day camps. Because it was kinda not planned and at the last minute, I had a lot of "we are already at full capacity for the summer" or "unfortunately we are not equipped to handle kids with special needs"... I've decided to give it a try a little bit further from my area and yay! The Centre Communautaire de Loisir de la Côte-des-Neiges agreed to give us a one week trial. Firstly, I really liked the location, just steps away from the metro. Kids usually arrived at 9AM and left at 4 PM and they also had a day care (from 7 AM to 9 / from 4 PM to 6). The groups are age-organized. The center is very well-equipped in terms of sports facilities, there's a huge gymnasium with basketball courts, a pool, etc. They organize numerous activities outside of the camp: On the second day, they had a horse riding activity (my older son had to stay home for this one but my other one went and really enjoyed it). The fourth day they had an outing at the museum.... and unfortunately for me, they realized that day that they couldn't further the experience, as my son required someone dedicated specifically to him (which I kinda knew). Although the experience lasted just one week, he really enjoyed being with kids (being at home/hospital for months is probably not the funniest for a nine-year-old) and he has still made some great memories. My little one kept going and was really sad when the camp ended last week, which is a good sign for me! The team was very friendly and professional. They have advised that if I get in touch with them sooner next year, around February, they will be able to organize themselves for my son next summer. I recommend The Centre Communautaire de Loisir de la Côte-des-Neiges for its human side.

We registered our daughter in Dynamix Camp for spring break and other 1-week camps when there was…read moreno school and we needed child care (and entertainment.) She LOVED the experience and has since asked when she would be going back. She made friends with kids of different ages and learned about teamwork. My only complaint was some drop-off and pick-up disorganization, but I spoke to the owner of the company and was assured that improvements have been made and that child safety is their top priority.

A super kool, free, water playground for kids and adults (who haven't grown up) alike!…read more Water was pretty cold so my niece didn't wana play in it at first but after playing on all the dryer jungle gyms she was finally warm enough to brave the cold water and frolicked in the various spraying structures, all smiles! The ground, except the edges, is made out of a spongy water resistant foam so it's fairly safe for the kiddos to run around barefoot. Only reasons it gets 4 stars instead of 5 are because: some of the structures were elusive, even to me, as to how to get them spraying water; and because the foam, although great in concept, was dug out severely in one area (see photo) and tons of lil foam-ish balls were literally everywhere (choking hazard for small children, falling hazard for all kids). So: supervision required and necessary. But a great way to entertain childers for hours on a sunny hot day!

We visited the Montreal Olympic Swimming Pool and Olympic Parc on a full day tour of Montreal…read more It was super cool to see and hear about the construction of the facility and the pool for the 1976 Olympics. It's inside the giant, leaning, Montreal Tower, which in itself is really neat to see. In the Olympic Pool area, there is also a small museum too that covers the 1976 Olympic Games. On our tour, the guide explained to our group how the pool (and other smaller pools) were built for the swimming, diving, and other water sports. The pool is still used for recreational swimming by the citizens of Montreal, which I appreciate that they found a new use for it vs. tearing everything down and building over the site.

In 1976 the Summer Olympics were held in Montreal and this facility which is still in the same state as in 1976 with the Olympic rings outside the door was built for the swim competition. Now you have the opportunity to swim in the same pool as the Olympic Athletes. Canadians can buy monthly memberships but Americans can swim here for a daily fee of less than $8.00 CAD with a passport and proof of double vaccination. They even have the viewing stands so bring some friends and family with you to cheer you on like in the Olympics. The pool is super clean--the cleanest I have ever seen. And so are the locker rooms and showers. I had googles on and dove to the bottom a few times and it was cleaner than any pool that I have been in. You are required to keep a face covering on all times walking around except in the pool. ( I got reprimanded initially by the lifeguard for walking near the pool without one.) There are lanes for laps, a kiddie area, and free swim area. There are 2 lifeguards on duty on both sides of the pool. They even have a machine in the locker room to dry your swim suit--worked great! There are open lockers but you will need to bring a lock--we just used our small suitcase locks--it seems relatively safe when we were here. They have benches next to the pool for your towel and things. We took a Uber here from the hotel but if you are driving, park in P5 lot. Give yourself a few hours to come here because if you are not familar its a maze of Olympic buildings and once inside another maze figuring out how to get from the locker room to the pool without walking though another gender's locker room. I had to consult with other swimmers and such nice people in Montreal--they gave me an escort. Just a tremendous experience and we are thankful to the Montreal people for allowing us to "jump in."

I particularly like the club for 8-12 years, my oldest son loves going there on Sundays. We have 3 kids and tried many camps, and…read moreExplorations camp is special because of its variety and the way they cater their programs to each age group. This summer will be our third year back as a family. For our youngest daughter, we love that their program has a lot of physical activity and outdoor lessons. They do cool hands-on projects every day, often combining arts and science, and they have a music teacher who she adores. Once she reached the Grade 2 level at Explorations last year, I couldn't believe the things she was doing - things like origami, coding, and even woodworking. Every day she came home excited to tell us about something new she had tried. Our middle child has been doing their Intermediate/Senior program for a couple of years now, and they're a bit more specialized, picking three activities to do in July. Our son is really into tech, so I thought he would pick all robotics and coding classes, but he's also been choosing some performance arts. The music band activity they run is phenomenal (we ended going to the NDG Music School throughout the schoolyear because our son got hooked). He also loves their comedy class, and it has made a HUGE difference for him to be doing performance activities with other kids. This is what convinced us that Explorations the best camp in Montreal. There are other camps with theatre, and other camps with electronics, but I don't know of another camp where kids can choose to do both. They also have a bunch of arts like pottery, fashion design, and animation -- which our younger daughter is really excited to try when she's old enough. Our older daughter is nearing the end of highschool, and she tried the Panorama Program at Explorations last year. It's for older students and seems to be totally focused on science (seems like their only camp level that does not have loads of variety). So probably not a good fit for your child if they don't like science at all. The Panorama students travel to different places around the McGill campus, and it was great for our daughter's independence. She honestly didn't tell us too much about it, but she liked it enough that she wants to go back again this year, which speaks volumes from a teenager who says little. They have sports, too. I don't think it's their focus, but the younger kids do have a dedicated phys ed teacher and lots of active time, and the older kids have some choices of sports activities like fencing and archery. They have soccer, basketball, and dodgeball as options for kids to do during the break times (our son says their dodgeball system is great). So if your kid is purely an athlete and just wants to chase a ball all day, then Explorations might not be for them, but if they want to do sports as part of the day, then Explorations definitely accommodates that. So we love that Explorations camp is fantastic for all three of our children, at very different ages. The variety that the young kids get is frankly unbelievable. The choices for the older kids are really good for letting them have freedom to learn almost anything - and you may be surprised by your kid's choices! And I actually don't know of many camps that do a special program for older teens, so Explorations camp stands our for serving all ages of kids with activities that seem perfect for them. *Note: these comments are about their camp in July. I just looked at their website, and I think their programs in August are more specialized with fewer choices, but they still look great. We are also going to sign up for their Winter Break and March Break camps for the first time this year, and we'll update this review to comment on those programs.

We had seen this place every time we have been in Montreal, but this is the first visit there when…read moreit was open! It is 100% worth the trip! You can buy a 2 hour or 4 hour band and off you go. My 12 year old was in heaven. He could climb, swing, jump, crawl, and propel himself all under the watchful eye of the wonderful souls in the red shirts. He was perfectly harnessed and they were very explicit in their safety rules. I was able to observe him from the ground in a comfy Adirondack chair with other parents. Some read books, others enjoyed the sunshine. It was a really positive experience. They have a small snack bar which was helpful. It really is a wonderful ropes/obstacle course. They have an inflatable park, but he never made it there since he was having a great time. We will definately go back!

The aerial walk has different levels, for every age and skill level, and there are various other activities, for younger kids, including bouncy castles and some sort of a movie experience (my kids weren't interested). A definite repeat.
