The Herbalist was a commercial research microbiologist and is intimately familiar with how various components of whole foods interact with the body to treat a variety of circumstances. Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years as a treatment modality for aches, pains, and chronic conditions. While western medicine has developed extraordinary acute/emergency care that has saved many lives, the western approach to chronic care is symptom management. Nothing is designed to treat or cure the source of the symptom. The conventional medicine to treat one symptom creates several others (side effects) and the requirement for more and more toxic meds. Acupuncture helps break the downward spiral of side effects to actually get better and maintain this through the body's own mechanisms. I previously spoke directly with the owner and explained that I have FMLA-related medical circumstances and unpredictable migraines that can occur without warning. During that conversation, I specifically explained that there may be times when I need to cancel an appointment unexpectedly because of a severe migraine. I was told that a note would be placed in the system regarding my situation so that I would not be charged a cancellation fee if I needed to cancel for this reason. Today, I had to call to cancel an appointment because I was experiencing a terrible migraine. Despite our previous conversation and the understanding that a note would be placed in my account, I was advised that I would still have to pay a cancellation fee. This is very disappointing because I had already discussed this exact situation with the owner beforehand and relied on the understanding that my circumstances had been documented. There are also ongoing concerns regarding charges on my account that I would like reviewed: I purchased a package of 5 massages, but during my last visit I was still charged $132 for a massage on August 22. I explained at the time that I had already purchased the package of five massages, yet the $132 charge continues to appear. I was also charged for another visit/day that I had already paid for, including the herbs. The amount I paid was $80, and I was later told that the payment had not been received. My FSA card records show the charge, so I believe this payment should be verifiable. I also posted a review regarding my experience because I felt it was important to honestly share what happened. I was very disappointed to discover that my review was intentionally removed. This added to my concerns because I believe customers should be able to provide honest feedback about their experiences, including concerns regarding billing and customer service. To avoid further confusion or unexpected charges, I have requested to cancel all of my remaining appointments for the rest of the year, with the exception of the two massages that remain pending from my package. I am requesting that you please review my account, including my previous discussion with the owner, the cancellation note that was supposed to be placed in the system, my five-massage package, and the payment records for the $132 and $80 charges. I would appreciate written clarification regarding these charges and confirmation that my account has been corrected accordingly. I would also like confirmation that the remaining two massages from my package will remain available to me and that no additional incorrect charges will be applied. I have been trying to resolve these issues, but having to repeatedly explain payments and charges that should already be reflected correctly in the system is extremely frustrating.
