Worst place to get gel nail removal- which is a pretty common, basic service to get at place claiming to be a nail salon. They filed the nail down so much that they broke through my nail and hit the skin underneath and made me bleed! YES-it was painful! Worst part- the woman tried to keep going- filing the same nail! Not only did they not apologize- they didn't even stop to make sure I was okay or atleast take a moment let me wipe the blood away. The women pretended to not see it and hope I didn't realize! I had to specifically ask for a tissue and band aid and then when I complained on how ridiculous of a job it was- another lady came over, put some glue on top and said "it'll be fine tomorrow, it's not too bad!" WHAT?! I'm sorry I wasn't aware that drawing blood while doing your customers nails was such a normal experience here when I stepped into the salon or I would have run the other way! This is a great nail salon. Very clean and the staff is very polite. Paid $35 for a pedicure which I feel of fair. The massage chairs are great and huge TV screens to relax. They are great with those sore toes and put this oil rub on the dry nails so they slide into your shoes without and wear on the polish. I just moved to the area from Philly and have been here twice. The mani/pedi was great. Today I went for a gel manicure/pedi. The pedi was fine. The gel manicure was $55 for pretty much just a polish. No cuticle work, no hand massage (not sure if that's common here for gel manicures?) Also the gel manicure burned when I placed my hands under the lights and that's never happened before. I was setting up to become a regular for gel manicures and I'm not sure if I'll be back. I'll have to come sooner than normal because the manicure will grow out faster due to my cuticles not being worked on. $55 for a 15 minute polish, may as well just do the gel myself. read more

I tried Nails 1st after reading good reviews and not being very satisfied with my last few visits with my regular salon. From the outset, it was a terrible experience. To remove gel polish, they had me soak in acetone, scrape with some type of tool, soak, scrape, soak, scrape, etc. THEN, they used a dremel (until I stopped them) on my natural nails to get the rest of the polish off. They wasted more time and acetone and caused more damage to my nails with their "method" than the tried and true foil method. Once that was over, the actual manicure was not good. They don't clean or prep your nails before beginning the polish and my polish is so thick and uneven. It looks like I have some type of (really bad) artificial nail enhancement on. Lastly, and the nail in the coffin for me, was the fact that they don't socially distance customers despite the ability to do so. They were about 20% full when I was there and they sat me right next to another customer. When the woman next to me left, the tech who did her nails took her mask off and sat at her station playing on her iPad. There was another tech, a man, a few rows back, who was sitting at a station without a mask counting money. Then he was walking all over the salon without a mask. It was shocking. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I will say that the woman who did my nails was very friendly and most of the other people who work there seem very friendly as well from what I could tell by their interactions with other customers. That's about it though. They really don't seem to have any concern about following safety standards, for the nail industry or for Covid. Those are big no's for me. read more

So this is not the worst nail salon I've been to, but also nowhere near the best. My friend and I went together to receive mani/pedis. Overall, their prices are REALLY not worth their services. The gel pedicure was $55 and basically consisting of filing my toenails, cleaning up my cuticles, scrubbing the bottom of my feet briefly, and applying polish. The entire thing took maybe 20 minutes and was worth $30 at most (to account for the gel). The manicure was a bit of soaking in cold water, a little bit of cuticle clipping, filing, then gel polish, and this was $35. We also had an appointment and received our pedicures sort of at the same time, but the same manicurist did both of our nails so each of us had to wait for the other. Even with the wait they rushed us in and out so quickly, the experience was under an hour. I did not feel like I received a mani/pedi experience worth $90. To me, this is a luxury and Nails 1st DID NOT make this luxurious in any way. read more

She called to make the appointment in front of me and he said that if he didn't have anyone he would take her, apparently he does the nails the best. My daughter made an appointment and he made her wait for 20 minutes just because and then he decided that he was going to let someone else do her nails. I was sitting right outside and watching him and when my daughter told me that he wouldn't do her nails I walked in and asked why he wouldn't do her nails. His reply was that he doesn't do nails. I'm originally from NYC but I've spent this whole summer working remotely in PA. I hadn't gotten my nails done at all and finally decided that I'd try out a place nearby. Side note: I usually get acrylics when I get my nails done because I'm a nail biter so that's what I did today. I called and the guy that picked up the phone was so friendly and welcoming, and he told me I could come over ASAP. I drove right over and got Sunny as my nail technician. He was so so so great. He made sure I liked my nails every step of the way, and did a phenomenal job all around. I wanted to make sure that I shouted him out because if you're coming here for acrylics or anything else, make sure to ask for Sunny and he will KILL IT. I'm sure that everyone else is just as great but I really enjoyed my experience with him in particular. Tbh, I usually don't get my nails done as well in NYC, and I've been to a ton of places. Anyway, I know Yelp isn't as large of a resource around here as it is in NY (I use it for everything), but I hope that this review encourages you to check this awesome salon out! The employee at the front was so fun and energetic during my time there as well. He knew the name of every single person who walked through the door, and provided great entertainment throughout. This place was good. I called ahead to see if they had time for 3 manicures at once. The woman I spoke to said they did. Turns out they only sort of did. They took two of us, then the once one was finished, that nail technician took the third. Not the end of the world since we weren't doing pedicures, but worth noting. The woman who did my nails seemed a bit rushed but she was precise. The water they use to soak your hands is cold and has no soap, however, and they don't autoclave their tools from what I could tell. At the end though, she did a give a brief but relaxing hand massage and use a hot towel. I'm not from the area, but I would probably give them another try if I was. read more

I called in the evening trying to take a shot if this salon would have an opening for gel nails and a gel pedicure. They had the availability and I should have taken that as a sign instead of feeling lucky to get in today. I had 2 different older ladies who worked on my nails. The first older woman who was doing my pedicure literally has no business doing nails. She did not use a single spa product on my feet or legs through out the entire pedicure. There was no scrub or mask put onto my legs and there was ZERO leg or foot massage. She rubbed lotion on my legs that were still wet and that was all. She wasn't even going to clean up my cuticles until I had to repeatedly ask her-she kept ignoring me because she didn't speak English. She did not use cuticle softener or ever cuticle oil on me. My pedicure was water and tools literally. She cut my big toe nails down so short that they literally don't even look like my usual toes. The other older woman came to assist because I was getting respectfully upset. I pointed out not only are they too short but one is completely crooked. She tried telling me it's because my toe bone is crooked therefore that's why I have a crooked nail. I said "ma'am, I have had my nails done my entire life and never have I ever had a crooked nail before." I was charged $55 for that awful pedicure. If I'm paying $55 for a gel pedicure, all the bells and whistles and massages and products should be used and every step to a pedicure should be followed- which it was not. The same women who took over the service from the other women, also did my gel nails. I explained to her I just had my nails done 2 weeks ago I'm just wanting a different polish. She went and does a gel manicure on me which is more expensive. It was not by accident..She did not bring the color up to the cuticle on all nails it appears chipped on one nail where she didn't apply the polish evenly by my cuticle. I wanted to share my experience incase anyone else is considering going here. I paid $90 + a $20 tip just to have this type of experience. You decide if it's worth coming to. It's not the worst nails I've ever had but the unaccountability, lack of professionalism and over charging while under servicing guests is my problem. read more

I took my daughter for a mommy and me mani/pedi. They only have one kind of pedicure which makes it simple to choose, however I would like certain services that they didn't offer. Both our pedicures chipped a few hours later. My daughter's manicure (which, granted, she has tiny little nails) was incredibly sloppy. I didn't get a mani. Me and my two friends all went to get pedicures and acrylic gel nails. It is $35 for a pedicure and it's $35 for a full set of acrylics plus $20 extra just for gel nail polish. All three of us came out with bleeding cuticles and skin around our nails and are in some pain from how rough they were on our nails. We ended up not getting the pedicures because we felt that that was a lot of money for a pedicure and they were shaming us for not spending the money. I went in for a fill and the man doing my nails would not stop insulting me from the minute I walked in until the minute I left. I expected to spend $35 for a fill... I spent $60 because he ripped all my nails off, cut them down to nothing, then asked me if I wanted to leave them as is or if I wanted to get a new set. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted so I sat and waited to be greeted for my service. My nail technician didn't follow instruction. I confirmed twice with her that I wanted my cuticles and the skin around my nails to be cleaned up, and then have acrylics and polish applied. She only did the acrylics and before she applied even the tips to begin the acrylics, I confirmed yet a third time that she would clean up my cuticles as well as around my nails. She proceeded to just apply the acrylics and then the polish. When I examined my nails after, the shapes were inconsistent with each other and the polish didn't cover entirely around the nail, especially the tips. My skin around my nails and cuticles were left as is, making the entire outcome look a bit messy. She was very hasty with her job and I felt like I was an awkward burden in their shop. Let me also say that I rarely get my nails done bc I am usually scrubbed into and performing surgery, something that I emphasized with the staff after they pried that information from me...so the one time I actually do get them done, it was a bust bc of incompetence, or laziness, or lack of skill. I am so happy I decided to finally go in to this nail salon! 3 weeks ago I went to another nail salon in Scranton and got a full gel set. They were extremely thick and uneven. I went here for a fill and the woman helped me completely transformed the horrible set I received into something I am obsessed with. Very clean and really nice setup. I was pleased with the final result, but they soaked by my hands in cold water without any suds (said they ran out of hot water duh??) never used a cream to soften my cuticles before cutting them (then complained my cuticles were hard duh??) and never did a hand massage. They also kept my daughter in law and I waiting while they took clients that came in after us before us. I think they were probably regulars. First of all the women who was doing my service had a full conversation with the other technician who was working on someone else during my WHOLE SERVICE How ANNOYING!! THen I didnt like the color of nail polish I chose and she was not too happy about that.. The worse part was she never even worked on my rough heals and toes.. left there just like I came in.. My mother and I went to this place about four different times . At first it seemed like a nice place and the nails and pedicures were done nice. So the last time I went I was treated like garbage for no reason. I didn't tip the girl who did my manicure . I believe she's the wife of the guy in the front of the place . My mother went two times without me no problems. Last and final time I was getting a pedicure. So my mother was sitting waiting then three younger girls walked in . So they took all 3 girls and my mother asked and she was told no they didn't come in before you which is a lie . My personal opinion that was done out of cattiness because his wife didn't get tipped because of her nasty behavior which I couldn't understand because she has done my nails & feet before with no nastiness. I paid and tipped a different lady . I was leaving and said to the owner thank you but you have bad service and basically he looked at me like yeah whatever who cares .
