I witnessed an exchange of a hairdresser attacking another worker verbally in front of other clients and workers. Dec 23rd. Mindy was angry at another hairdresser, Melissa due to the front door lock not working properly. Which no one had advised Melissa about. Mindy said she was locked in by her the previous evening. Mindy admitted that she had left through the back door. She chose not to call the office manager or Melissa to let her out the front door as desired. The anger that was displayed in public while another hairdresser had clients in her chair upset everyone. Totally unprofessional. After telling everyone there how pissed she was at Melissa. Mindy raced out the front door in a rage. Leaving Melissa there upset. Her coworker and clients were upset and tried to comfort Melissa. We came to find out that added to this disruption, Mindy had not notified Melissa that she had decided to cancel her hair appointment that evening with her, leaving her hair not done for Christmas. I don't know how with her attitude issues she can maintain a healthy working atmosphere at this salon. It upset everyone involved in the confrontation. Would not recommend Mindy. She is not pleasant to deal with. read more

This salon, and Stacy the stylist are great. I have been to this salon numerous times and saw Stacy. She's a great stylist and is so nice and chatty. She really listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I wanted. She took her time, and I could really tell that she put good work into whatever she was doing. She also gave me some really good advice too. I also liked how the salon has complementary water, coffee and tea to drink. The prices are great too. I spent less than $100 for a cut and color. The location is great in downtown Gresham with free parking. read more

Dennise was my hairstylist. I have black hair. This is my first time highlighting my hair. I wanted red and I picked red from her booklet. But my hair turned out light-medium brown. She added too much Brown to try to make it more natural even though I pointed at red. But she did offer to correct it for free. But still only the top of my head was red like I wanted, the middle to the bottom had barely any red. I would not to back again. read more

I made an appointment with Melissa to get bangs trimmed and eyebrows waxed. I arrived an hour early. One of the ladies at salon let Melissa know via text since she wasn't at salon. I didn't expect her to come in since I was early but after being made aware that I was early and still being late for appointment I feel is bad service. I went for the groupon deal and it was just OK. I had the "highlight and blow dry" Groupon for reference. I like how the color turned out, but overall the experience wasn't great. They were running late, no biggie it happens. After the color/shampoo, the stylist used a thin comb to brush my hair starting from the top.... usually I use a wide tooth and go bottom up for the tangles. It was uncomfortable and struck me as very odd. She then applied a product and started to blow dry, but she didn't dry my hair entirely. Then they ran a flat iron through a few times (without fully drying my hair) then sent me on my way. I left with partially damp hair with the yucky feeling of residue from either the conditioner or product used. Even despite paying a discounted price via Groupon I still don't feel satisfied as I left with wet hair with the Groupon clearly states blow dry. I wouldn't return. read more

Awful, Horrible, Made me cry haircut. I saw Denise. I showed her a picture of a bob, and got hacked. One friend described me as having a mullet, another told me it was the worst haircut she'd ever seen. I'm someone who is never happy at the salon, its not until I get home and style my hair myself before I know if I like it. I've never had a bad haircut before, sometime I don't always get what I want, but its never bad. This was beyond bad. It was uneven, the layers(that should not have been there) were cut way to high leaving the stylist who fixed my hair barely anything to work with. Not only was it a bad cut, it aged me 30 years, not something any 26 year old wants. Anyways, after I got over the shock and tears I got an appointment with a friend's stylist. Emily at Evolution.....I could kiss her. I'm off to write her a great review now. She truly saved what Nails on First and Hair Second destroyed. p.s. I went for the highlight deal and Denise was very fast which was nice... The color turned out good, and it was just basic partial highlights just enough to break up my color. I would recommend taking in your own comb and brushing out your hair yourself. I have never experienced a hairstylist brushing through wet highlighted hair. Yes, my hair gets matted after it is bleached, but for the last 2 years I use only a wide, wide tooth comb on my hair so that I don't get split ends and just to watch someone brush from the top down pulling down through the tangles, omg, I couldn't believe I was watching her do this and I wish I would have said something, it just happened so fast, but now I know for next time to bring my own comb and comb it out myself... uggg, I paid for split ends.. kinda depressed, but I will get over it, at least I have highlighted split ends :) read more

Everyone there was very nice. I came in early for a haircut with Venus. she started right when I got there. I asked last minute if I could get an eyebrow wax as well. she did that first so I didn't walk out with a red face.. very considerate. She also did a great job on the haircut, exactly what I wanted from an old picture. Venus gave great tips for styling and there was no pressure to buy the products used.. refreshing. I have been getting my hair done here for years, and even still drive all the way here from hillsboro since I moved. The receptionists are friendly and always offer coffee or water while waiting. Paula is the best stylist, ask for her if you are new to the place. Quaint location right in the heart of downtown gresham, only pet peeve is minimal parking. read more

As the door said "Walk-ins welcome" I went in to see if they had anyone with time to do a set of acrylics. I mistakenly said "manicure" first, and the older receptionist chewed me out, saying, "What you are asking for IS NOT a manicure, it is a FULL SET OF ACRYLIC and is completely different." I looked at unsure of why she needed to be so rude, but said. "okay, does anyone have time to do a set of acrylics." She wandered back and came out two seconds later telling me No, and then said. "you really should have made an appointment. It's always best to make an appointment, you really should." Okay lady, well obviously I'm going to be seen if I make an appointment. But I don't often find myself in downtown Gresham trying to get my nails done, nor had I EVER heard of this place before. I left without getting my nails done, and decided I will stick to the nail salons in my beloved Portland. read more

Had a very bad experience at this salon. I purchased a Groupon for a balayage with Melissa Preston. She ended up bleaching almost all of my hair which ended up turning a yellow blonde, not an ashy blonde that I asked for. I showed Melissa two photos of what I wanted so she was well aware of what I was requesting. After she had completed my hair I was pretty shocked and slightly embarrassed by how blonde my hair was, and so I failed to mention anything about how I didn't like it while I was sitting in the chair. I definitely shouldn't have left the salon without being satisfied, but honestly i was just shocked. I ended up texting Melissa several days later to let her know I wanted a little more dimension as that is typically what a balayage looks like, it isn't just one solid color, she told me I could come back in and she would charge me an additional $100 to add lowlights. I also stated in the text my hair looked nothing like the two photos I sent her. I don't understand why I should be charged another $100 for what was her mistake. Also, she never fully styled my hair, she gave me a voucher and told me I could come in another day to get my hair styled. I wanted my hair styled at my appointment as I had somewhere to go after my hair appointment. Her response to my text was that the Groupon was for a single process balayage, no where on the Groupon did it state that. Also, if that was the case, she should have told me that. She never once mentioned anything about a single process balayage. She later told me she would give me a credit toward another service. Yeah I think I'll pass. I ended up going to another hair stylist to fix my hair and she did a fabulous job! read more

WOW! I cannot believe the bad reviews I just read! I love this place and have been coming here for over three years now. Denise does my hair and does an outstanding job! I get complements on my hair every week!!! Plus, she is soooo nice and makes me feel like family when I come in. I get my nails and toes done here as well by Katy. She is awesome!!!! I am always pleased with her work and get complements on my nails and toes as well. I have ALWAYS been treated kindly by the receptionist too. The receptionist was extremely helpful and polite when I called for my first appointment. I called right before closing and she was able to fit me in the following morning. I was greeted and offered a beverage as soon as I arrived. My appointment was scheduled with Mindy for a cut and highlights and she was fantastic! I explained what I wanted and she took the time to actually listen. She did an amazing job and I was very happy with her knowledge and attention to detail. TOTAL RIP OFF!!! You get a better value flushing your money down the toilet than going to this place. After not tanning for several years, I attempted to tan here and they're very basic beds. I knew they had Silver level beds because I used to work in a tanning salon. After tanning 3 days in a row I did not have a single bit of color and I should have been fried. After day too, I complain to the owner and she offered me a free tan and one of the other beds. I gave them another shot just in case it was something out of their control. Afterno color from day 3 I had to buy a package somewhere else because I was leaving for vacation and could not afford to burn. I went in to attempt to talk to the owner and then I called several times. She finally had one for staff offer me a refund but still tried to charge me for the one free tan! I should not have paid $1 considering no tanning was going on. When I explained that I was burned after 6 minutes at another location the tried to come up with every excuse why that is. I don't think they have change those bulbs in years. Plus, when I brought that up to the owner she said she changes them herself. A certified technician needs to be the one to do that! I have already called radiation protection services to file a complaint. read more
