I found this salon through a recommendation from a Ketchikan local. I made an appointment for two to have pedicures, and one to have an acrylic fill with gel polish. We arrived to this newly furnished salon, which was brightly lit with new pedi massage chairs and tubs. The owners are a Vietnamese couple named Michael and Miley, and they just relocated from the mall to this downtown location. Miley was ready when we arrived and started the foot baths while we picked our colors. Miley did the other pedicure and Michael did mine, and both of us felt well attended and very comfortable in the nicely decorated place.They focused on the "trouble" areas of our feet, and both of us were very pleased with our pedicures, leg/foot massages, and warm towels. Michael handled my fill and polish very well. He was very efficient. He did two layers of color and one of clear, and the finish was smooth and beautiful. (I actually waited a few days to write this review to make sure everything still looked great after time passed.) I would recommend this place to others with only a caution about the price tag. Since it's Ketchikan, I was expecting higher prices. The pedicure was $40, to give readers an idea. I absolutely love Nails by Micheal. But specifically Micheal's acrylic nails. He is very fast and they are thin, not thick. Sometimes the drill can get a little hot, because he's pretty fast but it's amazing and I love it. My favorite place to go! read more

This used to be an amazing place, I loved coming here. But over the years the overall experience and quality of the treatments just slipped as fast as my manicure would chip. The atmosphere went from welcoming to cruise ship quality. I love local businesses and will continue to go to them but took this one off my list with great sadness. read more

I visited KTN to see my mom, both of us went to Michael's! I'm from CA so the price was a little out my range, but after staying in Ketchikan for a bit I realize that's the norm here anyway, I waited a few weeks to see how my powder nails are doing in order to give this place a review and I'm glad to say they were in great condition. The customer service was great! I even spilt soda on my lap but the workers were nice about it and even offered to help me. read more

The pedicures are always wonderful. The service is good, facilities clean and the chairs are comfortable. I like the calming meditative music when they play it. It gives a more spa like feel. I would go more frequently if the prices were more like down south. Pedicures go for 40.00 down south, so not sure why the price is so high here. That's my only complaint. read more

I took my partner here, for her first time getting acrylic nails. They even got me a seat so I could stay with her the whole time. She loved the experience! I came in to get dip tip nails removed. They damaged my nails and charged me $42. They are nice enough but lacking the skills.

I stayed by at the near by Gilmore Historic HoteL, NaiLs by Michael was just a few steps up the street. His wife did my nails. They are amazing and shiny!! it's been a week so far and they still look GREAT! I'm super picky about gel I usually do my own but I ran out of time. Comming from a big busy city, traveled in california to arizona and now in alaska. The most expensive gel mani with full set of acrylics and gel pedi i have ever spent! Alot of nicks, unevenly shaped nails. Did my gel mani and pedi in cAlifornia prices before tip ranges 85-95. In and out after 1.5 hr. First time i I did my nails in anchorage with a gel mani with refil and pedi cost $85. No nicks at all. So i said wth let me Try in ketchikan! And nope not recommending to anyone. But atleast they are welcoming. read more

I love Michael's Nails Salon, because the dip was really relaxing to watch. And at the end my nails looked really pleasing. My second time visiting Ketchikan, and going there was fine. I usually try to book my appointment at a time where there is not a lot of people in the salon so I can relax in peace. It was a little pricey, but it was worth it for the nails, plus a lot of things are pricey in Alaska. read more

Didn't have a great experience here. I've come in for a pedicure on multiple occasions and they never have more than 1 appointment available per day. Finally was able to get one and it was very obvious the lady has never had any kind of training on doing nails. She cut my toe nails completely uneven so they are all differently shaped, she was painting my toes side to side instead of up and down like you're supposed to. Got the clear base coat all over my skin because she was just all over the place and rushing, didnt get the callouses off my feet, and at the end refused to give me some of the foam flip flops and told me to just wear my tennis shoes out just because i had gel nails. I understand gel dries pretty instant but I still didn't want to put a fresh pedicure into tennis shoes I had walked around in all day. charged me for a deluxe pedicure without even asking, so i paid $68 for a pedicure i was completely unsatisfied with. will not be returning to this place! read more

Ive always had a good experience when I get my nails done by Michael, he's very family oriented and makes you comfortable while he works you almost forget you're getting your nails done he was the first person to ever give me acrylics I had one pop off about half a weeks in opening a soda but I had been working more with got water at the time other than that never had an issue other than it being a bit pricy but Alaska is expensive what did I expect I highly recommend Michaels Great company and conversation while you relax and get dolled up! read more

Super close, walking distance, from the port at a quarter of the price! You know your nails look terrible after a week, so treat yourself! Great set up for children too. i got my nails done the quality was great hand painted and all though it was a little expensive i was happy until i went noticed the price at end was well over quated price and i was told i could come back for a fill and paint for 45 but when i went back it had climbed to 81 dollars and after my first experience i new that i was most likly going to climb as min or day pass beware. read more

50$ for a very basic pedicure! Insane price and was completely unsatisfying. Nails were cut and left with sharp edges. I asked to have them filed which she only did to 2 of my toes. She gave me a very lax and give a shit attitude when massaging my legs to the point that I almost asked her to stop because it was awful. When I fist walked in I got a look from an employee as if I was an inconvenience for her. Overall very disappointed and won't be returning. read more
