I took my dad here to have his shoulder checked out. I set the appointment, prefilled out the paperwork, and went to my appointment on time. I ended up waiting nearly an hour to see the Dr's assistant. We received nothing beneficial. Got another appointment but insisted on seeing the dr this time. Again, waited about 45 minutes, and were treated like idiots by the dr even though I am a nurse and speak the lingo. The Dr has horrible bedside manners and acts as if no one else can possibly understand what he is talking about because we aren't doctors like he is. Very annoying. We ended up canceling out procedure with him and going to Dr. Delcore. Much better in every way, including pricing. read more

I had a full knee replacement with Dr Nakken. The surgery went fine, BUT once I left the hospital, I felt left on my own and betrayed by person who said " let us know if there are any problems". After a week of trying to get resolution with him, his office and staff for a post-op complication, I had an emergency room visit and a trip to my primary care physician to resolve the problem and the complication. Dr Nakken has been uncaring, unconcerned, and unavailable throughout this whole ordeal. Dr Nakken's lack of concern for my recovery and his negligent post-op care has forever poisoned me towards him and Cedar Orthopedic. I will NEVER recommend this office or doctor to anyone. read more

All I can say is that I had a knee "Bone on Bone" that limited my ability to enjoy life fully as I'm very active outdoors. Dr Nakken, Steve, along with their supporting staff provided me with outstanding service. Was it perfect, no, a few bumps along the process, but the end result is nothing short of a blessing. I had a full R/knee replacement and according to those who know the process of recovery, they're blown away with my progress and absence of pain. I understand that my experience has a lot to do with Dr Nakken's surgical methods. I've been around long enough to recognize and appreciate an operation that cares about their patients. Aside from the previous posted "Yelp" reviews, I would submit that they have made changes within their office culture to provide a more sensitive customer service application with clients. I'm new to the Cedar. The bursitis in my right hip was acting up. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. The staff was very nice. Dr. Nakken was kind and professional. He gave me an injection in my hip that help so much and he referred me to a back doctor because he thinks part of my issue I'm having is from my spine. Thank you read more

I arrived 30 minutes early to complete new patient paperwork after waiting weeks for my appointment. I had them pre-approve my insurance when booking my appointment. Upon my arrival I was told that they didn't accept my insurance and couldn't see me!?!? The counter staff was rude, uncaring, didn't offer an explanation or solution. I wish there was a ZERO-star option. Giving this office one star is too generous. If you enjoy terrible, uncaring, price-gouging service, this is the place for you! Otherwise, do yourself a favor and go to St. George (I'm not sure there are a lot of other options in Cedar City? But if you HAVE to stay in Cedar, you're better off having a Shakespearean hippy treat your orthopedic issues than Dr. Nakken's office). I went in to his office 3 times. The wait was absolutely ridiculously long - especially considering I called ahead and informed them I had newborn twins I needed to hurry home for. I thought they'd maybe give me a time where things could be expedited. Nope. I sat in their office for 30 minutes. Then sat in the exam room for another 30 before seeing..... NOT the Dr.... his assistant. Only one of the 3 visits did I see Dr. Nakken. He was brief and hurried and unhelpful. Then I got the bill. THREE TIMES as much as I was told it would be. AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING! He glanced at my MRI, looked at my patellar tendon injury, said it would heal fine. Guess what - almost 3 yrs later, STILL in pain! And no idea what the issue is. Seriously, I hate being so negative.... but if I can save someone from going through half of what I did, this is worth it. Run far far away from Dr. Nakken's office (if you CAN run! Won't ever go back. Naken made me feel as if I was a nuisance and was very judgemental. Talked to my 17 year old son like he was a 4 year old. Make me feel as if he was God's gift to the world. read more

HORRIBLE. Got MRSA infection while he was treating me. REFUSED to treat, told me wound would heal on its own. NOT. Almost died. St. George Wound Center treated me for a year. Finally had to have partial amputation of leg to save my life. Since I was a Medicare patient, no attorney would take mal-practice case. I still have photos and all records. Others mentioned infection problems too. Several patients that had surgery had to have the surgery done again. IHC defends this clown. I, too, would give him a minus one star. The other ortho doc in town is GREAT. read more

Negative five stars for sure, unless you like doctors that work for the insurance companies and don't care about patients

Ditto the other reviews. The staff were snappy and unhelpful. The nurse ridiculed my request for a radiation shield when she did a leg x-ray ("what, do you think you're pregnant or something?"). Nakken was distracted and dismissive when I did see him. Then his office manager waited to bill my insurance until it was past their payable billling period, never informed me of it, then sent my account to collections without so much as a phone call, sticking me with a $12K bill. Nakken should be ashamed to call himself a health care provider - he doesn't care or provide, he just wants the money. read more

His staff overbooks so I end up having to wait a long time. And when you do see him, it's only for a second. When he's in there you can tell he doesn't want to help you. He just wants to rush you. And he can't straight up answer a question. He even screwed up my surgery! I wouldn't ever go to him again!! read more

This man, Dr. Nakken cares more about money than treatment. Never expect follow up care, never expect front staff that is not grumpy and belittling. Do not take cash for co-pays and expect change, they do not have it and will make you reschedule so you can go get the exact cash for the payment. Expect Dr. Nakken to give little time and concern to your problems and to take a long time to review options. If your obese, expect ridicule and refusal to treat you. Expect okay care from Dr. Nakkens assistant and back staff. Do not expect any extra anything that might require a little extra from any of the staff, they will either refuse it, or be unhappy about doing it. Expect Dr. Nakken to schedule you for appointments to tell you 2 minutes of information that could have been done over the phone because he wants that visit money and if you complain about it, expect anger from Dr. Nakken. I would never refer anyone to this man or this office, and if I knew someone was considering him, I would try to dissuade them. Refer to Dr. Randy Clark of Coral Desert Orthopedics. Dr. Clark comes to Cedar City from St. George and is awesome. read more
