I'm like I just came to get them trimmed cause it hurts too bad to do myself, so he just explains what ingrown toenails are like I'm a 5 year old, and after ignoring everything I say, looking at me like I'm stupid, and continually touching my toes I told him were hurting causing me more pain for 5 minutes, finally agrees to just trim them. Then he starts to go for my toes, I told him my toes hurt too much to just start cutting, so he goes "oh yeah we'll numb them for you" and backs away. The doctor leaves and the stupid nurse puts the needle in my toe, without holding it still, so I can feel the needle moving in my toe. Even without it moving it hurt So bad, like someone was sticking a knife in my toe. It hurt less when I tried to rip the ingrown toenail out at home. They didn't even tell me it would hurt at all. I cried and screamed, but this woman just sat there still not holding my toe stable and actually SMILED! and tried not to LAUGH at my screaming pain! Then she goes, would you like some water? Like that would help. Then after she did that four times for my 2 big toes, blood dripping down and waiting 10 minutes, the top of my toes still weren't numb, so the doctor grabs another needle and just moves to stick me in the top of my toe. I pulled back and said No, He sarcastically asks what I'm gonna do if the top of my toes aren't numb, I said GO Home! I would literally rather rip them all out myself then feel that pain again. After waiting a little longer they still weren't numb, so he put little tourniquets on my toes and said they MIGHT help but they'd need them to help stop the Blood anyway. I'm thinking you're gonna make my toes bleed so much they need Tourniquets?! I've only made my ingrown toenails bleed twice, and that's what brought me to my breaking point. So I told him I was done and going Home. I had bruises from the needles for days!

I ended up waiting nearly an hour to see the Dr's assistant. We received nothing beneficial. Got another appointment but insisted on seeing the dr this time. Again, waited about 45 minutes, and were treated like idiots by the dr even though I am a nurse and speak the lingo. The Dr has horrible bedside manners and acts as if no one else can possibly understand what he is talking about because we aren't doctors like he is. Very annoying. We ended up canceling out procedure with him and going to Dr. Delcore. Much better in every way, including pricing.

After a week of trying to get resolution with him, his office and staff for a post-op complication, I had an emergency room visit and a trip to my primary care physician to resolve the problem and the complication. Dr Nakken has been uncaring, unconcerned, and unavailable throughout this whole ordeal. Dr Nakken's lack of concern for my recovery and his negligent post-op care has forever poisoned me towards him and Cedar Orthopedic. I will NEVER recommend this office or doctor to anyone.

When I went in after a week. When he took the bandages off and to my surprise the operation, he did make it worse. Then it said he could operate on it again. The Cost of the hospital was just under $70,000. His Price was $3,500. I'm a Marine Vietnam Combat Vet. The VA paid for the whole thing. Now 5 years later I'm looking for a new Dr. I've had enough discomfort. 1 good thing his staff is really good.

Terrell, who prepared me and the treatment room for Dr. Butterfield, was friendly, supportive and made getting ready for the procedure almost relaxing. He attended to every detail, and was willing to even help me get off my shoe (foot was swollen). Dr. Butterfield has this calm confidence of a physician who knows his field. He gently debrided the injury, so much so that I didn't need anesthetic shots. He explained everything well. He was able to save me an unneeded appointment at instructed by the ER (duplicating services). I walked out with less pain than that which with I arrived. Sabrina, his assistant was very intuitive, she anticipated Dr. Butterfield somewhat like she could mind read. It speeded up the contact and helped him focus on his interaction with me. I was very please at my care at the Foot and Ankle Institute.
