Horible place. Really rude managment…read moreThey have ruined the place since they have removed the plunge pool, the steam room is small and has metal seats. What moron thought metal seats would be good in a sauna? Only one that does not use it. The dry sauna is cramped and smells and is rotting. You get 3.5 hrs including changing and they are very strick about that even if its rmpty. The massuse was too stupid as evdn whrn i told her not to put Tiger balm on my skin dhe still did and gave me a terrible rash and itch , again they have ruined what used to be a good Thai massage and sauna established for years and driven the clients away. i can't understand how they survive unless there is something else going on in the back. I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy.

I was a decent walk in the morning air to get there and nice total relaxation was on offer when I got there. Nice cup of coffee and a couple slices of toast as soon as I walked in. Booked and paid for a sauna and sometimes a massage as well. It was a unisex place and there were many times good conversations would come along and the night was over in no timewoops..it's 7.30am. I picture of me? Nightclub 'bouncer'. My size and job were often of no consequence and many a laugh was t be had. One night the barman in 'only Fools and Horses' was there with onother of his comedian-isque telly friends. The jokes and funny stories were endless with contributions from everywhere..including the staff. This was the only above suspician sauna in London and I'll bet it still is. I have many memories of this place but now, unfortunately, I live in the North-East. Do not miss the experiance of this place. You will come out feeling like a new woman/man and full of energy for the day in front of you. This no b***s**t. I am happy to be contacted on this if it is possible through this site. Ray

Pool or pulpit...that is the question!…read more Here at the Virgin Active in Repton Park, they placed a swimming pool right inside a church...how cool is that? When I first entered the pool I was really taken aback and quite mesmerized - it felt a little sacrilegious, but at the same time I very much enjoyed swimming in this beautiful environment. The gym area itself is also quite neat, as you sweat underneath a prettily-decorated vaulted ceiling. There's plenty of exercise equipment, although the weight-lifting area is a little small. This Virgin Active gym is in Repton Park, which was the site of the fomrer Claybury Hospital - a psychiatric hospital. Apparently there's still the ghosts of the past haunting these premises....

This gym has a Costa Coffee inside next to the reception that also includes food (this can get slightly irritating when working out and smelling food) o_O The gym has quite a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, free weights, TRX etc, each machine has a tv screen with the ability to plug in your IPhone/IPod which allows you to listen to your music but also you can store your workout data to your phone too. The most amazing area in this gym is the swimming pool, it is absolutely stunning, the whole gym used to be a chapel for the mental institution, so the decor inside is beautiful. Within the pool area, you also have the sauna and steam room, along with some sun loungers and some juice to drink. The only gripe I have is that there is no air-conditioning (but I don't think there is anything they can do about that due to the building structure).

The whole Turkish Bath vibes For £95 its not bad for the whole experience besides the massage . its basically an oil down, although i upgraded to a 1hr deep Tissue which i got 45 mins. Overall its worth a try. I will definitely go back. Not for the massage though.

BINGO. Hamam was easy to get to, the woman on the phone was delightful and got us booked for two perfect services for each of us, sparing no detail, and we were in. We arrived, and don't be put off if you have to ring the bell - door's locked, and it might take a moment, but we had baths booked and scrub/massage, so we knew we were getting in, but we had no idea how cool and memorable this would be. You could tell there were regulars, happy looking women just in pants, sitting in twos in the steam, or around the common table, rinsing or awaiting scrub or foam; pre-massage. The women who work there are all speaking Turkish, economizing on the pleasantries, because, baby, they are really delivering the goods. Women are getting polished with Turkish coffee, lathered with foam delivered from some kind of oversized cheesecloth tube. It's dynamite. If you've opted for a massage, then a massage you shall get, in a private room in most cases, and very thoughtful, personalized, and leaving you with a very dreamy relaxed yet energized feeling. I had a burn on my hand that my therapist was so concerned about she made that the focus of her care, making lots of recommendations about how to treat it, and lots of extra effort. Anyway, it was a 5 star experience in an affordable, authentic, really sweet caring package. They care about what they do, and they do it I think every day of the week - broken into Mens days and Womens days -- I'd do it weekly if I lived in London, not gonna lie.

Which sort of works to its favour, since it doesn't seem too well known outside of the locals. I visited with a friend after buying a voucher on Lastminute.com. The spa is very nice and the staff very welcoming. We were on the day spa package, which included a lunch. The manager showed us around the changing areas, the treatment areas and the restaurant. It's a well laid out spa, and has all the expected facilities - massage/treatment rooms, a steam room, a sauna, sun bed, swimming pool, jacuzzi and a gym. We made good use of the facilities, starting with lunch. I had the stir fried vegetables and chicken, with miso noodles - not sure this was a strong item on the lunch menu, as the miso paste wasn't mixed in very well and the dish was really salty. But the fruit juice smoothie of the day was amazing and made me feel super healthy - it was peach, mango, banana and honey - yum! My friend's lunch faired better with grilled halloumi and salad. The facilities are well kept and it all looks quite new. If you are a day spa guest, then there is a "dry room" that you can use too, where you can relax on a sun lounger and read magazines (or in our case, fall asleep... yes, it was all incredibly relaxing!). If it wasn't so difficult to get to, I would be back - but then, that's probably to its favour as you probably don't want to be inundated with people.
