I called and asked for a price for gel manicure and basic pedicure. They told me $56 over the phone. In the salon, the prices listed were $38 for gel mani and $28 for pedicure. I was prepared to pay $66 and then the lady charged me $10 more on her own because she gave me a massage. I'm so upset that they do that. Then after everything was done she told me they were cash only and pointed to an ATM. They should have giant signs stating that they're cash only if that's the case. So I paid and then she stared at me until I gave her a $10 tip (I tried to give only $5 because I felt so ripped off). Most I've ever paid for nails. I went in for a full and gel polish. They wanted $60 for that ($45 at Nails 1st). She grabbed the gel polish and it was shellac (Shellac is a blend of gel and nail polish. Because it is like a polish, it can't be used to extend your nail. Because it is like a gel, however, it does add strength and durability. In the long term Shellac is much less damaging to nails than traditional Gels (or Acrylics)) which isn't gel. I ended up removing my acrylics and doing regular polish. My nails aren't the same shape or length. She used clippers on one hand and not the other. I sat with my hands on the dryer for 30 minutes and one hand isn't dry still. Don't go here. read more

Got my nails done on Thursday, June 24 2022. After it was recommended by a friend. The job was very poorly done. The clear part of my nails was very cloudy. The finishing looked yellow& grainy. The tech ( an older lady. She might be the owner) asked for payment before even starting. That should have been a warning. On Monday, the 27, ( 3 days later) while driving I noticed my nails turning green( first 2 pictures). Went to the salon and the tech told me I must have held a green pencil while she was doing my nails, it was not fungus.I guess I became ambidextrous over night since the 2 affected nails where on opposite hands. They wanted me to pay to fix it. After 15 minutes of back and forth they finally decided to fix them without charging me instead of taking them off as I had asked. In that process she cut me( picture 3). Woke up this morning, Saturday July 2( 1 week and 2 days after getting them done initially) and noticed "the green pencil paint" on another nail. Heading back to have all of them taken off. I don't know for their other services, but their gel manicure is very sub par and their material or process must not be hygienic because I got fungi nails for the FIRST time EVER, in my history of getting my nails done. Be careful. Today will be the last time they get to see me. Would not recommend their acrylic white tip manicure. Now that I am reading the other reviews, I should have checked before going there. Following up This is how my acrylic removal went ( been in since 1145am-left 207pm) . Tgey didn't even take all of the acrylic off . When asked for a refund, I was told to contact the police. A cat in a nail salon is gross, period. I wish I had looked at the reviews first before going there. I took my teenage daughter for a mani pedi as a treat and before they did her manicure they made her walk over to me barefoot, with wet nails to tell me they wouldn't do her nails until I paid them first? The woman who came over to collect my payment was very rude and kept quickly swiping my card over and over again as though I had given her a bad card and began sighing loudly when her square reader wouldn't read the swipe. After paying my daughter was sent over with her "manicure" after only five minutes and a miserable look on her face. Apparently the woman had been rude the entire time. This was my first visit and I was very happy with it. I go to brown's gym right next door and on a whim decided to check it out. I wanted to get a gel manicure and was able to walk right in and be helped right away. They had a good selection of gel colors and the woman who did mine was very friendly and accurate. She did a wonderful job making them look flawless and the standard gel manicure price included a short back massage and hand massage which was really nice. It was a pretty typical price for a gel manicure and it was one of the better ones that I've had done. The salon was clean, quiet, and relaxing, and you can pay with a credit card despite other reviews mentioning that this is not an option. Tips do have to be in cash however. I'm calling WNEP, BBB, and having them investigated. This is no way to run a business. I pray my review makes some kind of difference and stops some clients from going there. Not one person from "Fancie Nails" has responded to, or taking responsibility for all the horrible reviews they've gotten. I don't usually go to a nail salon unless it has been personally recommended by someone. And Fancie nails was recommended to me as being " the best price for fill ins in the area". I want every one to know that's a lie. I have been getting my nails filled for 20 + years now every 2 weeks religiously and this was THE WORST experience I've ever had. #1 speaking in another language so I don't understand you is the most rude, unprofessional thing any employee can do anywhere. #2 I went in for an Acrylic fill and it wasn't until they were 1/2 way through they they said "no acrylic , glue powder better." I didn't have a choice at that point. #3 after fixing the 2 repairs I asked to be fixed they, and I mean they, 2 woman had to work on each hand and neither of them knew what they were doing, they inform me "repairs are $5 each nail". $5 !!!!!!! Every salon across the US a nail repair is $2. #4 As they come to finish, they then inform me that the powder and glue fill in (which is less expensive than acrylic) is $10 more than what I pay for acrylic, so $35+$10 for repairs and then tack on an extra $25 for gel polish giving my FILL IN a total of $70.00!!!!!! I was irate. A full set of acrylics with gel polish included is only $45.00 everywhere. And they're trying to charge me $70???? This salon is ripping off its customers. If I was happy I would have gladly given them my business every 2 weeks and I would have recommended them to lots of other friends. Its their loss. After reading all the negative reviews I regretted buying my groupon. I booked an appointment for my sister and myself. Our experience was very different from the other reviewers. I was helped by a friendly staff member. The area was clean. I saw the tools being removed from a small sterilizer. The manicure and pedicure took over an hour to complete, I then sat leisurely under the dryer. I have booked two appointments since. I always go at 10am during the week. I went to Fancie today for the first time since COVID. It looked a little different with all the safety protocols in place, but all was good with that. It appears they no longer take credit cards, which for someone like me who rarely uses cash is a problem, but today I was using a gift certificate so no matter. I was asked what service I wanted, I said Spa B pedicure, pointed it out and she confirmed "Spa B". In the middle she asked if I wanted a 10 minute massage and I said no, only what comes with Spa B. She points to the card says something I cannot understand and I said "no" again. When I went to pay I found she had done it anyhow and charged me for it. This is the 3rd time they have done this to me. I am happy to pay for what I want and I tip well, but I hate this trick they have for extorting extra money from their customers. In general this place didn't stand out to me--it seemed to be a normal, average nail salon experience. Everything was up to par, but nothing stood out as particularly amazing, except the quality of my gel manicure. I didn't even really think about it at the time, but as time has gone on, I've decided it was the best gel manicure I've ever gotten. It's been almost a full week and there is literally not even a single chip. It was very clearly expert application. Normally with gel manicures, it gets applied with a little bit on the edges of my cuticles causing early chipping, but there was never a bit of polish on my skin, or OFF my nails, even now. I also had a very serviceable pedicure which is also holding up relatively nicely. I would have recommended the place anyway--it's clean, the staff is kind, the prices are more than fair--but the gel manicure is the best I've ever seen! I'd 100% recommend it. read more

First, its was incredibly hard to get an appointment with them and the people on the phone (yes-- people, every time I called I was passed around to multiple people) were unbelievably rude to me. Yeah.... Then, there is the actual manicure and pedicure. It hurt. Like really hurt. I think the woman doing my pedicure confused the pumice stone with sandpaper and my foot with a piece of wood. I had also opted for the paraffin wax treatment but had to beg her to stop after she repeatedly plunging my foot into nearly boiling wax and repeatedly telling me it would hurt less after a few dips. In the end, the manicure and pedicure were decent at best. I could do the exact same quality by myself at home. I had bought a groupon deal online, it was seriously good value: 30min facial, 10min foot massage, eyebrow wax and mani-pedi for only $29!! But after reading the reviews on here, i was more than apprehensive. I told myself that I'd go there for the mani-pedi (how bad can it be REALLY?!) and if the place is as unhygienic and disgusting as the reviewers said, I would skip the facial. When I got there on a Sunday afternoon, it was packed but the place seemed clean and quiet, quite a few seem to be regulars there too. The people were not chatty but they were perfectly nice and all my services were performed perfectly. The only hassle was when they couldn't find my deal and then insisted the full price on my coupon was wrong, that my tax was higher and demanded a 20% tip, I mean I know for services it was supposed to be 20% anyway but I didn't appreciate being ASKED like that. I hadn't found a great mani/pedi spot in the area yet so I stumbled into Fancie Nail and Spa on a Sunday afternoon. I did not have to wait at all. They had a great selection of both OPI and Essie colors. The woman giving me my pedi and mani took her time and I did not feel rushed at all. I added the extra 10 minute leg massage and it was great. Next time I will probably add the 10 minute shoulder massage instead. I have been going here for over a year and have never had a negative experience. I have gotten gel manicures, pedicures as well as massages. Every person I have ever had has been professional, courteous, and friendly. After moving to Chelsea from the East Village, I was disappointed that most nail salons were huge factories that charged $20 for manicure (e.g. Bloomie). I spent a lot of time trying out different places and I finally found a place with prices as good as the East Village with great service. Fancie charges $10 for a manicure and $25 pedicure. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. Color selection is great (they even had some of the newer Essie pastel shades). It's a newer place, so it wasn't too busy (yet), and I didn't have to wait. I think since it is in a building with scaffolding that a lot of people probably walk right by and miss it. I took a price menu and saw that they also have a package for a manicure + pedicure + 30 minute massage for $65! I'll definitely be treating myself to this after a long work week. In addition to nail services they have massage, waxing, and facials. An hour massage ranges from $65-80 depending on the type of massage (Swedish, sports, aromatherapy, deep tissue, and hot stone). read more

I live around the corner, and will go here in a bind, but typically go out of my way to avoid it. My biggest pet peeve is that they try and hustle you like you're buying a Tijuana hooker in a back alley on the lower east side. If I walk in and say I want a mani-pedi, I don't want a 10-minute massage, I don't want the extra special pedicure, I just want a mani-pedi. I can read, I know you offer those things, I would ask for it if I wanted it. They are typically very rude if you refuse them as well, and complete your services with lots of catty looks and lots of banter in Korean to each other obviously about you. I've also had experiences here that were very rushed, with lots of barking at me to do this or that, and I've also had experiences that took forever. It's not the worst place you'll ever go, but it is definitely not the best. Whatever you do DO NOT get waxed here. The women who work there have no sense of tact. I've had waxers there giggle at the amount of hair they have ripped off of various parts of my body, and I am not a very hairy lady. I've never been to this salon before and decided to walk-in for a pedicure on a busy Sunday afternoon. The girl who assisted me was very nice and took me right away. I got a French pedicure with exfoliation & callus filing for $42 total(tip not included). I've paid less for a French pedicure at other salons, however this price was 100% worth it for the quality of my experience. When I've been sited, they rinsed the tube and brushes with a regular water (ewwww!!!!!!). they'll be pushing you to get more procedures for extra $$$$$$. The pedicure is very thorough in making your feet look extra supple and vibrant! After my pedicures, my feet look soft and make my sandals look really pretty. They go out of their way to give strong exfoliation and longer soaking time. The quality of the polish is good, nothing special but in combination with the skin care looks great and holds up for 1.5 weeks for me. OMG, Where do I start ? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!!! I went to hundreds and hundreds of salons all over the world.... I never experience such bad customer service and dishonesty ! I bought a deal online and I took the time to book an appointment online on their webiste AND by phone. When I came on a saturday, it was COMPLETELY empty and they seem very happy to have me. I mentionned that I have an appointment but they barely listened and proceeded to take me in the room for the waxing. In the middle of the waxing (which was hastily done with no minimum hygiene, I didn't complain since I was on a deal), I made sure to mention again that I had a coupon. The girl took it and ran outside to question the owner. They then had the audacity to tell me that they didn't know the deal company, that it was a scam.... When I said that the coupon was valid till august and that it was perfectly legit, they asked me to pay full price for a service that wasnt even complete and they asked me to call the deal company to request a refund. I repeated that the deal was valid and that they had to honor it. They then changed their version and said that in fact they had the deal going on before, but that the offer expired in march !!! I said that it wasn't my problem since I just bought the deal in may and that it was valid till end of august. I told them it was their responsability to call the deal company and deal with them. Then I got tired and decided to leave since they kept my coupon, although I just had half of my leg waxing ! I was supposed to also get the manicure, pedicure and massage. They then decided to hold me and block the door !!! (they were 4 girls) That was incredible ! In front of the 2 customers they just got ! lol It was such a circus, and these stupid staff made my daughter cry when they decided to call the police on me !!!! She's 4 and she was worried I would go to jail !! ;-( I told them that if the police was not on location in the next 5 mn , I would leave this crazy salon a way or another. I didn't want to fight, although I'm much stronger and muscular than these 4 tiny chinese girls... The manicure and gel polish looks nice - but the big problem is it isn't the color I chose AND I even told the girl and she said "only one coat" as if applying a second coat would magically change the color. I clearly pointed to a pinkish orange for fall. I pointed this out at the end again and asked to compare the swatch and had several other employees look and I said this is CLEARLY not the same color. They agreed and I was told I could come back tomorrow and change it. This after I called for a 6:30 appointment and they didn't start my nails until over an hour later.
