And I don't trust accountant chains - such as H&R Block. In short, I felt my tax situation this year was more complex than normal and I was a lot more comfortable having someone who knows this stuff taking care of it. And having someone to represent me to the IRS should they have any questions about the preparation. I visited with Brown and Associates, P.C. last Sunday afternoon - met with Nettie - dropped off my documents with her, filled out some forms, had a conversation - and then waited. Nettie called me a couple of times during the week for some additional documentation she needed. They called me this morning to inform me the work was done and that I could stop in to pick up my paperwork. I stopped in before lunch, met with Nettie, went over everything, and got some good additional advice from Christie - one of their Staff Accountants. My only criticism of their business is knowing how much you are going to pay for their services. They charge by the forms they need to fill out - which makes sense. But, it would be helpful from an expectations and customer service standpoint if they had a checklist they could go over with you ahead of time to get an idea or guesstimate of how many and what forms would be needed and what that cost might be.
